Angus twitched his mouth, unable to believe that Baston just took advantage of him. By doing it, the matter of Baston's magic power could then be explained caused by the great wizard's assistance. Before he could say
anything, there was an uproar in the classroom. Every student was shocked, then
turned into the happiest person in the world. Just being the assistant could make the useless trash became a precious pearl in a few minutes. This was almost the same as spending many resources and training for a long time just to become a knight or wizard. Eventually, there was a quick shortcut and Angus was the one shortcut they could take.
"Did you see that? Such a poor fat boy suddenly become a wizard in the blink of eye!"
"It's amazing! No wonder he's called Great Wizard Angus!"
"From now on, I will follow Great Wizard Angus! Who knows that I will be another great wizard someday."
"Hey, in your dreams…"
"By the way, could I volunteer myself to be another helper?"
The question sparked great motivations inside many students. Everyone could see that with the little assistance of Angus, even Baston could become a wizard. This thing was a blessing and not everyone could have it. They wanted to know if Angus still held more testing, but the great wizard just shook his head. He exclaimed that he was very busy, so in the matter of Baston, just considered it as his fortune. The other students could only lament their fates, shaking their heads regretfully. It was even more for the noble boy who took Baston's seat forcefully. He was really jealous of Baston, but he didn't dare do much to him. For someone who showed some potentials, the academy would protect them. Even in this kingdom, people with strength had more status than others.
Meanwhile, Angus had a trouble to excuse himself from the podium. Because of Baston, everyone now believed that he could awaken the magic talent in every student here. This time, his popularity soared and he had difficulty of explaining it. He knew Baston was already a wizard from before, yet the fat boy made him as a scapegoat. Alicia also knew it wasn't because of her uncle, yet she could only laugh it off. She didn't know why Baston did it, but perhaps it was a payback for calling him to the front.
Angus thought he could still be superior in front of Baston, yet this fat student didn't act like what he expected from before. Until this
time, Baston still kneeled down, uttering such a praise to him without stopping for a moment. If not because they were in front of many eyes, he really would like to smack his head. He would see then whether Baston still dared to take advantage of him or not.
Regarding this, Baston had already considered the best way to reveal his strength. If he just showed it without any source, people would suspect him. It was because the matter of explosion was still investigated, so it wasn't a wise move to reveal his magic power. Rather than being praised, everyone must think he was involved in the incident. It would be different if he somehow got the power through Angus since the man had good reputation. By doing this, not only he helped himself, but he also increased the popularity of Alicia's uncle. As for the troublesome things of next action, he wouldn't think too much. Just considered this as his revenge because the bad performance of the earlier result.
The great wizard finally could get away, leaving every student in regret. Despite this, they didn't look too much disappointed since
the matter of Baston was considered a rare occurrence. It was also because the 2 other students didn't get anything in return, which meant if they also got the opportunity, it didn't ensure their breakthrough completely. The 2 noble students before felt shame because they felt they still didn't have any
understanding, but because of their pride, they informed everyone that they had an enlightenment so it was just a matter of time before they would breakthrough to higher level.
Everyone got back, including Baston. Most of the students could only lament their fate for not having the lucky opportunity. Baston
himself quickly fled away from there before he would be questioned by others. When
the fat boy entered his room, he was surprised to see Angus was already there.
One thing he could figure out why the man was here must be because of his trick before. He was afraid such a man would act offhandedly. Even though they were inside the academy, he wasn't sure whether he would be protected or not.
"Humphhh… You dare to take an advantage of me before, huh?" Angus harrumphed, "Just because you're a kid, I won't dare to punish you."
Baston tried his best to act calmly, "Then, you should not call me to the front. Many students probably had an idea to make trouble with me once the school is finished."
Fortunately, Angus had conscience, so he didn't push the matter further. He wasn't a cheap person from the beginning. Baston could sense he wasn't here because such a childish matter. Perhaps, there was something else, but Baston needed to know the man's confirmation first.
"Alright, I'm not playing with you anymore," Angus talked seriously, "What do you think of the man named Joker before?"
"Surely, he's still suspicious of me…" Baston thought, then looking at Angus while replying to him, "Why you are still asking this?"
"My instinct told me that you knew this person. That's why I come again personally to ask this. If you don't want to explain it, I need to know the reason first. I'm just afraid Alicia will fall in danger in the future."
Angus wasn't wrong to seek the answer if his reason was for Alicia. As her uncle, he just wanted to make sure his niece could study herevpeacefully without inviting much trouble. In regard of this, the great wizard
perhaps viewed Baston as the source of trouble itself. If the fat boy could speak honestly, the man named Joker indeed had connection with him since it was his puppet. Angus must think the clown was a menace and must be eliminated quickly.
Baston might be calm at outside, yet inside his heart, he was thinking hard what to say to this great wizard. If he said no, the suspicion on him would get bigger. Agreeing with Angus would only make Baston became harder to find another excuse to tell. Following the logic of thinking was the best one, but he was sure it would be hard to tell another story. Rather than that, he wanted to direct Angus to another thing so that his
suspicious treatment would be lessened.
"Joker is very dangerous. You should stay far away from him as much as you can…"
Angus smiled a little bit, thinking his hunch was correct, "Then, tell me why is he dangerous? If not, I will just pursue him."
"I can't tell you…"
"Why not?"
"Because you're not strong enough to repel the curse…" Baston thought before adding another reason, "Because you have a family…"
This sentence made Angus frowned, thinking the worst that could happen. Assuming what Baston said was true, then this Joker would likely make a target to everyone close to him. He had confidence in dealing with his enemy, but for his family, he sometimes worried about them. Although the security was strict, but this man could escape easily just after his arrival in a matter of few seconds. There was no clue when he came to the scene, making the great wizard thought the man never existed in that place. If not for some explanations from Alicia, he would believe there was no such man at the
beginning.
Baston didn't know what Angus was wondering about. He hoped by talking about the threat to his family, Angus would back down and just forget about the clown for the moment. He saw the great wizard's reluctance and it seemed he needed to push a little more to make Angus left the matter of the clown temporarily. The fat boy didn't know what to do since he had run out of
ideas, but he suddenly remembered the piece of information he got on the old book.
"Mana potion infused with ice magic can cure the poison from mana turbulence…"
"What?" Angus was dumbfounded because Baston just uttered a nonsense of the conversation.
"That was the piece of information I got from Joker," Baston acted seriously, "I don't know what it means, but perhaps, you can think about it."
"Really?" Angus was unconvinced, "It's just gibberish if I have to say. As far as I know, it won't do anything if you infuse it."
Baston just shrugged his hands. He was actually curious about the sentence from the old book. Were these words only a garbage or a hidden fact? He didn't know it, so that was why he let Angus knew about it. It might
be some sort of codes or anything. Baston didn't have capability to verify it and he tested it to Angus. It was also good to divert his attention, making him busy for a while.
Fortunately, Angus didn't stay long because he had another business to do. If not because he was curious about Baston, he wouldn't waste his time in the academy. So far, he got another clue about Joker. The man was highly dangerous and there would be a high probability his family would be
involved if the great wizard dared to after him. Also, the piece of information Baston told before intrigued him. As far as he knew, this kind of sentence would be just ridiculous statement, yet because the fat boy told him that it came from Joker, he wouldn't underestimate it.
Before he left, Angus sent the message to one of his colleagues who worked in the research center for magic. This man was his
friend, so after leaving the message, Angus didn't talk nonsense and just let him did the experiment. After that, he greeted the academy first before he left silently. If he let the academy did the procession, he was sure they would hold the goodbye party and it would be very troublesome then.
Meanwhile at the research center, a man who was old just like Angus stared at the message given to him. From his professional view, this thing was basically useless. Although he never investigated further, people already knew the result by using the magic instrument. At the surface, since
there was no change detected, people already assumed it didn't give any effect.
Of course, if some people had time to check further, there might be a result. But considering no one would give their precious time easily, they just abandoned it.
Nowadays, every wizard sought more about powerful spell or skill. Since strength spoke louder in this world, they prioritized this one
than anything. Anyway, since he didn't have much to do right at the moment, he could look at it with the help of some colleagues too. Just treated it as a part-time job or something in the meantime. There was also another reason for this. He knew Angus for a long time and he wasn't a type of people who liked to waste time. Probably, there was a new direction found in this piece of
information. If it was true, Angus and other colleagues who worked on this would be famous for a while.
The man entered one of many rooms, looking at the sluggish department he led. There was no new direction for a moment, making all the staffs got lazier and lazier by the day. Their works might be less important,
but he believed as long the basic foundation was strong enough, there would be many opportunities in the future. People might be forgetting them, but their invention couldn't be forgotten easily.
"Everyone, pay attention please!" he spoke loudly as to make the researcher looked at him, "I got new direction here. Don't underestimate this thing because this one comes from the Great Wizard Angus himself!"
