When Angus left the academy, Baston finally could breathe a sigh of relief. Since the great wizard had been here for a couple of days, it
made him uncomfortable. The suspicion still continued, but he already did the best. Whether it could divert his attention into something else, he hoped Angus and him wouldn't meet again. At least, until he got stronger, he could only stay low in this academy.
Truthfully, it was easy before Baston revealed his strength. Staying low as the fat poor piggy in his underground dormitory might be not good for him, but at least, it also didn't create another trouble. Despite of this, some students might be harsher than Panto. They might bully him one day and if they thought you were easy one, then they would continue until forever. It wasn't a matter of satisfaction because the bullies only fulfilled their vanity.
It was a dilemma, but Baston eventually decided to display his strength a little. By being a wizard, there would be no one to bully him again. The academy would protect those who were blessed by this talent because every wizard was precious. The noble students might do one thing or two from behind, but as soon as he showed his potential, they better stopped it or the
academy would punish them. Baston was deemed as priceless for now, so the nobles must not press further. A conspiracy might be brewing, but not in this average academy.
As soon as Baston showed his ice magic, the academy dispatched some staffs to check on him. The same instrument was used and they were dumbfounded to find his magic power was greater than Alicia. Miss Pashan as the teacher before also claimed that at first, he showed an amazing number when measured. After the first one, his second result went bad and it was stable
after that, so she thought it was the fault of the instrument. Who knew that what she saw at that time was true. Baston had a hidden talent of being a wizard. He could also be knight, but considering his fat body, it was better to forget it.
After Angus became popular before, Baston then became the next one. He was still in junior class, but already displaying such potential. Everyone soon idolized him, although it was just from poor and commoner class. The merchant one didn't have any opinion on it, but the noble students felt aggravated of him. They thought the noble should be the superior one, but out of nowhere, Baston passed them all with the highest score. It was unacceptable, even though it was the reality.
The noble side felt shameful because not only the poor one started to reach them, there was also a case regarding the explosion. After the investigation, they found some noble students were the one who caused the incident. At first, they denied the claim and swore they would report this to
the kingdom because of this slander. Still, the evidence showed the truth and if they still didn't want to confess, then the kingdom itself would send someone here to judge them personally. It would end with the harshest punishment, so after thinking about the pros and cons, they finally confessed.
The investigator knew the noble might have a great status in the kingdom, but most of them had a weak heart. Throwing some threats would usually end with confession at last. The students said that they got the magic circle from outside. At first, they only wanted to make a mischief for the head of cafeteria, yet they didn't know it would explode horribly. Because this case
seriously affected everyone, the academy then declared suspension for the involved one. The noble students complained, but it didn't scare the academy because they were sure the parents of these troublesome kids would likely beat them once they went back to their homes. If the academy wanted to, they could say this act of disturbing the public could be regarded as treason for the
kingdom since they could kill everyone. Based on this fact, other nobles would quickly stay far away from them and soon, the involved one would lose their nobility.
It was quite hectic, but Baston didn't follow the case. There was no benefit and he rather thought about what food he would eat next
rather than worrying about some arrogant students. The next days, something was
quite different since Baston had become a true wizard. Many whispered around,
thinking that it was quite unbelievable yet since the academy had already announced it, everyone assumed the news was true. Not only he had ice element, even his magic power was stronger than Alicia. It was unbelievable news for everyone.
"Look at him. He already becomes a wizard and even stronger than Alicia…"
"Yes. At first, I thought it was just a fake rumor, but when the academy confirmed it, I really can't help but believe it completely."
"How could he become a wizard easily?"
"That's because Angus personally imparted his knowledge to him. If not, he will still be a poor kid in the class."
"Ah… I see…"
Regarding Baston's new status, everyone still thought he was a lucky boy. When Angus conducted the test, the fat boy coincidentally
developed his first element out of nowhere. Usually, this kind of element could only be inherited from the family. It was just like Alicia who was proficient on wind magic. There was a rare case that someone could develop another element based on their innate talent, but it was exceptional to happen.
While everyone around had many thoughts in their minds, one of the teachers patted the fat boy, "Student Baston, please come with me. The principal wants to meet with you."
Baston was surprised because he was just in way to the classroom, but a teacher suddenly came up to him. Without any choice, he then followed the man, walking along many murmurs around. The scenery around was different because he entered the area for teachers and personnel of the
academy. It was his first time coming here. The garden looked fine with magic decoration. The atmosphere it gave to him was slightly distinctive. He also heard that the place was more grandeur than the noble area, making everyone cherished their experience once they could go here.
The teacher guided him into one of many rooms here. Inside, he was surprised to see Alicia. There was also one noble boy, but he didn't know his name. He sat down and just a few minutes later, an old man entered the
room. Baston never met with the principal before, but his hunch told him that the man was the one based on his clothing and temperament.
"Good afternoon, everyone…" the old man greeted, "I'm Principal Viral. I call all of you here because I have an important thing to
announce. There will be a meeting with other academies a week later. By default, we only need to pick the stronger students that we have in the junior years."
"What we are doing there?" Alicia raised her hand and asked.
"It's just like a meeting, but only for students. There might be a counselor to accompany you."
"Is there no tournament to decide the member? I mean some noble students might feel dissatisfied if we go on like this," a noble boy uttered his opinion.
"Well, it might be true. Still, the meeting at this time only states that we only need to bring the strongest junior based on the magic power. If I don't obey it and simply sends someone weaker, then it will look
like we underestimate this meeting, right?"
"But…"
The boy seemed having much concern against this decision, but there was nothing to do since the principal had already decided it. Baston was perfectly sure what he complained had connection with him. The noble had much pride than anyone here, even though his magic power was even lower than Alicia. He should be the strongest right now, Alicia was the second, and the
unknown boy was the third.
It seems everyone gathered here just to get know with each other. Baston had already known Alicia, so it was only the noble boy who he didn't know the name. The boy stared at Baston and ignored him, which simply stating that he didn't have any desire to introduce himself. That was fine too since Baston didn't want to know him either. There was a chasm between the poor and the noble, so rather than forcing it, it was the best to stay silent for now.
Until the end, the noble boy still gave out his comment, but the nature of meeting was different than the tournament, so there was nothing he could do. The principal also insisted on his decision since it was the
requirement of the meeting. Unless there was a stronger one than Baston, then the members would be fixed like this. The boy finally gave up since the strength was the only thing needed here, moreover, Alicia from the side never complained about it.
When everyone got back, Alicia took the initiative to approach Baston, "Do you think that boy will become a trouble?"
Baston glanced at Alicia, "There's a possibility. But if he still stays the same like this, he will be surprised when he meets with the others by then."
"Yes, I think so too…" Alicia nodded, "By default, you should be the leader from our academy. We should listen to the strongest one, but in case he won't listen to you, I will try to persuade him."
"I just hope the meeting doesn't attract more troublesome things. The matter of explosion plus the clown are already a trouble. Also,
your uncle brings new trouble for me too…"
Alicia chuckled then she went ahead after saying goodbye to Baston. The fat boy stared at her strangely. It was because their conversation seemingly went casual, unlike what they had done before. She also didn't use the cult matter when talking to him. Baston remembered that they would always
talk about serious things, mostly regarding the cult. Even though it was just a fiction organization, everyone else thought it was real. The girl didn't mention it again since the Joker incident, so he thought she already forgot about it.
While Baston was reminiscing, Alicia thought about the conversation before. At first, she thought he would reply coldly, but who knew that he could make a joke. She even chuckled unconsciously, revealing a sweet smile that she rarely showed. It was strange, but she thought because they were
involved in the same case, they just acted like a teammate. After all, both of them had passed dangerous moments together. There was still no romantic feeling because the only thing she showed to him was her respect.
The life at the academy ran as usual until a week later, the day of meeting had come. The academy had already provided a special carriage for the members of the meeting. Baston thought it would be just like an old carriage, yet when he saw it, he was quite dumbfounded. The thing was the carriage looked like a truck.
Inside, there was a decoration for the three of them. It was large enough for the three of them to stretch and lay down happily. In his
previous world, this thing might be used to carry goods but it was different here. Anyway, since it was free and food provided, he wouldn't complain it. He glanced at Alicia and the noble boy, looking at their satisfied expressions. It should mean that the facility was very good that they nodded in satisfaction.
The fat boy didn't comment too much and just climbed it up from behind. Everyone from the academy just waved their hands, saying a goodbye for all of them. On the other hand, Baston thought it was quite exciting since he would go again to outside. The nearby town didn't bring him much information since it didn't have a crowded atmosphere. The destination right now should be in the city, so he wondered what it would like. Did it look the same as his city in previous world or not? He could only confirm it with his own eyes.
