"Your Majesty Robb, those ugly Freys are not worthy of you. I am willing to marry on your behalf; my appearance is very fitting for Lord Frey's offspring."
As his words fell, the hall first fell silent, then erupted in laughter.
Greatjon loudly said, "King Robb, my Uncles all wish to marry another wife. I ask for your generosity."
Everyone laughed heartily again.
Robb raised his hand to quiet them and said, "I will make reasonable compensation to House Frey. This is the King's promise."
After a pause, Greatjon raised a steel-armored fist to the sky and roared, "Long live the King of the North!"
Robb's Riverlands vassals shouted, "Long live the King of the Trident!"
"Roar! Roar! Roar!"
The sound of fists pounding and feet stomping in the hall was as loud as thunder.
Amidst the clamor, Ser Brynden Tully, the Blackfish Knight, who had recently arrived at Casterly Rock, walked through the crowd to Robb.
He placed his palm on his left chest and said, "Good day, King Robb."
The boisterous crowd gradually quieted, and a Riverlands lord nearby said in disbelief, "Lord Tully?!"
Robb looked at the Blackfish sigil on Ser Brynden's chest and tentatively said, "Uncle Brynden?"
Brynden nodded kindly and said, "Child, you are even stronger than I imagined. May the Gods bless you."
Robb showed a look of pleasant surprise: "This is wonderful, welcome."
With that, he gestured to his Lord Steward.
Receiving the King's command, the Lord Steward tapped the ground with his scepter and shouted for the meeting to adjourn, and the lords in the hall left together.
Soon, the hall was empty, leaving only Robb, Jeyne, and Brynden.
Robb took Jeyne's hand and said, "Uncle Brynden, it is with the greatest honor that I introduce to you Miss Jeyne Westerling, the eldest daughter of the Earl of Casterly Rock. She will soon be my Queen."
Ser Brynden showed a kind smile and said, "Lovely child, welcome to the family of the Trout and the Direwolf. We shall share a hearth. And, my blessings to you both."
Jeyne appeared very shy. She gave a slight bow and said, "Thank you, Ser."
Seeing Ser Brynden approve of Jeyne, Robb seemed very happy: "Uncle, how did you come to the Westerlands? Did you meet my mother?"
"Family, Duty, Honor."
Ser Brynden added, "Catelyn must be very worried about your safety. Though I am old, I believe I can still help you, Robb."
Robb's tone was sincere: "Mother often told me that you are the sharpest sword in the Riverlands. I thank you for your arrival."
Ser Brynden curved his lips and said, "I've brought some intelligence that concerns the future of the war. I'd like to speak with you alone."
He looked at Jeyne: "Forgive me, lovely child, I must take him from you for a while. I will return him to you soon."
...
Robb led Brynden to a private room.
After they were seated, Ser Brynden spoke directly, "King Robb, before I came here, I received intelligence that Stannis was defeated by the Lannister-Tyrell alliance. He was completely routed, and it is said he fled to Dragonstone with only a few thousand remnants."
After a pause, he added, "I think Lord Tywin will soon send out troops again. It will be very dangerous for you to remain in the Westerlands."
Robb was somewhat incredulous: "I heard Stannis had a hundred thousand troops…"
"War is inherently strange; incredible things can happen at any time."
Brynden shook his head slightly, then continued, "I'm not entirely clear on the specifics, but it's said that Lord Tywin personally led his cavalry and swept through Stannis's army."
Robb pondered for a moment and said, "Do you have any advice?"
Brynden smiled and said, "I also heard about your deeds. You captured the Kingslayer in the Riverlands and ignited the war in the Lannisters' stronghold. I imagine Lord Tywin's mood must be very bad. You are an excellent King; I am very proud of you."
Robb was silent for a moment and said, "I advanced into the Westerlands for Lord Tywin, but my plan failed."
Brynden sighed, "Edmure's cleverness ruined your plan. Don't worry about his feelings; you are his King."
Robb tapped his knee with his fingers and said, "To be honest, I haven't figured out my next step yet. The intelligence you brought is very timely."
Ser Brynden paused and said, "This is the Westerlands, after all. You lack reliable and timely intelligence. I just want to tell you that Lord Tywin's next target will definitely be you. He now has the support of House House Tyrell, and you are surrounded by enemies in the Westerlands… This place could turn into your cage at any moment."
Robb nodded steadily and said, "Thank you for your advice. I will consider it carefully."
...
After discussing the war, Ser Brynden suddenly said, "King Robb, can you tell me about your wife? I saw the fury of House Frey outside the hall; they are incredibly angry."
Robb hesitated and said, "When we attacked Casterly Rock, Jeyne took care of me constantly. Last night, she… comforted me. I must marry her; only by doing so can I maintain my honor."
He frowned: "As for my marriage pact with House Frey, I will compensate them."
After a pause, Robb looked at the rugged-faced Ser Brynden and said sincerely, "Jeyne is both gentle and sweet. She will make a good wife and a good Queen."
Ser Brynden nodded slightly and said, "She is indeed very lovely."
He added, "If I recall correctly, House Westerling is a vassal of Lord Tywin."
Robb explained, "Yes, Jeyne's father once fought alongside the Kingslayer and is now imprisoned in Seaguard awaiting ransom. Although my marriage to Jeyne was not with his consent, if he were to return to the Lannister side, he would be placed in an extremely dangerous situation. I want to try my best to avoid these things. I don't want Jeyne to lose everything for her love for me."
