"As for you Doctor, Mr Liu has processed your suspension with the hospital, and the director would decide any further changes in your case." Yanran announced to the obstetrician who was still on her knees handing her a white envelope.
Still thinking she'll be pardoned for her unprofessional conduct, she decided to remain on her knees, but Yanran gestured towards the door for her to leave.
"Miss Chen Ruonan? Miss Chen?" Yanran called trying to identify who the person is among the three standing, but Ruonan wasn't paying attention to whatever was going on as Meiling had to call her attention by whispering to her ears.
"Yes– yes that's me." Ruonan muttered in a tiny voice almost as if Yanran couldn't hear her.
"Mr Liu would like to speak with you in private."
"What? Has your boss's mouth gone numb that he can't speak for himself? Tell your beloved boss that we are not going anywhere." Meiling flared up in anger with a furious look at Liu Xingyan.
Yanran immediately widened his eyes when he heard what Meiling said, knowing his boss fully well doesn't tolerate anyone who disrespects him, but to Yanran's surprise, his boss demeanor remained calm, but the cold expression didn't fade.
"Meiling, I'm fine, I can stay on my own. Take Aunt Lin outside and wait for me."
"But—." Ruonan signaled with her eyes for them to leave.
As Meiling and Aunt Lin made their way out of the office, Meiling couldn't help but roll her eyes at Liu Xingyan who was currently sitting on one of the task chairs. Yanran also followed suit and left the room to Liu Xingyan and Ruonan.
Ruonan also sat down on the task chair gently with her head lowered because with Liu Xingyan's demeanor she couldn't look him in the eye, his cold eyes were enough to freeze her up.
"I don't think I need to explain myself much, as you know, I'm the sperm donor."
"I– I know." Ruonan stuttered and swallowed hard still with her head lowered.
Liu Xingyan nodded before he continued.
"I heard you're already two weeks pregnant, and as for that, this is my bank card. It has huge amounts of money enough for you to get rid of that."
Liu Xingyan stretched his hand forward towards Ruonan to receive the card but tears instead gathered in her eyes while staring at the black card in between his fingers.
"That? But— This is your child." Ruonan's eyes already flood with tears.
"I won't repeat myself; I have nothing to do with it. Just get rid of it and live your life, the money is enough to keep your family happy for years to come."
Ruonan raised her head staring at his cold eyes before giving any response.
"I guess all men are the same then, a rogue, pathetic and heartless human." Ruonan in a hoarse voice as the tears couldn't stop but instead flooded more.
"I never intended for this to happen; I kept it for a reason. Sort yourself out, you don't want to ruin your future, do you?"
Liu Xingyan spoke in his cold voice before slamming the card on the table as he strode out in long stride with his secretary behind him.
"You heartless man, I hate you!" Ruonan ran out the door screaming at his back with tears in her eyes.
Liu Xingyan didn't turn back or even blink an eyelid to think about what she said.
"Ruonan!" Meiling and Aunt Lin quickly grabbed her before she falls to the ground.
She wasn't expecting too much from him, but this was too much. She never knew a father could be this cold to his child. She only wanted him to acknowledge the child as his and nothing more.
"Tell me what that hooligan did to you!" Meiling screamed in anger almost standing up to run after him, but Ruonan held her hand tight.
"Ruonan, what should we do now? What did he say? Did he accept the baby?" Aunt Lin asked as tears also gathered in her eyes.
"He said– to get rid of it." She went on to explain everything that happened in the room to them in tears.
"That hooligan! How dare he?" Qin Meiling frowned.
"What to do now? Are you really going to get rid of it like he said?" Aunt Lin asked.
"I'm keeping this baby; I can't kill this little heart breathing inside of me."
"I'll care for it and accept my fate." Ruonan affirmed with tears in her eyes.
"But if you do that, what about Mr Wang?" Meiling asked with worry in her voice.
Ruonan had almost forgotten about her abusive husband as she trembles in fear.
"Whatever happens, I'll accept it as my fate." Chen Ruonan swallowed hard.
"My poor girl!" Aunt Lin sobs while staring at her niece. At a young age she is already going through all of this trouble and trauma. Will she ever survive this? Aunt Lin thought in her mind.
Liu Xingyan didn't leave immediately and instead waited in his car at the entrance of the hospital for them to leave as he instructed Yanran to check if Ruonan took the Bank Card but to his surprise, she never touched the card leaving it on the obstetrician's office table.
"Boss, she left the card behind. What should I do next?" Yanran asked immediately he entered the driver side of the car.
"I guess she doesn't need it, keep it with you for now."
"Boss, one more thing, Chairman has been asking for you, should I put him on a call?"
"Tell him I'll call when I'm less busy." Liu Xingyan ordered as his head rests to the back.
He couldn't stop thinking about his conversation with Chen Ruonan causing him distraction at his office, even his employees noticed the change in atmosphere till he got home at night.
During his virtual meeting with the executives, he suddenly remembered 'you heartless man, I hate you!' Her words resounding in his head so much he had to call off the meeting and go to sleep in anger.
