'Now what would you do, Helen?' he thought, 'your response and gesture are all I need.'
"Apostle Alwat Xin," she was bowing slightly, about to place both arms on her chest as she continued, "I, Avatar Helphi..., no, no, no, that's not right. Sorry about that, Light. Let me start again." She cleared her throat and started again.
"Apostle Light Syn, I, Avatar Helen Phi," taking the same bow and gesture as Light had, continued, "Avatar of the Goddess Teleute, the God of Death, and God Cyrius, the god of Justice, formally receive your acknowledgment, in return to you."
'You know what this means, right, Light?' Alwat's voice resounded in Light's head.
'Yes, I know, Alwat.'
'She is yours, but mine is mixed with it. Her personality is going to be more childish for.'
'That's to be expected, Alwat, this is much better than any other.'
'It's been a very long, since she called herself that. I miss the little child who used to call me uncle. Then again, how is Titan holding up?'
Light shifted his eyes to look at Titan, 'He is processing.'
'If Helen's behaviour is obvious to leave clues for Titan to pick, then Selene's situation is much dangerous. Larile might have already gotten the gist of things.'
'These regression episodes are getting out of hand,' Light sighed exhaustively, 'well, it seems I'd be having fun today.'
'Enjoy while it lasts,' Alwat's voice faded out.
Light then leapt into Helen's embrace, returning the hug, "Why don't we play a game of Cat and Mouse (Hunter and Prey)?"
"I love you Light. You understand me well."
But before any of them could do anything, Titan spoke, "Helen what was that just now? Your voice, your tone, your attitude, it—" Titan words fell in his throat as if something, something unknown was blocking him. This isn't the first time it has happened, for the past two years since he left Garh and started working for Helen as her assistant, something has been affecting him. Controlling him, his memories had gaps in them, his words and expressions were either suppressed, reworded, or entirely rewritten, giving a different meaning than what he intended. When he tries to correct himself, he begins to believe what he said, deepening his misunderstanding.
'Cyrius's trick is still in place.' Light thought, 'Titan you'd never be able to change things on the outside, if you're not in full control of yourself. A father hurting his son, to shield him from the pain, right before him, how poetic.'
"Titan can't you see we're about to do something fun? Your presence, is ruining it."
"But Helen, you, you, you, ..." 'Why is this happening again, and at this point of all times?'
"You, you, you. Haa hahaha hahaha. I'm ten and can, already form full conversations, and you're here doing, ehmm ehmm" She turned to Light, "What's that word I'm looking for?"
"It's stumbling." 'The younger is growing dominant.'
"Yes right, Stumbling. You're stumbling over your words."
'What did she just say, that number. I'm sure I heard ten just now and her personality is that of a child. However, when I think about it there was no number, and, and, and .... Right, what am I even thinking, this is how Helen had always been. I think I'm still exhausted.'
"You're right Helen. It seems my exhaustion got the better of me. Please give me your ID., I'll meet the High Priest and the accountant myself, and leave you two."
'Like seriously,' Light thought, 'I thought Cyrius only placed a Hypnotic suggestion on you. He didn't even use Divine Force, just a stone dangling from a string and it's working that well. Now this is disturbing,' he looked up at the roof while still in Helen's embrace, 'how's he going to help her heal, when he's not alright up there.'
"You'd better do, now take this," she threw her ID card at him in a dramatic motion. "Now get out! Leave!" stomping her feet like a child throwing a tantrum.
Titan immediately rushed out, leaving only 'Helen' and Light in the room.
"Cyrius tasked me with an assassination mission. Why don't we make that official our main prey?"
"I like your idea. Let me check," he took out a book from his robes, " Our prey is the, no let me rephrase that, he was the Minister of Finance and State Security of the Restia Republic Nation. A small nation Southeast to Melt and two countries away."
"What's a Republic?" Helen asked, her tone becoming more childish, "And I've never heard of a kingdom called Restia Republic before, when was it established?"
"That isn't of concern right now. The hunt is all we're here for."
"Yes, it doesn't matter. You're the best Light."
"I know, I know. Anyway, let's continue," he turned his attention back to his book. "He is Austin Martin, a fugitive of his country. Right now his on the run with his family after staging a failed coup. After a detailed investigation into him and his family, by the other Avatar and his assistants, he and his entire family were sentenced to the Death Penalty but some 'loyalties to their cause,' rescued and managed to get them here in Melt. Where they have 'Immunity.' That's why you're here, Helen."
He looked up from his book, only to find Helen sitting at the windowside gazing at a bird, while holding a dart. Aiming and patiently biding her time to strike.
'The attention span of a child,' Light thought.
