Chapter 570 - Balance

Morning arrived quietly at the mansion, bringing a calm that felt deeper than in previous days. It wasn't just the absence of problems. It was a real pause, as if the world outside had slowed down for a few hours.

I woke earlier than usual. The habit still remained, even without an immediate mission or clear urgency. I walked through the corridors with light steps, observing the surroundings. Nothing was out of place. No sign of tension. Just routine.

As I went down to the main hall, I found Elara near the window, looking outside.

"You wake up too early," I commented.

"So do you," she replied, without looking away.

I approached, following her gaze. The city seemed calm. People going about their routines, unhurried.

"It's quiet," I said.

"For now."

I nodded slightly. She wasn't wrong. None of that meant permanent safety.

"But today… it is," she added.

We stayed silent for a few seconds.

There was no need to say more.

Soon after, light footsteps echoed through the corridor. Lyannis appeared, her hair slightly messy, but with the same attentive look as always.

"You two already in this serious mood?"

"You've already started with comments," Elara said.

"It's my role."

"It's not."

Lyannis ignored the reply and threw herself onto the sofa.

"Today is too calm."

"Does that bother you?" I asked.

"A little," she replied. "Feels like something is waiting."

"Or you just don't know how to stay still," Elara said.

"That too."

A brief silence formed, soon broken by Liriel's arrival. She entered with her usual firm posture, but without the rigidity of previous days.

"No arguments today?" she asked.

"Not yet," Lyannis replied.

"Good."

Liriel sat in a nearby chair, keeping her attention on the surroundings.

Shortly after, Scarlett appeared. Unlike other days, she wasn't carrying anything. She simply walked to the center of the room, observing everyone for a moment before speaking.

"You're all here."

"Sharp observation," Lyannis said.

Scarlett ignored her.

"No mission today."

"So far," I corrected.

"So far," she repeated.

Rai'kanna was the last to arrive. Her presence brought a slight shift to the atmosphere, as always. Not tension, but a natural awareness.

"It's calm," she said.

"Everyone already noticed," Lyannis commented.

Rai'kanna didn't reply. She just approached, standing near the wall.

The group was gathered.

No immediate plan.

No urgency.

Just… there.

I looked around for a few seconds.

Each of them occupying the space in their own way.

Elara observing.

Lyannis relaxed.

Liriel attentive.

Scarlett silent.

Rai'kanna steady.

None the same as the others.

And yet…

Working.

"This is rare," I said.

Scarlett looked at me.

"What is?"

"Being like this."

"Without problems?"

"Without immediate pressure."

She nodded slightly.

"Yes."

Lyannis stretched on the sofa.

"I could get used to this."

"You'd get bored in two days," Liriel said.

"A day and a half," Elara corrected.

Lyannis smiled.

"You know me well."

The atmosphere remained light.

No need for control.

No need for command.

For the first time in a while…

I didn't need to do anything.

The realization came simply.

Directly.

And unexpectedly clear.

"You can handle things without me," I said.

The comment made the group react in different ways.

Lyannis slightly raised her head.

"That sounded weird."

Liriel frowned.

"Where did that come from?"

Scarlett just watched.

Rai'kanna answered first.

"We can."

Silence formed for a moment.

"But that's not the point," she continued.

I looked at her.

"What is?"

"You're not here because we need you to do everything."

Scarlett nodded slightly.

"You're here because you keep everything functioning."

"That's not the same thing," Elara said.

"It's different," she added.

I thought for a few seconds.

"So what do I do exactly?"

Lyannis answered first.

"You hold the center."

The answer was simple.

But it made sense.

Liriel added:

"You organize when needed."

Scarlett continued:

"And decide when no one decides."

Rai'kanna finished:

"And keep everyone moving in the same direction."

I stayed silent.

Processing.

There was no exaggeration in their words.

No attempt to inflate anything.

It was simply… how they saw it.

I looked around again.

At the group.

At the space.

At what this had become.

It wasn't just a group of people.

It was a structure.

Something that worked.

Something that endured.

Something that adapted.

And above all…

Something that continued.

"So it's not about carrying everything," I said.

"No," Scarlett said.

"It's about maintaining balance," Rai'kanna added.

The word lingered in the air.

Balance.

Simple.

But precise.

Lyannis slowly got up from the sofa.

"Well, look at that," she said. "He finally got it."

"Don't exaggerate," I replied.

"I never exaggerate."

Elara let out a small sigh.

"You always exaggerate."

Liriel looked away, but the slight relaxation in her posture said enough.

The atmosphere stabilized again.

No tension.

No need for adjustment.

Just… working.

I walked to the window, looking outside once more.

The city was still calm.

But unlike before…

I didn't see it as a fragile pause.

I saw it as part of something bigger.

Something that was being built.

And when it would be tested…

It wouldn't break easily.

I looked back at the group.

They were still there.

The same as before.

No sudden changes.

But with a clear foundation.

Firm.

And reliable.

I took a deep breath.

"So this is it," I said.

"This is what?" Lyannis asked.

"It's working."

Scarlett responded with a slight nod.

"It is."

Rai'kanna kept her gaze steady.

"And it will keep working."

No one disagreed.

The silence that followed wasn't empty.

It was complete.

Without doubt.

Without the need for confirmation.

Just the simple certainty that, despite what was coming…

They were ready to face it.

Together.

And in balance.
