Chapter 571 - Summons

The change did not come with noise.

There were no explosions, nor disorganized rushing through the streets. The city still seemed calm on the surface, but something subtle had shifted. It was noticeable in the way people looked at each other, in the small groups forming on corners, in conversations that stopped when someone approached.

It was as if everyone knew.

Even without saying it.

That morning, even before anyone in the mansion said anything, a presence was already waiting outside.

I was the first to notice.

When I opened the main door, I found a messenger standing near the gate. He held a firm posture, wearing the symbol of the main guild on his chest. He didn't look tired, but he also wasn't there for anything ordinary.

"Takumi?" he asked.

"That's me."

He nodded, pulling out a small sealed scroll.

"Direct order from the central guild."

I took the document, feeling the light weight of the intact seal. It wasn't an invitation. It was a summons.

The messenger didn't wait for a response.

"All high-rank adventurers have been called. Attendance is mandatory."

"When?"

"Today."

I looked at him for a moment.

"What time?"

"Before sunset."

I gave a slight nod.

"Understood."

He simply gave a brief gesture with his head before stepping away. No farewells, no further explanations.

I closed the door slowly, still holding the scroll.

The silence inside the mansion contrasted with what it meant.

I returned to the main hall.

Elara was the first to notice.

"Something changed."

"Yes."

All eyes turned toward me as I entered.

"Guild summons," I said, showing the seal.

Lyannis shifted on the sofa.

"That doesn't sound light."

"It isn't."

Liriel was already standing.

"Mandatory?"

"Yes."

Scarlett stepped forward.

"So it's begun."

Rai'kanna didn't speak immediately, but her expression made it clear she had already expected this.

I opened the scroll.

The content was direct.

No embellishment.

An emergency meeting. All regional guilds, high-level adventurers, and representatives from different territories were to be present. The objective wasn't specified, but it didn't need to be.

Everyone already knew.

I folded the scroll again.

"It's today," I repeated.

"Then we don't have much time," said Liriel.

"We don't need long preparation," Elara commented. "Just presence."

Lyannis crossed her arms.

"This will be interesting."

"Or problematic," Scarlett corrected.

"Same thing depending on the perspective."

Scarlett didn't respond.

Rai'kanna stepped a bit closer.

"It's not just the guild."

I looked at her.

"What do you mean?"

"If they called everyone… then it's not just local organization."

That made sense.

This was bigger.

Much bigger.

"Representatives from other races will be there," she added.

The atmosphere shifted.

Not drastically.

But enough.

"So it's official," said Elara. "This turned into a mobilization."

"It already was," Scarlett replied.

The silence that followed was heavier.

Not fear.

But understanding.

It was no longer about small missions or isolated attacks.

It was something structured.

"You're coming with me," I said.

"That doesn't even need to be said," Lyannis replied.

"We're going," confirmed Liriel.

Scarlett nodded.

"Of course."

Rai'kanna simply crossed her arms.

"It doesn't make sense to stay."

I nodded slightly.

"Then we leave soon."

No one questioned it.

There was no reason to.

Each of them prepared in their own way.

No rushing.

No disorder.

Efficiency was already part of the group.

A few minutes later, everyone was ready.

Weapons adjusted.

Equipment checked.

No excess.

We left the mansion with firm steps.

The city, unlike the earlier calm, now showed clearer signs. Small groups of adventurers moved in the same direction. Some spoke quietly, others simply walked in silence.

No one seemed unaware of what was happening.

"Everyone really was called," Lyannis commented.

"Yes," Elara replied.

"This isn't common."

"Not at all."

We moved through the streets without rushing excessively, but without wasting time. The central guild was located closer to the center of the city, a larger, more imposing structure than the others.

And as we approached…

It became clear.

This was not a normal meeting.

The entrance was crowded.

Adventurers of different levels, styles, and origins. Some familiar, others completely new. There were also figures who did not belong to the local guild.

Different armors.

Heavier presences.

"This will be interesting," Lyannis said, observing around.

"Focus," Liriel replied.

Scarlett kept her gaze sharp.

"They're not here for nothing."

Rai'kanna analyzed everything in silence.

We entered.

The interior was even more crowded. Low conversations filled the space, but no one raised their voice. There was respect.

Or caution.

Perhaps both.

We moved to a more open area, where it was already possible to see a prepared structure in the center. A kind of reserved space, clearly meant for those who would lead the meeting.

"It's starting soon," said Elara.

"Yes," I replied.

I looked around once more.

Different groups.

Different forces.

All gathered in the same place.

For a single reason.

The final confirmation came silently.

But definitively.

The war was no longer a distant possibility.

It was something being prepared.

There.

At that moment.

I turned my gaze back to the group beside me.

They were ready.

No hesitation.

No doubt.

I took a deep breath.

"So this is it," I said.

Rai'kanna answered first.

"This is just the beginning."

No one disagreed.

And, for the first time since everything began…

It became clear.

There was no turning back.
