"Thank you for today. Your presence strengthened my position in the company."
Gu Liansheng's eyes crinkled. "I promised you that I won't let your parents' company fall into the hands of outsiders, and I'll do just that."
Shen Linyi's eyes softened as she wiped them.
"Oh, I forgot to inform you. Tomorrow is my uncle's birthday." He didn't say much but Shen Linyi knew what he wanted to say.
"I'll get prepared." She mumbled before her eyes brightened. "What does your Uncle like? I should get him a gift as his niece."
Gu Liansheng shook his head. "You don't have to bother about it. My uncle doesn't mind, our presence should be enough."
"That won't do!" Shen Linyi protested, rising to her feet instantly. "I'm your wife. I think it's more than appropriate for me to get your uncle a gift."
She paced around the room with Gu Liansheng's gaze on her. His lips faintly curved. Perhaps — perhaps it wasn't a bad idea having her as his wife.
