Chapter 125 - The One Water Bing’er Has a Crush On

Xue Wu coaxed gently, "Why don't you just get yourself a girlfriend? That way, all those rumors flying around the academy would die on their own."

The corner of Luo Yu's mouth twitched. "So being single means there's something wrong with me now?"

"Our academy has so many pure, unmarried girls waiting around you," Xue Wu egged him on. "Just pick one and be done with it. Look at our team—who here doesn't have at least a little affection for you?"

Luo Yu hadn't even had time to respond when—

"Xue Wu!!"

Six reproachful voices rang out at the same time. Every one of the girls shot her an embarrassed, annoyed glare, their beautiful eyes instinctively dodging Luo Yu's gaze.

Xue Wu's cheeks flushed slightly. She leaned closer to Luo Yu and nudged him with her elbow. "You're young and full of vigor—don't tell me you don't have needs. Just find one already."

"Xue Wu, it's one thing if you're feeling lovestruck yourself, but do you really have to drag the rest of us into it with your big mouth?" Water Bing'er scolded.

Xue Wu's face turned red, but she answered righteously, "Who's lovestruck? I'm doing a public service here—concerned about the lifelong happiness of the only man in our academy. I'm just voicing the heartfelt wishes of all our sisters."

"Stop." Luo Yu felt his head starting to ache. He casually tossed out an excuse and made a swift retreat.

Watching the man flee as if escaping for his life, Shui Yue'er stomped her little boots. "Sister Xue Wu, what was that all about today? You scared Brother Yu away."

Xue Wu swept her gaze over the girls' expressions and curled her lips. "You're all pretending to be innocent here. Don't tell me what you're thinking is any different from what I said."

"You were way too direct," Shui Yue'er muttered with her head lowered.

Xue Wu frowned. "Honestly, if it were any other man stuck in this environment, he'd have seized the chance already—left arm, right arm,夜夜笙歌. What's wrong with this guy?"

Water Bing'er replied gently, "Why do you think Luo Yu is so popular at our academy? Is it really just because he's handsome and strong?"

"With just those two points, he's already captured half the female students," Xue Wu rolled her eyes.

"And the rest?" Water Bing'er asked softly. "Including you."

Xue Wu's bold gaze instantly dimmed, as if her thoughts had been exposed. Her body trembled slightly. More importantly, she caught the hidden meaning in Water Bing'er's words.

Winning over some people and completely sweeping everyone off their feet were two very different things.

"Bing'er…" Xue Wu sighed.

"What is it?"

Xue Wu looked up at the sky, her once-bouncing curves settling down. "I used to think it'd be fine if a man married two wives. That's how the elders in my family were. But when it comes to Luo Yu… I actually wish he were a bit more flirtatious."

"Why?" Water Bing'er asked.

"If he's the type who only loves one woman to the grave," Xue Wu said quietly, "then even if I exhaust myself, I'd never squeeze my way in."

Shui Yue'er walked over and patted her shoulder. "Sister Xue Wu, if he's devoted to one person, your enemy might only be one woman. If he's generous with his love… I feel like your enemies would be so many you'd start trembling."

Xue Wu glared at her. "Get lost. That's not comforting at all. Don't think I don't know what you little brat are thinking."

At the same time, Mo Xue and the others smiled in relief. How could they possibly not feel fondness for Luo Yu? But they understood that since ancient times, geniuses and beauties stood too far apart. There was simply no real chance, so they had long since abandoned any unrealistic hopes.

Just being friends with someone like him was already enough.

"Alright, alright," Water Bing'er stepped forward. "Let's stop talking about useless things. Don't forget our goal in the tournament."

Xue Wu poked Shui Yue'er in the waist and whispered, "Everyone on the team has at least some feelings for Luo Yu. So why does it feel like your sister is a little… off?"

Shui Yue'er leaned over and whispered back, "My sister? She has a crush on Brother Yu's master. Even though she's only seen him once."

Xue Wu stared at Water Bing'er in disbelief, looking like iron that refused to become steel. "Is your sister out of her mind? The real treasure is right here! I don't have much advantage in this competition—but you're sisters!"

Shui Yue'er pouted unhappily. "My sister says Brother Yu's master is even more charming than him. I don't believe it."

Xue Wu was utterly shocked.

"By the way, Sister Xue Wu," Shui Yue'er's gaze drifted downward, "who said you don't have an advantage?"

"Looking for a beating, are you?" Xue Wu snapped. "You dare tease your big sister?"

Water Bing'er naturally heard their hushed conversation, but she said nothing. In her mind surfaced the image of that邪魅而威严 figure who had saved her in the dead of night.

On the other side, Luo Yu was heading back to the dormitory to cultivate.

The spiritual being gestating within his martial soul hadn't emerged yet, and the longer it stayed quiet, the more curious—and itchy—he felt. Coincidentally, Su Yao Yun had gone out to hunt soul beasts these past few days, granting him some rare peace.

"Luo Yu! Wait for me!"

A girl with short, ear-length hair ran over. Her bright eyes were lively, and she wore a pale cyan fairy-like dress.

Luo Yu turned around. "Ning Rongrong?"

"I passed the academy's assessment!" Ning Rongrong said excitedly. "I can officially enroll now!"

"Oh?"

Luo Yu was genuinely surprised. He hadn't expected the little princess of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect to last so long doing logistics work. That really didn't fit her usual style.

"Congratulations."

"Yes! That means we'll be classmates from now on." Ning Rongrong extended her small hand shyly.

Luo Yu didn't slight her. He took her hand, gave it a light squeeze, and released it immediately.

"Can I come find you to hang out sometimes?" Ning Rongrong asked, a little embarrassed.

"No."

She stared at him in shock, completely unprepared for such a clean rejection.

Luo Yu continued, "But if you have any questions about cultivation, you can come ask me."

Her face instantly lit up, and she nodded enthusiastically.

"Oh, right. Grandpa Sword sent word—he wants to take you as his direct disciple. My father also hopes you'll come to our family after graduation."

Luo Yu shook his head. "Please thank Sect Master Ning for his kindness, but I'm used to being free and unrestrained. I can't stand being bound."

"Hehe, I told them you'd definitely refuse," Ning Rongrong said, her eyes sparkling.

"Oh?"

She smiled with pride and spirit. "A true genius would never be content living under someone else, nor allow themselves to be ordered around."

Luo Yu thought to himself: I didn't think that deeply. I'm just lazy and don't want to work for a sect.

"I'm heading off then. Now that I'm free, we'll be seeing each other a lot more." Ning Rongrong smiled sweetly and hopped away.

Luo Yu watched her leave, thoughtful. She felt… different from before.

That brief touch earlier—he'd noticed her fingers were slightly rough. Ning Rongrong used to be someone whose hands never touched a drop of labor. That could only mean she'd been doing a lot of work in Tianshui recently.

"This woman gave up a life of comfort… what exactly is she here for?" Luo Yu shook his head.
