As the match was about to begin, countless cheers erupted at once, piercing straight into the clouds.
The enormous plaza was surrounded by tens of thousands of spectators. At its center stood a massive competition arena. Seated high in the golden VIP box were Emperor Xue Ye of the Heaven Dou Empire, the Platinum Bishop, and Ning Fengzhi.
The announcer's voice rang out through a soul-guided amplifier:
"Next is the first match of the first round of the preliminaries—Heaven Dou Royal Academy Second Team versus Shrek Academy. All participating academies, please enter the arena!"
Su Yaoyun walked back from afar to Luo Yu's side.
"Good work," Luo Yu said.
Warmth rose in Su Yaoyun's heart as she curled her lips. "You really need to say that to me?"
"It should be our turn next, right?" Luo Yu asked.
"Yes!" Su Yaoyun's beautiful eyes shimmered. "But seriously—are you really going to make a move already in the preliminaries?"
Luo Yu rolled his neck, bones cracking softly. His long, deep eyes narrowed slightly."Even if Yue'er and the others fought, they'd still win. But I feel like it wouldn't be satisfying enough."
Su Yaoyun looked toward the Elephant Armored Academy team on the other side—faces twisted with excitement, fists clenched and eager to fight—and couldn't help but feel a trace of pity for them.
The lights on the field dimmed. Because of their strange uniforms and arrogant slogans, Shrek Academy's contestants were clearly unpopular with the crowd. Amid waves of boos, they slowly stepped onto the stage.
The central arena stood ten meters tall, over thirty meters in diameter—vast and open—everything on it clearly visible to every spectator.
Listening to the jeers around him, Dai Mubai sneered."Once this match is over, all those boos will turn into cheers."
Ma Hongjun looked at the pretty spectators around the arena, feeling the evil fire in his body boil uncontrollably. Spreading his arms proudly, he said,"After this match, I'll earn priority mating rights."
Tang San looked at the distracted Xiao Wu, his expression turning cold."Bad mood. Finish them within one minute."
Ever since stepping onto the stage, Zhu Zhuqing's eyes had been fixed on Luo Yu's direction, as if she were waiting for something. Gradually, the light in her beautiful eyes dimmed.
Then she saw Luo Yu seem to smile faintly in her direction.
Instantly, a flush rose to Zhu Zhuqing's face. The icy aura around her softened at once. As an agility-type soul master, her heart should have been calm as still water—but now, waves surged within.
Clench. Clench.
Dai Mubai, who had noticed the situation, nearly crushed his molars. His fists clenched tightly. Following Zhu Zhuqing's gaze, he naturally saw the person he hated most.

The Heaven Dou Royal Academy Second Team stepped onto the stage. Tang San walked over and patted Dai Mubai on the shoulder.
"Boss Dai, the match comes first. Win with style—show that guy down there."
"Mm."
Every member of the Heaven Dou Royal Academy wore light-golden uniforms, with the words "Heaven Dou" embroidered on the left chest and seven silver stars clustered on the back. Under the lights, they looked heroic and radiant—like miniature suns.
Their captain, Chu Tian, strode proudly at the front, completely ignoring the obscure Shrek team. Instead, he showed off flamboyantly toward the Tianshui Academy below.

"Hehe." Shui Bing'er covered her mouth and laughed. "You two really aren't holding back."
Luo Yu shook his head beside them.
"What's wrong, Brother Yu?" Shui Yue'er asked.
"Trash isn't worth discussing. Either ignore it completely, or talk to them directly—properly."
"Heehee, got it." Shui Yue'er stuck out her tongue embarrassedly.
Xue Wu and Ning Rongrong both fell thoughtful. Thinking back, they realized they'd never seen Luo Yu gossip behind others' backs—he either ignored them entirely or dealt with them head-on.
Both girls' hearts skipped a beat.The man they liked really did have a bearing unlike anyone else.
"The first match of the first round of the preliminaries—begin!"
At the command, battle erupted instantly.
Dai Mubai raised his hands before his chest and shouted,"Brothers, activate your martial souls—White Tiger Possession!"
Two yellow and two purple soul rings flashed brilliantly around Dai Mubai. Tang San's aura showed no weakness either, and together with Zhu Zhuqing's four silent soul rings, the stands erupted in shocked cries.

Dai Mubai charged first. Tang San followed closely, releasing Blue Silver Grass. A Blue Silver Prison snapped toward the stunned Heaven Dou Second Team, catching them off guard—especially their captain Chu Tian, whose confidence vanished instantly.
"White Tiger Meteor Shower!"
Dai Mubai roared. Golden tiger patterns spread across his powerful body as dazzling light burst forth. Centered on him, countless fist-sized golden light orbs rained violently toward the enemies ahead.
Ma Hongjun, along with Tai Long and the others who filled in after Ning Rongrong left, unleashed their strongest soul skills together—determined to crush the opposition in one blow and display Shrek's might.
Boom!
The Heaven Dou Second Team broke free from the prison and counterattacked. Both sides clashed head-on, soul skills colliding in a dazzling storm of color. The arena floor, reinforced to extreme durability, didn't even crack under the ferocious battle.
Emperor Xue Ye turned his head slightly."Fengzhi, is this the championship team you predicted?"
The Platinum Bishop also shifted his gaze.
Ning Fengzhi shook his head."This team is strong, but still lacking. From my observation, some of their members have unstable auras—they were forcibly piled up to level forty using resources."
"Oh?" Emperor Xue Ye's interest was piqued. "Even this team doesn't meet your standards?"
His eyes swept the field below, searching for the team Ning Fengzhi truly meant.
When the dust on the arena finally settled, gasps rang out from the audience.
Every member of the gorgeously dressed Heaven Dou Second Team lay sprawled on the ground, filthy and unconscious.
Dai Mubai stood proudly with his head raised, one foot planted on Captain Chu Tian's stomach. Listening to the cheers, boundless arrogance filled his brows.
But when he noticed that Zhu Zhuqing showed no joy after victory—her attention still fixed on another direction—Dai Mubai glared angrily toward Luo Yu. A cruel smile split his lips. Mockery and disdain bloomed in his邪眸 as he raised his thumb… then slowly turned it downward.
Tang San's cold gaze swept across the stands, as if questioning the crowd with his eyes—where were their jeers now? Who was the real powerhouse?
"Referee! I protest!"
The Heaven Dou Academy instructor roared in fury, seeing his team members unconscious, bloodied, bones broken, even trampled underfoot.
"They weren't competing—they were trying to kill! They violated the rules! I demand Shrek be judged defeated!"
The referee finally reacted, casting a stern look toward Shrek's side.
Tang San smiled calmly."Honorable referee, I only ask one question."
"Are they… dead?"
The referee frowned at the cold tone. Scanning the seven fallen members of Heaven Dou Second Team, he saw that although their injuries were severe, they were still breathing.
After a long look at Tang San, the referee announced,"First match of the first round—Shrek Academy wins."
"Boom—!"
The stands exploded with heated discussion.
Emperor Xue Ye's face darkened. Heaven Dou Second Team's crushing defeat was a direct slap to his authority.
The announcer shouted,"Contestants from the first match, please leave the stage."
"Wait!" Dai Mubai raised his hand.
The announcer's voice echoed through the amplifier."This contestant seems to have something to say?"
Standing tall on the stage, Dai Mubai looked down arrogantly, his邪眸 locking onto a spot in the crowd. He extended a finger, pointing straight at Luo Yu.
"Crippled brat, I'll be waiting for you to challenge me. Before you meet me, don't lose too early."
He channeled his soul power, amplifying his voice across the entire arena. Four soul rings spun brilliantly as the roar of the White Tiger echoed again and again.
"Woah!"
The atmosphere surged to a new peak, voices crashing together.
"You're courting death!" Shui Yue'er was the first to snap.
The girls of Tianshui Academy all flared with rising auras, itching to rush up and beat the arrogant trash to death on the spot.
Luo Yu raised a hand, stopping them.
Seeing that the young man in the wheelchair had something to say, the arena strangely fell silent. His calm voice echoed across the vast plaza.
"Let me challenge you?"
"Are you worthy?"
"You—!"
Seeing the contemptuous gaze—as if he were nothing more than an ant—Dai Mubai felt utterly humiliated. Rage surged, his head pounding.
Team captains from all academies, along with Emperor Xue Ye and the Platinum Bishop above, all turned their attention to Luo Yu.
The same question arose in their minds:
"What right does this wheelchair-bound youth have to challenge a four-ring Soul Ancestor—especially one who just crushed Heaven Dou Second Team?"
Only Ning Fengzhi smiled without speaking, appreciation filling his eyes as he gazed at Luo Yu's calm expression.
"It's him?"From Blazing Fire Academy's seats, a red-haired beauty in crimson-gold uniform recognized Luo Yu. "He really joined Tianshui Academy?"
Dai Mubai tried to speak again, but the referee directly forced him off the stage.
"The second match of the first round—Elephant Armored Academy versus Tianshui Academy!"
"Contestants, please enter the arena!"
"Brother Yu, it's our turn." Shui Yue'er said.
"Let's go."
