Chapter 72 - Chapter 71 : I've come to take you home

Lightly tapping the air twice, Xiao Yan vanished from the sky and reappeared silently at the town's entrance.

A few people passed by, but none noticed that a black-clad youth had appeared out of nowhere.

He looked up at the massive stone monument bearing three engraved characters: Qingshan Town.

A nostalgic warmth filled his chest as he stepped forward and walked into the bustling streets.

The deeper he went, the livelier it became.....vendors shouting, people laughing, the noise of trade and life filling the air.

The Magical Beast Mountains stretched endlessly beyond this place, spanning nearly half the northwest continent.

Rich in resources and teeming with countless beasts, rare herbs, and even heavenly treasures, it was a land of both danger and opportunity.

Towns like this.....frontiers of commerce and adventure....sprang up wherever humans dared to settle near the wild range.

Qingshan Town was one of them.

Mercenaries filled the streets, men who lived daily between life and death.

They ate meat straight off the bone, gulped wine by the bowl, and boasted loudly about which tavern had the best women, which drink burned the fiercest, and which beasts were the hardest to kill.

The rowdy energy didn't irritate Xiao Yan at all. Instead, it brought a sense of peace.

This was where his true journey toward power had once begun.

Walking along the stone-paved streets, feeling the weight of time in every step, Xiao Yan turned a few corners until he stopped before a large herbal shop.

Above the door hung a sign carved with three familiar words:

"Ten Thousand Medicines Hall."

Even with his calm nature, Xiao Yan's heart stirred. A rare impatience flashed in his eyes.

He quickened his pace, stopped at the entrance, and smiled gently at the distracted shop attendant.

"Excuse me," he asked softly, "is the Little Doctor Fairy here?"

His words made a few mercenaries nearby turn curiously.

Seeing that it was just a young boy asking, they quickly lost interest and went back to their business.

The clerk, unimpressed, barely looked at him. "She's not here. What of it?"

Xiao Yan blinked, a little speechless at the attitude, but he kept his composure.

"Not here? May I ask where she went?"

"Probably out gathering herbs. What of it?" the man said lazily.

Xiao Yan took a slow breath. So that's how it is.

He was still in a child's body.....no wonder the man treated him so dismissively.

Suppressing the flicker of annoyance rising within, he asked once more, "Do you know when she'll return?"

"Don't know," the man snapped. "Kid, if you're not buying anything, go home before someone snatches you up."

He waved his hand impatiently, turning away.

That was the last straw.

After years standing at the peak of power, Xiao Yan hadn't been spoken to like this in ages.

Even the most patient person would've felt a spark of anger.....and Xiao Yan was no exception.

Before anyone could react, his right hand flashed.

Smack!

The sound echoed as his palm struck the man's cheek with perfect precision.....not enough to injure, but hard enough to spin him twice in place.

There," Xiao Yan said calmly. "A gift from this Emperor—to teach you some manners."

The clerk froze, stunned for a heartbeat, then his face flushed red with rage.

Humiliated in front of everyone by a child, his fighting aura burst forth....he was actually a Dou Practitioner.

"You brat! I'll break your legs!"

He snatched up a short staff and lunged.

Around them, mercenaries only watched with crossed arms, amused at the coming spectacle.

But just as the blow was about to fall, a soft, airy voice broke through the tension.

Qin Cao, stop."

The gentle tone was firm enough to make the clerk halt mid-swing.

Xiao Yan's eyes flickered...he knew that voice.

He turned toward the sound.

Through the crowd of mercenaries, a girl in white slowly stepped forward.

Her beauty wasn't as dazzling as Xun'er's, but her ethereal grace and gentle aura gave her a unique, unforgettable charm.

Her slender waist, delicate and elegant, added an almost otherworldly allure that made people instinctively want to protect her.

She smiled softly. "Young man, you came to Ten Thousand Medicines Hall looking for me? What brings you here?"

Xiao Yan looked at her.....the girl from his past life, even younger now, her face tender and pure. His expression melted, voice warm and steady.

"Little Doctor Fairy," he said quietly.

"I've come to take you home."
