Chapter 73 - Chapter 72 : To flirt with the Little Doctor Fairy

The lively entrance of Ten Thousand Medicines Hall suddenly fell silent.

Every eye turned toward the black-clad youth who had just spoken.

What did he just say?

Was he serious?

Was he trying to die?

The stillness broke into a wave of dark looks. Around the square, mercenaries narrowed their eyes, sharp with hostility.

In Qingshan Town, every man harbored some fondness for the gentle white-clad girl at the center of the crowd.

So when this strange boy spoke to her in such a bold tone, they all had the same thought....beat him bloody.

"Little brother," the girl said, cheeks tinged with pink, "did you lose your home? If you need help, I can send someone to find your family."

Her soft voice trembled with doubt. She wasn't sure if this boy was confused....or just crazy.

But Xiao Yan only smiled faintly. Looking at her face...so kind, so familiar.....his heart stirred.

If not for that cruel constitution, the Calamity Poison Body, this girl might have lived her whole life as Qingshan Town's beloved Little Doctor Fairy.

And if he, in his past life, had been strong enough sooner… she would never have become that cold, feared Heavenly Poison Empress.

Now the heavens had granted him a second chance....to protect what he once failed to save.

He took a deep breath, dark eyes calm yet impossibly warm.

"You heard me right," he said softly. "I came to take you home.

His tone carried a teasing gentleness..

the same way he'd spoken to her years later as an Emperor.

But the crowd of mercenaries exploded in outrage.

This kid wasn't confused....he was flirting with their goddess.

"Bastard! Daring to insult the Little Doctor Fairy? You're dead!"

Even the girl herself, realizing he was being serious, felt a flash of anger beneath her blush.

With a helpless sigh, she lifted her hand and stepped back.

"Everyone, be gentle," she said quietly. "He's just a child. Don't actually kill him."

She truly was kind....but she also knew kindness without strength was just stupidity.

If she didn't protect herself, her goodness would only invite greed and harm.

Still, she couldn't shake a strange feeling.....something about this boy was different.

His eyes, his calm… they stirred something deep inside her chest.

Several burly mercenaries, scarred from countless battles, cracked their knuckles and stepped forward.

Even the shop assistant, Qin Cao, leapt from behind the counter to join them, his face twisted with fury.

"You little brat! I've been in this town for years and never been humiliated by a kid! That slap.....you're paying it back today!"

The crowd murmured with glee.

Serves him right.

To flirt with the Little Doctor Fairy.....he'd be lucky to leave here alive.

But at the center of it all, the young boy only sighed in mild disappointment.

"Do we really have to fight?" Xiao Yan said. "If you get hurt, it's only going to be troublesome for you."

For a heartbeat, silence. Then the mercenaries burst into laughter.

A thirteen-year-old talking like that to them? The kid had guts.....if not brains.

Even the Little Doctor Fairy froze. For some reason, unease rippled through her heart.

Something about him… felt dangerous.

Before she could speak, Qin Cao roared, "Stop pretending, brat! I'm taking back that slap right now!"

He launched forward, his body surging with Dou Qi, hand swinging straight toward Xiao Yan's face.

That strike could easily shatter bones—he wasn't holding back.

Xiao Yan sighed again.

"Well, you started it. Don't blame me for what happens next."

As the palm cut through the air, Xiao Yan tilted his head slightly.

The wind of the blow brushed his hair, missing entirely. In the same motion, his body twisted, and his fist drove forward like a cannonball.

Boom!

A dull, heavy thud.

Qin Cao's body flew backward, folding over itself before crashing to the ground.

He curled like a shrimp, clutching his stomach and gasping in pain.

The crowd went dead silent.

"He… he dropped him in one hit…"

The surrounding mercenaries paled. From that one punch, they could tell it wasn't luck....the boy's strength was real.

"Together!" one of them barked.

Five or six men attacked at once, their weapons flashing in the light.

Even if it was unfair, none of them dared take chances. Better to be shamed than beaten by a child.

But Xiao Yan only smiled faintly.

"You think more people will make a difference?"
