Meanwhile Menchi was watching Roman, she was actually deep in her emotions.
Revisiting her past, she used to call one place home, but now she was calling this home. It was something that stuck with her, and couldn't shake it away.
Making her realize people had a special ability to rebrand their reality into whatever they imagined.
Home could become anything, paradises could be anything, it was all mental.
But there was always a process, this 'process' was the cause of her earlier dread when originally leaving home.
Revisiting this made her realize everyone didn't want change, but after changing you would look back and agree with the change that took place.
All of this was resonating with her Nen, and unbeknownst to her an ability was forming in the form of the purple jar.
She didn't realize it yet but her thoughts on change and growth were exactly in tune with the nature of the jars radiation.
Though change is always seen as beneficial after the fact. It's actually a trick, people live in the present. The present is more intimate and close than the past. The past is more distant and illusionary, it's impossible to fully grasp and accurately compare to the present.
Without her knowing her manifest purple jar combined with the real purple jar.
The lid of the jar changed, revealing a scene inside. A house reminiscent to the one Roman and Menchi were born in. But it wasn't in a town, but the wilderness.
An ever changing wilderness, surrounding a static house. It was poetic and hard to explain, but it reflected Menchi's emotions perfectly.
It was just unknown what this jar's abilities were. But Menchi felt an understanding of this new ability flood her mind, awakening her from her emotions.
Looking down at the jar below, and seeing the image shocked her. Lifting the lid the scene within stayed the same.
Unsummoning the jar, planning to resummon it to confirm that it was real.
She realized two things, the original purple jar was gone, and that she couldn't resummon the jar.
Though a second later something dawned on her.
Summoning her red and blue cauldron, she pushed them together, and they began to merge. This was eerily similar to how her own purple jar merged with a real purple jar. Though even more eerie was that red and blue naturally merge into the color purple, the same color as the jar.
Things were two perfectly aligned, as if this was all fate. It made no sense.
But as the purple jar reformed with the house and changing wilds, she covered the lid with her palm. Nen enveloping her as she reappeared within the jar.
Though Menchi couldn't be seen through the jar. The scene within had become veiled.
The purple jar returning to its original appearance as if untouched.
A second later returning to its windowed form when Menchi reappeared back in the apparent. Secretly Roman sensed all of this unfold.
Though now Menchi was dazed, comprehending everything she had witnessed.
The house and kitchen were exactly the same as she remembered it.
Though the wilds were forgein, she understood their purpose.
This ability tied to the core of her identity, with three key components. Home, cooking and a hunter.
Her home was there, and the wilds. She knew it was meant to be her hunting ground. The radiation, ever changing the plants and animals within.
Giving her an infinite supply of unique ingredients that she could use to cook forever.
She could exist solely within this jar, to her endless pleasure.
She literally couldn't wait to share this ability with Roman and approached him to quit his training.
But he was already focused on her, and ended his training on his own. Congratulating her on her new ability, and learning all about it.
The ability was extraordinarily powerful, reality breaking so. Consuming a lot of Nen to manifest and enter, conditions and restrictions were needed.
When they went to test it out, she couldn't bring Roman in. It wasn't because the ability didn't allow it, but the Nen required was crazy. Not to mention she couldn't unsummon and resummon the jar a third time.
So for the first restriction, people entering had to use their own Nen to enter, Menchi couldn't take the whole burden.
Each plant and animal needed to come from the real world, entering alive, and needing to be killed to come out. She needed to hunt and prepare a meal for each day she stayed within, and visitors needed to enjoy a meal each day they stayed. In addition these ingredients needed to be in a world class level dish, made by Menchi. And each meal needed to be a world class level dish.
Lastly they made it so the realm could only be entered if one was exhausted and hungry.
Restrictions and Conditions were often portrayed as a method to make Nen ability's more powerful, by refining their intended use.
Though that wasn't truely accurate, restrictions and conditions were actually only there to make an ability an ability more useful.
Whether it was to make a strong ability with high consumption cheaper. Or a weak ability stronger to be more useful.
Killuas transmutation abilities of electricity were a great example of the former.
He could transmute his aura all day, the same for hisoka and his bubblegum.
But both struggled to take them a step further and develop unique abilities.
Killua was able to do this with a condition of recharging with real electricity. Creating ability's like god speed.
While hisoka took a different route. Instead of making abilities he made his bubble gum more powerful by restricting its versatility.
Though it's unknown whether hisoka's abilities are fully known, seeming able to pull off new tricks in every situation. His bungigums range was limited.
Meanwhile what actually strengthened Nen and by extension ability's. Were risks and sacrifices.
This could be seen with Kurapicka and Gon.
Kurapicka made strong conditions to empower his ability's, only able to use them against the phantom troop.
But while that helped his ability's, what really empowered it was the consequence was his own death.
When people made conditions and restrictions they could be broken, but there was always a cost.
This cost wasn't a backlash or harm to befall the user. Instead the Nen needed to unleash an ability through a restriction amplified ten fold.
Gon for example made an ability in the heat of the moment to increase his strength to the limit of his potential at the cost of his life.
While Roman didn't have an ability to sacrifice his life like Gon, or an ability that fed on his lifespan like Kurapicka.
Roman didn't link all of his conditions and restrictions with the threat of death if broken. A powerful risk and sacrifice
Roman did tell Menchi about these things but diswaded her from copying him.
Meanwhile some people had restrictions and conditions that couldn't not be broken, to further an ability.
A permanent limit to an ability that couldn't be crossed or punished for crossing.
This all made Roman think of post-Mortum Nen. Roman always knew about it and understood its significance.
Nen by nature like the soul was strengthened by experience and understanding of the world.
But was there a limit to this?
Roman could only think of death.
Post-Mortum Nen was an eruption of Nen after death when the user wasn't ready to die, or had unresolved dreams, hatred or more.
It was linked to intense emotions, when Nen would live on from the user, until it was destroyed or completed its wish.
Though sometimes people could be revived, and control this post-Mortom Nen. Earning a blessing of strength that would put them at the top of the world.
Roman was secretly scheming for this outcome. He believed it was necessary, it was one reason he decided to manipulate the soul in the first place.
Though this brought up a whole nother concern, didn't he already die once? It was another mystery for him.
A month passed and Menchi successfully earned her first star.
Allowing Roman access to a large database of knowledge, taking another month to go through it all.
It was finally time again for an adventure and Roman had already found his target.
He wasn't yet ready to challenge one of the 14 marches or five shadows.
It was too risky and Roman wanted to gain experience exploring simpler regions.
Sifting through all the options Roman found information about the red, yellow and green clams.
He had not yet found a use for the ones he had. They were all now sitting in Menchi's purple jar.
But from the information he was reading, the one star encyclopedia didn't have all the answers.
Mentioning pretty much everything Roman had figured out, in addition that the green clams were being controlled. Without disclosing what or who was controlling them.
He wouldn't need the second star encyclopedia or explore the place himself.
Ignoring this issue, Roman noted down a few places he wanted to explore next.
Letting Menchi read about them, he told Rogan they were leaving but he was staying.
Roman and Menchi would be back within six months, a month or so before the hunter exam would begin.
Enough time to make sure Rogan was ready and everything was in order.
Booking a flight for a location halfway across the world, they set off.
Leaving the apartment for Rogan alone.
