Lilian's heart was pounding so hard she thought it might burst out of her chest, her thoughts spiraling as fear took over completely.
Cassandra was getting closer- walking toward her with that intense, focused gaze- and Lilian's panicked mind was already imagining the worst.
Her breathing became shallow.
But when Cassandra finally got closer and stopped right in front of her, she saw something unbelivable and she had to blink her eyes twice to check.
A smile was spreading across Cassandra's face as she locked eyes on Lilian's.
Not a cold, menacing or predatory smile but a sweet, warm, genuinely happy smile.
Wait... what?
"Rose," Cassandra said softly, her voice gentle and filled with concern. "Are you okay?"
Lilian's mind instantly couldn't process what was happening.
