Later that afternoon, Cassandra was finally feeling strong enough to move around.
The silver poisoning had mostly worked its way out of her system, her supernatural healing doing what it did best. But the areas where the silver claws had struck deepest still ached, the wounds healing slower than they should.
She could feel the tender, raw skin on her left shoulder and ribs with every breath.
But she refused to stay in bed any longer.
There were things that needed to be addressed.
Starting with her mother.
Cassandra made her way through the mansion's familiar hallways, her jaw set with determination despite the lingering pain in her body.
She stopped in front of her mother's study and didn't bother knocking.
She pushed the door open and walked in.
Evelyn was seated behind her massive desk, looking as composed and untouchable as ever. She glanced up from whatever document she'd been reading, her expression neutral.
"Cassandra, you should be resting." She said calmly.
