Evelyn returned to the studio just past noon, Selene sat cross-legged on the counter by the door, munching on a sandwich.
When she saw Evelyn step in, she jumped down quickly, brushing crumbs off her clothes.
"Evie!" she called, hurrying over. "What happened? Did they say anything? Are those guys going to be locked up?"
Evelyn couldn't help but laugh.
"Not locked up unfortunately. I don't have the spare time to file a case against some scapegoat. But they were both fined and bloody nose got his license revoked"
Selene cackled dramatically.
"Serves them right. Their smug faces made me so annoyed."
Evelyn turned the key in the lock and pushed open the glass door. The faint scent of fresh paint and new fabric greeted her.
She didn't even ask why Selene didn't go in. That girl has always been weird like that.
Everything inside remained untouched. Neatly arranged mannequins by the windows, fabric swatches on the cutting tables, sewing machines glinting under soft light.
