Evelyn didn't know how long she'd been asleep when she woke up naturally. There was dim light slipping through her half drawn curtains.
The sky outside had darkned greatly with a few stars dotted in the sky. She didn't even realize she had slept that long. It's no wonder her mind felt like it was filled with cotton.
For a brief moment, she lay still, her head sinking into the pillow, caught between sleep and awareness. Then the faint ache at the base of her neck reminded her how stiff she'd gotten from sleeping in this position.
She groaned softly and sat up, rubbing her eyes. She felt terrible. But at the same time, she didn't want to stand up.
She picked up her phone and checked the time. It was already past 8pm. She doubted she would be able to sleep on time tonight.
She frowned softly and pushed herself to her feet. The floor was cool under her bare feet as she walked into the bathroom. The reflection that met her in the mirror was one of half-done fatigue.
