Chapter 18 - Morvane Aaron(?)

Three weeks had already passed from the night I met who could be described as my ancestors, and honestly? Magic had never felt so good.

I had already created a bunch of what the head butler described as tier 1 spells. Magic that makes use of a number from 3 to 5 of runes.

He also explained that the minimum number of runes to create a spell is indeed 3 and they couldn't find a way to reduce that, not that they cared much, with the exception of elemental release.

Something that only someone with elemental inherent mana could achieve.

He also explained that to create a tier 7 spell the MINIMUM number of runes required was 21.

How they put 21 runes in a single formation was beyond my understanding, but I guessed it had something to do with me being a Walker and having some kind of restrictions.

Magic was not the only thing I had achieved some level of progress.

Sure enough the head butler was at his wit's end with my body deciding it was absolutely unacceptable to have a standard form or move with any resemblance of respect for the regular folks.

Be that as it may, my handling of the rapier reached what the demon instructor considered as passable while my hand to hand was: "I honestly have no clue, it's good, but I can't understand you one bit."

And I took it with pride.

However, in the midst of all this good news, there was something disturbing.

"Tch! You've grown again! The seamstresses will kill you this time!"

"Miss. Anne! Please! How is it my fault?! Clearly all this good and nutritious food must have unlocked my paused growth!!"

"5 INCHES IN THREE WEEKS CROW?! THAT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE AT ALL!!"

Yup, miss. Anne had finally opened enough with me to scream at my face, after healing me from basically wing minced meat and all the torture the demon king of wra- the head butler had put me through, she finally felt at ease enough with me to show her true colors.

Oh! I also reached a staggering height of 7'1", nothing special if you were someone from the path of War, but from someone who supposedly belongs to the path of Disorder?

It was kind of confusing. Which fits with the path, so I didn't bother explaining myself.

During our friendly and definitely not angry banter, both Anne and I failed to notice a young man with short curly black hair with a purple shine, golden violet heterochromia and smily face that tuned sour the moment he heard my name.

"Crow? The fuck?"

As I heard the voice, I turned to take a look while continuing to push my extra suits to miss. Anne for her to bring to the seamstress.

"I mean, I know I have a strange name, but that's kinda rude! I'll have you know-"

"That you received that name because three crows were picking on you when you were abandoned in front of the orphanage."

My eyes bulged immediately, and a toothy smile bloomed on my face. I knew exactly who this hot boy was.

I mean, I didn't really know, the last version of him was blonde with green eye, but this was most definitely my new boss.

"I must say Aaron, you are way hott-"

I didn't get to finish my sentence that a stab from the head butler was directly aimed at my neck, which even I didn't know how I evaded.

"This is your master. Show the adequate respect."

My eyes were about to roll into another dimension when Aaron, I mean big boss money bags defended me.

"There's no need Friedrick. I will steal my butler for the rest of the day, is that acceptable?"

"Of course young master, he's yours to begin with."

I wanted to scoff, but I also didn't want to die, so just like the dem- head butler had trained me these past weeks I put on the butler mask and positioned myself behind and to the side of my nameless master while he finished whatever discussion he had come here for in the first place.

Only when he was done I dared to ask.

"Where to master Morvane?"

"To my personal quarters, do you already know the way?"

"Of course, the head butler would stab me in the eye every time I made a wrong turn navigating the palace."

I also didn't know why it was mandatory to call this a palace when it was clearly an hotel, but I didn't make the rules.

Yes. Rules in the house of Disorder, I wanted to shake my head so badly.

I didn't talk anymore and simply made way for the paying pockets to his royal suite.

"Sooo, Crow?"

"Yes master Morvane?"

"Some catching up?"

"Oh! Of course, the servants all think I'm some bastard son of some member of the core family since my confusion mana is as strong as yours, not that I understand what it means, however the elders' spirit? Ghosts? Familiars? I don't really know, but some kinds of shadows said I have zero drops of your family blood in me."

I went on and on explaining everything that happened from the moment he left me with bruised lips, of course with some tweaking here and there, but I still stayed mostly loyal with the description.

It's also incredibly hard to maintain lies with someone I'd basically be living with, so I didn't really bother.

During my entire narration, Aaron (?) continued to alternate between laughter and seriousness, especially during certain parts of my narration.

"Young master, may I ask what's bothering you so much?"

"You seem to like getting naked in front of girls a lot."

"…"

The fuck?

"Young master, did you listen attentively? Especially how I described the goblins evil spirit possessed twins and the fallen angel that only heals when there's been enough torture?"

"Sure, but they saw something I didn't see yet."

The man was actually sulking.

"Bruh?"

"What?"

"You literally banged the only virgin in the harem of the heir of love just to have fun before he could."

"And?"

"You know? Never mind."

I ignored the confused look of someone who never had to receive a no for an answer and began doing my duties.

Which according to the house of Disorder, since it was just before lunchtime, was to prepare Negroni Sbagliato.

During all my movement, the young master's gaze never left me, his golems and violet eyes burning holes in my back, but I didn't flinch.

You know what? I can have a little fun with him right?

"Young master, did you already awaken [Serenity]?"

He looked at me with confusion that only lasted a fraction of a second, then he beamed.

"Of course! Do you wanna see how low you stand in front of someone who actually belongs to the main family?"

Not really, but sure let's put it that way.

I nodded vigorously and he accepted a one spell challenge.

We'd cast a spell at the same time and whoever lost owed a favour to the winner.

"Let's do the standard format they use in magic duels at the academy!"

This fucker… just cast.

"Of course, Young master."

"I, Crow, Walker of confusion challenge you to a magic duel."

"I, Yom Morvane, accept your challenge."

Yom? I guess that's a cool name.

We took a couple of steps to distance ourselves and finally shot our spells.

Yom was the first to shout.

"[Entropy]"

I felt something prick at my mental defences, but quickly died down, then I responded.

"[Foxfire]"

Yom fell to the ground immediately.
