"Hey there, Ethan. Glad to see you're still up."
Ethan's head swam in hurt and confusion. The whole left side of his face was dazzling with sharp pains. He turned over and cleared the stars from his head long enough to see Adam Kirage standing over him, smiling his little puissant smile, holding a baseball bat on his shoulder like he was posing for a sky box card.
"Whuttup!" He shouted
"You're...fucking dead...you lil...fuck!" The words rolled from Ethan's mouth, slow and heavy, and to Adam, unconvincing.
"Yeah, sure." The smaller boy said. "Hey, I like your room. It's not what I expected. No shrunken heads or aborted fetuses."
Ethan pulls himself off the floor, disoriented but able to focus on one thought. Kill Adam!
He felt his jaw to make sure it wasn't broken, and since it moved, albeit with considerable pain, he figured it wasn't. He tried to start charging his body up, ready to pump Adam with enough voltage to bullet the lil son of a bitch right to hell. He finds that he couldn't muster enough focused power to do more than create one hard charge, and unless Adam was close enough to grab, it was useless.
"Yeah...Remember?" Adam said. "Binded area. Can't use your powers here, homes. Which means you fucking witches are pretty much helpless, since we all know you creepy fucks can't fight worth shit."
"Fuck!" Ethan said, crashing back to the floor. He was hurting badly, and there was no magic he could use to fix this one.
The screaming, running, and flailing were still going on outside. The hall's lights were all shut in this area, but Ethan could see the circular beams from flashlights bouncing off the walls and floors. He heard the teens outside screaming as if they were being attacked.
"What's...going on outside?"
Adam shrugs slightly and adjusts the black-rimmed glasses on his face. "It's called a Raid. Since we can't burn you witches at the stake anymore, we figure we'll crash your dorm and put the fear of God into you that way. Fun for us, exercise for you, and we keep the balance of power in Absolution alive."
Adam crashes on Ethan's bed, looks around, sees the bottle of vodka, and picks it up.
"I wanted to ask you more questions about that midnight graveyard, but that's actually not what we're here for today."
"Get the fuck...off my bed, Kirage!" Ethan murmured, still trying to get up off the floor. Adam watched him for a moment, and it seemed he enjoyed the sight. He chuckled again.
"You're funny," Kirage said as he grabbed Ethan by the head, and his knee rocketed up to Ethan's mouth.
Ethan slammed backwards, smashing hard onto his floor again. He could feel the warmth of the blood trickling down his face. Unable to control himself, he threw up on the ground.
"As I was saying, you're not really the target for tonight, so I gotta go. Just had to make sure I neutralized you unless you tried to play hero or something."
"Oh! Also, give me back my wallet, asshole!" Adam growls as a he dives for Ethan. He starts searching his jacket pocket and then his pants pockets for his wallet until he finds it.
"Witches are thieves. That's no surprise," remarked Adam, pushing the walllet back into his own sweat pants.
Ethan begins coughing on the floor. When it stops, he spits at Adam. "You'd better not go anywhere...you little jackass! Yankee piece of shit! You and me...are not done!"
Adam put his hard, black, combat boot on the back of Ethan's head and leaned over pressing his boot into the larger boy's skull and just stomped on his head hard as he stepped over him heading to the other side of Ethan's dorm room.
He saw Ethan's mini fridge, tucked safely under his desk, and went to open it.
"Thanks, man!" He shouted behind him at Ethan as he grabbed a beer, slamming the fridge door shut. He cracked it open and took a guzzle, then squinched his face up, hating the taste of it. He picked up the bat again.
Ethan coughed up some blood as he saw Adam approach with a bat. He was almost relieved when the younger brunette took the bat and slammed it into Ethan's desk, knocking all the stuff off.
His eyes go wide when he looks over at the bed and sees his picture of Katherine. He prayed Adam wouldn't notice it.
Unfortunately, Ethan didn't believe in God, at least not the kind who cared about Ethan's sentimental photographs, so his prayers were useless. Adam tossed the framed photo into the air and swung the bat hard, knocking it against the wall. It exploded into a million little pieces all over Ethan's disheveled twin bed.
Ethan let loose a heartbroken howl. It was so loud it rattled his head and made the pain reignite full force, vibrating to the very core of his being.
Adam watches him, surprised. "That girl in the pic means something to you? I just thought it was another one of your whores."
"You're dead...you're so fucking dead," Ethan growls through tears. He tries struggling to his feet but soon collapses back again, the pain and dizziness too overwhelming.
Adam goes around his dorm room smashing other things until he exhausts himself, forgetting about the picture on the bed at least.
"Whew!" Adam sighs, wiping his brow. He runs his hand over his dark, chocolate hair and picks up the beer for another drink, wincing again.
"Look at you!...Weak ass PUSSY!" Ethan coughs out, seeing Adam's reaction.
"Fuck you, that shit tastes like dirt! Why the hell would anyone drink that willingly?" Adam said, stomping his foot into Ethan's belly.
"AHH!!" Ethan yells, holding his gut.
Adam just shakes his head, leaning the bat against his shoulder as he moves out. Stepping out of Ethan's dorm room, he watches the chaos around him in an almost dreamy, magical haze. He takes another sip of beer, yeah, that stuff definitely takes some getting used to, and he pushes his glasses up. The lights in the halls were off, but the demon hunters were using flashlights to illuminate the Seaward dorms.
Balls of light danced all over the walls and floors down the hallway where all the dorm rooms were.
A quick glance at his watch told him the party would have to end soon. Get in, subdue the faithless, then get out. That was the plan. The Night Shift guards would eventually wake up and hand out demerit slips, maybe even suspensions. Not that Adam was worried. The prince of Saints doesn't get suspended from magic school.
Making his way to the lounge area, Adam watches a female demon hunter, also called a "Nun", pick a book up off the floor and flip through it. He looks over her shoulder, inspecting the find. It's was a tattered black spellbook. This could be the one they were looking for.
The nun, with the sparkly Ruby red lip gloss on her pretty lips, walked past sorcerers and warlocks getting tossed, thrown, and flung this way and that. The witches ran out screaming or tried to help the warlocks in vain. The male demon hunters refused to attack the witches, but there were other nuns around who enjoyed thrashing the female sorcerers. Ruby Lips stops in front of a warlock who was getting beaten up by four different saints. He twists and bends himself away trying to protect his chest and gut, but he ended up leaving his ribs and sides exposed to damage.
The sorcerer wore a black hoodie with the hood pulled over his head. Blades of light blue hair fell over most of his face.
The young warrior nun pushed two of the boys who were kicking the stuffing out of the hooded sorcerer away and grabbed one of their flashlights.
"Stop it! STOP IT! Just for a minute." She stands in front of the boy, who is on his knees, his forehead touching the floor. He squeezed his eyes shut. Blood poured out of his mouth, mixing with the spit and leaking over his teeth and lips in an almost steady stream onto the floor. She watched along with her four brothers as the wizard coughs through already ragged breaths and slowly picks up his head. Blood slides down his chin and falls onto the white shirt that was exposed under the open hoodie.
"No way!" She whispered. Koi picked his face up all the way to look for the voice that was speaking to him. He narrowed his eyes and turned his face. He inhales and exhales hard as he finally recognizes the owner of the melodious female voice.
"Morning?" Koi whispered.
Morning watched him a moment longer, then the look of confusion on her face turned to that of delight. She smiles.
"I just knew I'd see you again, Koi," She said, taking the black spellbook and placing it in her backpack. "Still the Ketsu's little bitch, even after he died. Not much has changed for you, has it?"
Koi doesn't move. He was in too much pain, and he didn't like the sinister wave in Morning's tone.
Not disappointed by the lack of response from him, she stands upright.
"Eat him alive, boys." She said to her brother Demon hunters as she walked away, moving around fallen wizards and warlocks. Whatever. She could still hear Koi's ear-piercing scream as he yelled after her.
The sound made her smile again as she rushed with her fellow demon hunters out the door.
