Chapter 24
Blake
Her eyes roll back in her head. I feel my soul leave my body. I'm yelling and shaking her trying to wake up before I knew what I was doing. I feel hands on me trying to pull me away. I fight with all my might. No one can take her from me. I will burn this world down so she can see it from the other side. It will keep her warm. A hand yanks my head up to see the monitor. Her heart is still beating. I finally hear what they are yelling at me.
"She just passed out. We need you to move so we can work on her" some nurse yells at me. I finally breathe. I stop yelling and move so they can work but i don't let go of her hand. They would have to take my hand before I ever let go. my beautiful girl. I look at her. really look at her. Her silky hair is cut really short in some places, shoulder length in others. There is only a tiny bit that is its original length. Her hand is dripping blood from a big gash on the palm. And her face, her nose is purple blood flowing from it. At first there was blood all over her face, even in her eyes. Which are swollen and bruised. Her lips didn't even make it out without injury. I can't help myself and look down her body. I need to see every injury. More tears fall from my eyes. Her knees, but, legs and feet are all torn up like he was dragged. I feel the sorrow and anger building in my chest. I want to murder him for doing this to her. I also want to take her and run with her. I'm good at it. I could take her as soon as the doctor says she's ok. We could be in another country by tomorrow. I know dad would understand me leaving. The only reason I didn't leave yet is because I want to find out who killed him. I have only called him father on his birthday because that's what he asked for every year. That is one of my biggest regrets. Finally they have her cleaned up and in a gown. They bring us to a room. They tell me she has a concussion. She needed 5 stitches in her hand. There are cuts and abrasions all over her body. She's going to be sore and hurting all over for weeks but her life isn't in danger.
I sit beside her just watching her. They gave her some pain medication. The doctor said she will probably be out all night for me not to try to wake her. She needs her rest. The door swings open and I turn, putting my body in front of her to protect her from whoever is coming in. I relax as soon as I see them. It's Tiffany, Katie and Mike. They look panicked. Katie runs over not even looking at me. When she sees her. She lets out a yelp then a sob. Her body starts to shake. Tiffany and Mike are right behind her. When they see her. Mike says a harsh fuck. Tiffany just stands there with fury in her eyes, her fist is held so tight that her knuckles turn white. They are shaking too but unlike Katie who is shaking with sorrow. they are shaking from anger.
"I was only gone for a minute. How, how, I'm so sorry. I looked everything up. I'm sorry god I'm so sorry." Katie starts to ramble. Tears flowing freely. Mike grabs her as her knees give out on her.
"It's not your fault. Had you been there he would have killed you. Then she would have had to live with that." I tell her to try to comfort her. I don't want to. i want to yell at her for leaving her but the memory of Rose fighting to go save her. All she cared about was if she was ok. How as soon as she heard she was ok she passed out. I will put aside how I feel about it. All that matters is how Rose feels about it. I know her, she wouldn't want her blaming herself. She would just be happy that she's ok. I don't want her stressed out when she wakes up trying to comfort her. I look at all of them again. I see so many colors on them. Fear, sorrow, anger, and worry. They are so bright I can see they care for her deeply.
"How can you say that, look at her" she glares at me. She's not angry with me. She just needs some way to release all the feelings she has in her right now. I can't help it, I'm the same. So I tell her even though it will hurt her a little.
"I can say that because she fought the doctors. Why you may ask because she was trying to get to you she had to make sure you were ok. That he didn't hurt you." I look directly into hers so she can see I'm telling the truth. Her head whips back to Rose.
"You big fool. You should have been worried about yourself not me" she starts ugly crying now. Mike gives me the sink eye. Now him, he's mad at me now. Just just looking for someone to be mad at. He takes Katie outside so she can calm down and not wake Rose. had she done that i wouldn't have held back. Tiffany doesn't move. She just stands there staring at Rose. After a long moment she looks at me.
"What is going on between you too?" she isn't asking out of curiosity. If i don't answer the way she wants she will make it almost impossible for me to see her. I smirk. I would love to see her try to keep us apart. It drops and my face goes completely serious as well.
"I fell in love with her at first sight. She was an angel that walked into my dark and bland life. I know some of her past and that she has trouble trusting people, and that she may never trust me enough to be with me or love me. I don't care, I don't mind being her friend for the rest of our lives. All I want is her to be in my life. I will take it anyway I can. Shit even if all I can do is see her around town. I can even deal with her falling in love with someone else. Don't get me wrong it will rake my heart but that's fine as long as she is happy that's all i want." i don't wait for her response. I turn and look back at Rose. She walks to the door before stepping out. I hear her say.
"We will see" then she was gone. I lay my head on the bed. My eyes get heavy. I try to fight it but they wont listen to me. Everything goes black. Before I knew it I was feeling something heavy being put on my back. It startles me and I jump up. Where is Rose? I look to the bed. She's still sleeping but there is a new blanket on her not one you would get from a hospital. I see movement out of the corner of my eyes. I whip my head in that direction to see how it is. I relax when I see them. It's Ms Barbara and Mr George.
"It's ok, it's just us. We are sorry for waking you. We just didn't want yall getting cold." Ms Barbara tells me walking slowly towards me like I'm a wounded animal.
"I'm sorry I was just startled." I told her as I sat back down. That's when I noticed on the ground was another blanket. That must be what I felt on me. When I jumped up I must have knocked it off of me. I pick it up and put it on my lap.
"Thank you" I tell her when she gets to my side.
"How is she?" She looks like she's about to cry. I told her everything the doctor told me. She tells me that the others are still in the waiting room for when he wakes up. "We need to talk to you about something" i tare my eyes from Rose to look at her.
"What about?"
"We have some other property with a house that no one knows I own. It's under my old name. Don't ask it's a long store, but after she's well enough. We want you to sneak out with her and hide there until this guy is caught." i'm really thinking about it. When I hear Rose.
"I don't want to hide forever." we all turned to look at her tears fell my eyes again as I saw hers. George runs out the room calling for a doctor.
