Evan Lee's POV
I sit on the couch, pretending to be calm — but inside, I'm falling apart.
Ever since Rion Vale walked back into my life, my peace has shattered completely.
Zoe sits across from me, her gaze turned away, refusing to meet my eyes. The silence stretches between us, sharp and suffocating.
"Zoe," I say quietly, trying to keep my voice steady. "Please… just once, give me a chance to explain."
She finally looks at me, her eyes filled with anger that cuts like glass.
"Evan, we've been together since college," she says coldly. "But not once did it feel like we were really lovers. You're always busy — with work, with business, with success. Do you even realize how it feels to be ignored for all that?"
I press my fingers against my temple, exhaling. "Zoe, it's not like that. You know how much pressure I've been under these past months. And last week—I was sick. I didn't tell you because I didn't want to make you worry."
She stays silent, her jaw tight.
