Everyone was exceptionally curious, as they had never seen such things before. They looked this way and that, taking in the sights.
As soon as Eichi entered, he saw rows upon rows of Pokémon eggs. Every single one had different patterns and colors; they were quite beautiful, and the variety left him dazzled.
Director Yanagi stood beside them, gesturing toward the machines as he introduced them, "What you see here are called incubation pods. One Pokémon egg per pod."
"In an incubation pod, we can maintain the most suitable temperature and also monitor the egg's condition."
"If anything happens, we can quickly obtain data. Furthermore, if you look at the screens below, they display all the information regarding the Pokémon egg."
As soon as Director Yanagi finished speaking, Eichi carefully examined the incubation pod in front of him.
The electronic screen below read:
Number: B0127
Pokémon: Chikorita
Father: Meganium
Mother: Venusaur
Optimal Temperature: 50 degrees
Energy Fluctuations: ...
This was a Chikorita. The first few entries were clear, but the rest consisted of professional data that was hard to understand.
There was no point in looking at that part; for them, the first few data points were more than enough.
Seeing that everyone wasn't really listening to him anymore, Director Yanagi said somewhat helplessly, "Alright, everyone go ahead and pick your own Pokémon now."
"Once you've made your choice, let the staff know, and she will help you take it out."
"Hurry along and pick your Pokémon."
The group had been huddled together, but once Director Yanagi gave the word, they all scattered.
Each of them was searching for a Pokémon they liked with looks of pure excitement.
Eichi looked at the next Pokémon egg.
Number: B0128
Pokémon: Cyndaquil
Father: Magmortar
Mother: Typhlosion
Continuing down the line, he saw Totodile, Hoothoot, Zubat, Chinchou, and Natu.
Why are these all Johto region Pokémon? Eichi kept looking along the side: Mareep, Misdreavus, Gligar, Teddiursa.
It was just as he thought; this entire section was dedicated to Johto region Pokémon. Eichi walked over to another machine and randomly checked two eggs.
Number: A1004
Pokémon: Geodude
Number: A1007
Pokémon: Nidoran♀
This area was likely the Kanto region zone. There were a vast number of eggs.
Since there were Pokémon from both Kanto and Johto, then other regions should be represented here as well.
While Eichi was picking his Pokémon, the other students were doing the same.
One of them was Kosei. Her family background was ordinary, and the two Pokémon she currently owned only had Ordinary talent; she didn't have a single Outstanding one yet.
Being able to obtain an Outstanding-grade Pokémon this time was truly vital for her.
She liked cute Pokémon but also wanted to pick one with great potential. Her eyes searched restlessly.
She had never had an opportunity like this before. To be given an Outstanding-grade Pokémon was something she would usually have to pray for.
Because of this, she quickly found a target. She turned to a staff member and said, "Hello, could you help me take out this Pokémon egg?"
When Kosei said this, everyone's eyes gathered on her.
Chosen so quickly? However, after realizing it was Kosei, they thought it over and felt it was understandable.
Kosei wasn't as wealthy as the others; for her, having a Pokémon with decent potential was enough.
The female staff member smiled and said, "Of course, no problem."
She pressed a button beside the incubation pod Kosei had selected, and the entire pod slowly rose from the inside.
The staff member handed the pod to Kosei.
"Thank you!" Kosei said happily as she took it.
Director Yanagi walked over, checked the electronic screen under the empty spot, and said to Kosei, "Tyrogue. This is a good Pokémon."
"Once it reaches its evolution stage, it has three different forms."
Hearing Director Yanagi's words, Eichi now knew which Pokémon Kosei had chosen: Tyrogue.
This Pokémon was indeed good. Tyrogue was a Fighting-type Pokémon.
It had three potential evolutions in the future. During training, if the focus was on Attack, it would evolve into Hitmonlee.
If the focus was on Defense, it would evolve into Hitmonchan.
If Attack and Defense were balanced, it would evolve into Hitmontop.
Director Yanagi said, "Since you've finished picking, go wait in the lobby for a bit."
"Okay, I'm heading out then," Kosei said with a beaming smile.
She then happily walked out holding the incubation pod.
The remaining students continued to choose their eggs. The others were different from Kosei.
They needed to carefully pick one they loved and that suited them.
Sato was like this. He had no interest in Kanto or Johto Pokémon.
Therefore, he was looking for Pokémon from Hoenn, Sinnoh, or even the Unova region.
Although Sato's family was very rich—few families in Kanto were wealthier—and he knew many Pokémon, he wasn't familiar with every single one.
He knew all the Pokémon from the Kanto and Johto regions.
He even knew most of the Pokémon from Hoenn and a bit about Sinnoh and Unova.
But he didn't know everything, so he didn't recognize some of the names written under the eggs.
Some of these Pokémon had only recently been brought in.
Suddenly, Sato saw a Pokémon egg with brown patterns; it looked very simple.
Number: E5027
Pokémon: Drilbur
Type: Ground
Drilbur. He knew this Pokémon; it was from the Unova region and had very good potential.
Furthermore, its evolution possessed both Ground and Steel types.
Coincidentally, he was lacking a Steel-type Pokémon on his team.
Since he had decided, Sato didn't hesitate anymore and asked the staff to take out the egg.
He carried the incubation pod out. Shortly after he left, Konan also chose the Pokémon she needed.
She chose Shinx, an Electric-type Pokémon.
Now three people had finished their selection, and the others picked up their pace.
Eichi noticed that everyone was clustering around the Hoenn, Sinnoh, and Unova regions.
After all, there were many Pokémon there that they didn't know much about.
Interest was high. After a while, Ami, Shinta, and Ishida also finished their selections.
They chose Buneary, Bronzor, and Shellos, respectively.
Only Kelly, Matsumoto, Tetsu, and Eichi were left inside.
Eichi was still searching for his target. He knew his goal was to specialize in Bug-types.
Even if he craved other Pokémon, he had to harden his heart and pass them up.
Just then, he saw a Pokémon egg with a deep blue pattern.
Eichi took a look:
Number: B4026
Pokémon: Heracross
Type: Bug / Fighting
It was actually a Heracross. If he didn't already have one, he might have chosen this Heracross this time.
