In the lobby of the incubation room, Kosei sat on the sofa after coming out, her hands never leaving the incubation pod. From time to time, she whispered to the Pokémon egg inside as if it could actually hear her.
A staff member walked over and said, "Hello. Could you come over to register? We need to record which Pokémon egg you took."
"No problem," Kosei replied, standing up with a smile.
"Great, please follow me," the female staff member said. Kosei followed her to complete the registration.
Five minutes later, once the information was entered into the computer, the staff member smiled at Kosei. "Alright, the registration is complete. From this moment on, this Pokémon egg officially belongs to you."
"Thank you!" Kosei said, her face beaming with joy.
The staff member then reminded her, "By the way, remember to return the incubation pod after the Pokémon hatches."
"I understand," Kosei laughed. "I will definitely bring the incubation pod back."
At that moment, Sato also emerged. Kosei went over to tell him to register.
As time passed, most of the students came out and nearly everyone had finished their registration. They all waited in the lobby. An hour had passed since they started, and everyone was beginning to grow a bit impatient.
Just then, Director Yanagi came out. As soon as he appeared, Tetsu walked over to ask, "Director, is Eichi still inside?"
Director Yanagi sat on the sofa with a look of pure relief. He had been standing for over an hour, and his feet were incredibly sore.
After a few seconds, he replied, "Eichi said he wanted to look around a bit longer."
"I remember there were several good Pokémon eggs in there. I don't understand why Eichi hasn't picked one yet," Tetsu said, looking confused.
He then turned to the others. Kelly shook her head, indicating she knew nothing. People like Matsumoto and Ishida also pretended to be clueless.
Aki then spoke up, "How could we possibly know what Eichi is thinking? Perhaps he has his own reasons."
The group waited for another ten minutes before Eichi finally emerged. They watched as he carried out an incubation pod and followed a staff member to the counter to register.
Once he finished, he joined the area where everyone was sitting.
Tetsu was the first to greet him, looking at Eichi's Pokémon egg with intense curiosity. "Eichi, Eichi! What kind of Pokémon egg is that? You took so long to choose; I'm dying to know what you picked."
"I don't know either," Eichi said, glancing at the incubation pod.
Tetsu: ???
Everyone else: ???
Eichi's response left everyone utterly bewildered.
"What do you mean you don't know?" Tetsu asked, stunned. "You picked the egg, and you don't know what it is?"
The others all turned their gazes toward him as well.
Eichi chuckled. "I truly don't know what kind of Pokémon egg it is."
At this point, Director Yanagi stood up and asked, "Eichi, you didn't choose one of those unnamed Pokémon eggs, did you?"
Unnamed Pokémon eggs?
Tetsu's face was full of questions as he turned to ask, "Director, what are unnamed Pokémon eggs?"
It was the first time the others had heard the term as well.
Director Yanagi began to explain, "Because our academy's breeding garden is right next to Mount Silver, Pokémon from the mountain occasionally wander into the garden. Some even leave eggs behind."
"We don't know who those eggs belong to, so we have to group those unknown Pokémon eggs together."
"Precisely because they are unknown, we have no idea what Pokémon is inside or what its talent grade might be."
"Choosing an unnamed Pokémon egg is a gamble. If you're lucky, you get a Pokémon with great talent. If you're unlucky, you might hatch a Pokémon with Ordinary talent."
After hearing Director Yanagi's explanation, everyone understood the situation. Tetsu looked at Eichi with concern. "Eichi, do you want to reconsider? This is too risky. What if you hatch a Pokémon with Ordinary talent?"
Eichi smiled. "Don't worry, I have confidence. I won't regret choosing this Pokémon in the future."
"And even if it turns out to be a Pokémon with Ordinary talent, with my abilities, it won't be long before I can exchange for another one."
Seeing that Eichi's mind was made up, Tetsu felt relieved and said no more.
Seeing that everyone had finished their selection, Director Yanagi said, "Alright, now that everyone has picked, let's head back. The exchange tournament between the two academies can be considered a successful conclusion."
Everyone began to say their goodbyes to Director Yanagi, eager to return.
"Goodbye, Director Yanagi!"
"Let's go!"
"I want to see when my baby will hatch."
Eichi also bid farewell. "Director, I'm leaving now."
Director Yanagi sat on the sofa and waved. "Go ahead."
Eichi then headed back with Tetsu.
On the way back, both were carrying their incubation pods. Looking at the one in Tetsu's arms, Eichi remarked with a hint of admiration, "Tetsu, you're really lucky to have found a Trapinch egg."
"Hehe, my luck was indeed good," Tetsu said, clutching the pod. "Kosei picked her Pokémon early."
"Ami, Kelly, and Ishida had Pokémon they already liked."
"It felt like Sato, Konan, and Matsumoto looked down on Trapinch, so in the end, I got the lucky break."
After saying that, Tetsu added with some worry, "Eichi, is it really okay that you chose an unnamed Pokémon egg?"
Eichi laughed. "Of course. I trust my choice."
After parting ways with Tetsu, Eichi returned to his room and placed the incubation pod on the living room table.
He released his three Pokémon. As soon as Beedrill, Scizor, and Heracross emerged, they saw the Pokémon egg inside the incubation pod on the table.
He pointed at the egg and said, "Let me introduce you. This will be your new partner and the fourth member of our family from now on."
"Though we don't know who it is yet, that doesn't stop us from looking forward to it."
Once he finished speaking, Heracross couldn't wait. It stepped forward and leaned against the glass, carefully observing the Pokémon egg inside.
Scizor also leaned in to look. The egg had patterns of blue and white waves on the outside.
It was very beautiful. Heracross had seen many Pokémon eggs while following its former leader, but just looking at the outside, it really couldn't tell what Pokémon it was.
Beedrill didn't crowd forward but watched from a distance, curious about who the new member would be.
