The world went still for a moment.
Mo Yuzhen froze in disbelief as her words echoed endlessly in his mind.
Married?
He stared at Tang Xiyu blankly, as if he had suddenly lost the ability to understand language. Then, abruptly, he burst out laughing. The sound was sharp and hollow, cutting through the tense night air.
"You're kidding, right?" he said, laughter still spilling from his lips, eyes fixed on her face as if waiting for her to crack a joke.
Tang Xiyu looked at him coldly. She said nothing. Her silence was her answer.
The laughter died in his throat. Mo Yuzhen's pupils constricted. The blood drained from his face as shock overtook him in waves. "You can't be married," he whispered in disbelief, shaking his head slowly. "You're lying to me… You're just trying to push me away."
Tang Xiyu sneered faintly. "No," she said flatly. "I wouldn't lie about something like that."
