"Ingrid took what was mine," she said softly. "Look what happened to her. What do you think will happen to Claudia for stepping into what is mine?"
"Aunt Viv," Delilah said, "you forgot something."
Vivienne raised a brow.
"Someone took Sera that night," Delilah pressed on. "Someone knows. Someone saw enough to wait." Her hands trembled, but she didn't stop. "And I'm supposed to marry the Alpha because I was born on the night of the Blood Moon."
"What happens," Delilah whispered, tears finally spilling, "when the wolf isn't controlled? What happens when I fail? What will I do then?"
"For the Shadow Wolf," Vivienne said slowly, folding her hands, "I am still thinking about it." Her eyes lifted. "But everyone who knows about Sera is now dead. I handled it."
She stepped closer, lowering her voice. "I will not let anything stand in our way. Do you hear me?" Her fingers closed around Delilah's wrist. "What happened to me will never happen to you."
