Rhett hadn't slept that well in forever. When he woke up the next morning, it was already past his usual time.
As his eyes opened, they landed directly on a pair of guarded, watchful eyes staring back at him.
For a second, Rhett thought he was still dreaming. He reached out to touch Kelsey's cheek, his voice still rough with sleep. "You're awake?"
His deep voice was laced with a tenderness and indulgence Kelsey had never heard from him before. "What are you looking at me like that for, hmm?"
Kelsey avoided his touch, her face completely blank. "Can I leave now?"
