His expression was completely natural, like nothing was out of the ordinary.
Elise slowly let go of his arm, forcing herself to calm down. "Where were you last night? I couldn't get through to you."
"I was at a business dinner. I didn't check my phone," Rhett replied, his voice calm and smooth, with no intention of explaining further.
Elise's eyes flickered with unease as she followed him into his massive office.
Watching the man sit down calmly behind his desk, she couldn't hold back any longer. "Don't you have anything you want to tell me?"
Rhett opened a file and glanced at it. "Is there something you want to ask?"
Elise took a sharp, deep breath. "Where were you last night?"
"At a business dinner."
"Where was the dinner?"
"At the Loya Garden."
He wasn't even trying to hide it, which left Elise momentarily stunned.
After a painful pause, she asked him, her voice thick with hurt, "Is there... anything else you want to tell me?"
