The moment she finished speaking, she heard the breath on the other end of the line hitch and stop.
Then a man's voice, laced with clear hurt, came through. "Have you really made up your mind?"
Kelsey's reply was barely a whisper. "Yes."
Norman's emotions suddenly flared. "So what if Rhett has money and power? You just met him! Do you even know what kind of man he is? The fact that he already has a wife and child should be reason enough for you to stay a million miles away from him!"
Of course, Kelsey wanted to stay a million miles away from him too. But that wasn't a choice she got to make.
The one thing she could do was make sure Norman didn't get dragged down with her.
"I've already said,my problems are not your business. We don't need to see each other anymore," Kelsey said, forcing her voice to sound cold and detached. "You're just Dexter's teacher. That's the only relationship we have."
After she spoke, she hung up the phone directly.
