The car just kept driving with no clear destination.
"Where are you even taking me?" Kelsey finally asked, her voice flat.
Rhett glanced at the GPS screen. "Where do you want to go?"
"I don't want to go anywhere. I just want to go home."
"You can come back to my place."
Kelsey took a sharp, frustrated breath and fell silent.
Rhett looked over at her,and a faint, almost helpless smile touched his lips. "Are you hungry? Do you want to get something to eat?"
It was around dinnertime, but the thought of food made Kelsey feel sick. "Whatever."
It was the only kind of answer she could give him, passive and uncooperative.
Rhett didn't seem to mind. He pulled up a restaurant on his phone's screen. "This place has good reviews. Do you want to try it?"
Kelsey took one look and knew the average price per person was astronomical. "Forget it. I can't afford it."
