Chapter 124 - Chapter 124: Killing the Body, Crushing the Soul

The crows were shot down one after another—but each time one fell, another took its place, swarming relentlessly toward Shisui.

Shisui countered with countless summoned arrows, firing in rapid succession, yet no matter how many he destroyed, the crows regenerated faster than he could eliminate them. Clearly, Uchiha Izumi held the advantage.

"Izumi, stop! There's something off about Aunt Ashikaga's kidnapping. We Uchiha need unity!"

"Shisui, give it up. Sure, this trap was set by Rokuro… but Fugaku himself isn't clean. Today, he dies. And you—must die too."

Shisui's eyes widened in shock.

"So that's it…! Izumi, doing this will plunge Konoha into chaos! Do you understand the consequences? Stop this now—fight with me to protect the village!"

Shisui's Mangekyō Sharingan spun violently. At the same time, green chakra surged wildly around him.

The monochrome world of Tsukuyomi began to warp—color blooming outward from Shisui's body. Simultaneously, Izumi felt her oldest memories of Rokuro twisting—turning admiration into hostility, even birthing a terrifying impulse: kill him, support Sarutobi Hiruzen.

"Kotoamatsukami."

Sensing the danger, Uchiha Izumi unleashed Dual Tsukuyomi. Her ocular power flared, instantly amplifying the Tsukuyomi realm and wiping away the invasive thoughts. The world reverted to stark black-and-white—except for Shisui's body, still in color, now fully overpowered.

"So this is the 'Kotoamatsukami' Rokuro mentioned? Impressive… If two eyes were equal in power, Tsukuyomi wouldn't match it. But unfortunately—your eyes are incomplete Mangekyō. Mine are Eternal Mangekyō. Shisui… farewell."

Izumi's pupil-light shone like sunlight flooding the realm. Shisui strained with everything he had, his eyes bleeding two thin lines of red.

First his limbs turned monochrome, then his torso, and finally his head.

When Shisui's entire body faded into black-and-white, the duel was decided.

Three days and nights passed inside the Tsukuyomi realm.

Yet outside, only a single second had gone by.

All the watching Uchiha saw only Izumi and Shisui lock eyes—then Shisui screamed, his head lolling sideways as he collapsed unconscious.

The whole process was swift and absurdly simple—like a rigged match.

Rokuro retracted his Susanoo to its first stage. With one giant spectral hand he restrained Fugaku, while he himself vaulted onto Izumi's Susanoo hand, reached down, and plucked out Shisui's eyes.

Shisui, barely conscious, screamed again. Rokuro ignored him and immediately sealed the pair of Mangekyō—containing Kotoamatsukami—into a bottle.

This pair of eyes was one of the most mysterious in the original timeline: so powerful that Shisui broke Kabuto's Edo Tensei control with them, then burned them with Amaterasu to prevent misuse.

Obito schemed endlessly to obtain one, but Danzo destroyed it with Izanagi and the Reaper Death Seal before dying.

So many giants fought over these eyes—their value needed no explanation.

Some fans even believed that if Shisui had survived until the Fourth War, Naruto and Sasuke wouldn't have mattered: Shisui would have simply brainwashed Madara, even Kaguya—perfect ending, roll credits!

Of course, that was nonsense. No matter how incredible Kotoamatsukami was, it was still just a Mangekyō ability. It could dominate anything below the Six Paths tier, sure—but using it against true Six Paths beings was pure delusion.

"Everything beneath Six Paths is an ant"—not a meme, but reality.

All the Uchiha clan members were stunned speechless. Shisui awakening his Mangekyō and summoning Susanoo was shocking enough.

But when Izumi summoned her Susanoo as well, and three Susanoo stood side-by-side—their faces became meme material.

Just when everyone thought a massive Susanoo brawl was about to erupt—Shisui was instantly obliterated by Izumi.

Such an anticlimax left them utterly speechless.

Of course, amateurs watched the spectacle. Experts saw the truth.

Those with true insight—Fugaku, Uchiha Setsuna, and a few others—understood exactly what that single glance between Izumi and Shisui meant.

"Tsukuyomi… No wonder Rokuro brought that girl to the Land of Lightning. So her strength is this terrifying! Truly blessed is the Uchiha—first Rokuro, now another prodigy raised by him."

Setsuna felt both relief and satisfaction; but when he looked at the now-blinded Shisui, hatred contorted his face.

"Shisui must have awakened his Mangekyō long ago, but hid it—fearing that revealing it would give the clan courage to resist the Hokage. Hmph. A loyal dog—just unfortunate that his loyalty lay with the enemy. That makes him not a dog… but a white-eyed wolf."

For Setsuna, Shisui losing his eyes was cathartic. For Fugaku, it was the death knell of his final hope.

"It's over…"

He was still clan head; he understood perfectly—Rokuro and Setsuna had framed him, and they would not show mercy. He would die.

Facing death, Fugaku laughed.

"I, Uchiha Fugaku, have lived my life for this clan. I have never betrayed the Uchiha. Yet this is how I end? Rokuro… you will not meet a good end."

Rokuro sealed Shisui's eyes into a scroll, then turned to look at Fugaku's twisted expression.

"Clan Head Fugaku—you claim you've never wronged the Uchiha? How thick is your skin to say something like that?"

Rokuro stepped onto the high platform, dragging Fugaku up with him. Today, he would not only kill the man—he would destroy his reputation entirely. To kill the body, first crush the heart. Leave no room for redemption.

"Let's start simple. Our relocation to this new district—this happened because of your cowardice. Everyone knows the Uchiha didn't cause the Nine-Tails incident. You knew. Danzo knew. The Hokage knew. Everyone with eyes knew. Yet you didn't resist. You didn't defend the clan. You quietly accepted the blame."

"When you stayed silent—when you allowed the clan to be relocated— you sealed that sin onto all Uchiha forever!"

"And the Lightning–Fire War. Our clan fought fiercely, slew countless enemies, disrupted the Hidden Cloud supply line, shifted the war's balance. People died—your clan died. Then the Hokage ordered a retreat. And you—didn't even resist."

"When you obeyed that order—every ounce of their sacrifice was erased. Do you not understand that?"

Rokuro jabbed him in the forehead with a finger.

"Uchiha Fugaku—you have never once acted like a clan head. You don't understand what it means to represent not yourself, but the entire clan! Every decision you make must be for them. Have you ever done that? No. Cowardly, indecisive—worse, you even betrayed your own clan. And you dare say you've never wronged the Uchiha?"

Rokuro's words ignited the rage of every Uchiha present.

The Uchiha were notoriously volatile—kill-you-over-minor-grudges volatile. After twenty years of being suppressed by the village, resentment had piled high.

In the past, they tolerated it because they lacked power.

Now their clan had two Mangekyō, Danzo was dead, and Rokuro stoked the flames—they no longer needed to hold back.

One after another, they rushed toward Fugaku, shouting:

"Because of you, we've been oppressed—you useless coward!"

"With your 'leadership,' our proud clan became spineless weaklings! You don't deserve the title of clan head!"

"You stepped back again and again! Get out—leave our clan grounds!"

Hearing the shouts, Fugaku's heart turned cold as ash.

Rokuro lowered him and pointed toward his own mother.

"If all your past failures could be blamed on incompetence—then tell me this: how do you justify kidnapping my mother? You knew that after my fight with Danzo, his Root would suffer massive losses—maybe even Danzo himself. You knew he'd retaliate against the Uchiha."

"A true leader would unite the clan—strike first, demand justice. But you? You assumed we'd lose. So you offered my mother as tribute to Danzo, and planned to sacrifice your political opponents. Isn't that right?"

Rokuro's gaze snapped toward the Second Elder—hunched in the crowd, desperately trying to look invisible.

"Let me guess—this wasn't just your idea. The Second Elder must've been involved. His faction always bowed to Danzo. There's no way he didn't jump at the chance to collaborate."

At once, the clan's fury turned toward the Second Elder.

His face blanched. Even his own faction stepped away from him immediately.

"That old bastard definitely helped!"

"He's been sucking up to Danzo for years—just a dog of the Hokage!"

The beatings came immediately. No one helped him—not even his faction.

Killing the body was one thing. Rokuro was killing their hearts.

Fugaku saw everything. He knew he was finished. Everything Rokuro had accused him of—except direct collusion with Danzo—was true.

Even so, back during the Byakugan Retrieval mission, he had quietly sided with Hiruzen, effectively pushing Rokuro toward danger. That alone made the accusation believable enough.

Worse yet—Rokuro possessed the Eternal Mangekyō, a gift only Madara once had. His influence, his power—Fugaku could never match it.

All hope lost, Fugaku drew a kunai. He looked one last time at Mikoto and Sasuke.

"If none of you recognize me as your clan head… then I will repay everything with my life. Just—please don't harm my family."

He flipped the kunai and stabbed himself in the chest.

Hashirama once stabbed himself theatrically to stop Madara. Madara stopped him.

Today, Fugaku used the same gesture.

Nobody stopped him—not even Mikoto.

Shhkk.

The blade pierced between his ribs and into his heart. Fugaku had no First Hokage cells, no Byakugō Seal, not even healing jutsu.

This strike was fatal.

Five seconds later, Uchiha Fugaku exhaled his final breath.

His wife, Mikoto, shut her eyes in agony as tears streamed down her face. Sasuke screamed, trying to rush forward, but Mikoto held him back with all her strength.

In his struggle, Sasuke's eyes turned red— a single tomoe slowly formed.

In the original story, he awakened his Sharingan only after witnessing the massacre within Itachi's Tsukuyomi. Now, with only his father dead, he awakened much earlier—progress, in its own tragic way.

Fugaku's death didn't quell the Uchiha's rage. In the minutes that followed, the four Uchiha jōnin who attempted to kidnap Uchiha Ashikaga, as well as the Second Elder, were beaten to death—brutally, far worse than Fugaku's end.

Having forced Fugaku to his death and taken Shisui's eyes, Rokuro had achieved one minor goal—but he had far more to accomplish in the village.

Uchiha who already shared mutual understanding with Rokuro, left a few people to handle the aftermath, while he himself escorted Rokuro and Izumi—along with the shinobi carrying Danzō's corpse—straight toward the Hokage Building.

Hiruzen Sarutobi had been using the Telescope Technique from the moment Rokuro stormed Fugaku's home. From the capture, to the accusations, to Fugaku's forced suicide—he witnessed everything.

When Rokuro led the Uchiha toward the Hokage Building, Hiruzen finally dispelled the jutsu. Regarding Fugaku's suicide, he merely snorted with disdain.

"Useless trash."

Homura and Koharu had already returned and received news through their own channels—Fugaku Uchiha had been forced to kill himself.

"That Uchiha Rokuro kid is vicious. For a ten-year-old to return and immediately push Fugaku to suicide? Is that even something a child should be capable of?"

Koharu mocked his age, but as a seasoned schemer, she knew perfectly well that after everything that had happened, treating Rokuro as a mere child was suicidal. He was a monster—one who wanted their heads.

"Did you finish wiping out ROOT?"

Hiruzen asked without looking at her.

Homura nodded slightly.

"We've secured all assets and remaining personnel. Aside from certain… unsavory items, everything can be handed to the Uchiha. But, Hiruzen… is that really enough?"

Hiruzen fell silent, and Koharu snapped irritably.

"Not enough?! Those Uchiha are too greedy! Uchiha Rokuro isn't even dead—he's not even injured! What else does he want, our lives?!"

Her shrill voice betrayed her fear. Hiruzen, however, shook his head.

"It's not enough. Homura—notify the head of the Shimura clan. Tell him to prepare to pay up."

Homura's expression stiffened.

"Hiruzen… are you serious? That old man won't agree easily."

"Hmph. Danzō is dead—they have no remaining powerhouses. Do they think they can protect that much wealth? Tell him—if he doesn't want to join Danzō in the grave, he'd better cooperate. Otherwise he'll lose both his people and his money."

Homura sighed and went to deliver the message.

"Koharu," Hiruzen said, turning to her, "summon all clan heads."

She understood instantly.

"Even Hyūga Hiashi?"

"…Yes. This concerns all of Konoha."

By the time Rokuro and the Uchiha arrived at the Hokage Building, every clan head was already present. There was no space inside, so Hiruzen waited outside the building with all of them.

Seeing the high-profile setup, Rokuro understood—Hiruzen had prepared a full-scale political performance.

Rokuro tossed Danzō's severed head before Hiruzen. Several Uchiha dropped the rest of his corpse beside it.

"Hokage-sama, on my mission to retrieve the stolen Byakugan, Danzō led more than a hundred ROOT jōnin to attack me and Izumi. In the middle of the battle, the Fourth Raikage arrived with two hundred Kumogakure jōnin and joined forces with ROOT. I'd like to ask—did you know about this?"

"And one more thing—I just heard this myself. On the border between the Land of Fire and the Land of Hot Water, a sudden attack by Kumogakure forces killed over ten thousand civilians, pillaged property, and burned villages to the ground. And the day before that happened, our border troops were suddenly ordered to retreat two hundred kilometers. How do you explain that?"

Rokuro didn't hold back—he pressed directly.

Hiruzen picked up Danzō's head. After three silent seconds, he hurled it to the ground.

"Criminal! Shimura Danzō is Konoha's greatest sinner!"

"Rokuro, forgive me. I only just learned of this. Danzō concealed everything and colluded with the Fourth Raikage to steal your Mangekyō Sharingan."

"He even forged my orders to withdraw the patrol forces, causing the deaths of our citizens. For his personal ambition, he ignored the lives of our people. This beast… I wish I could cut him into pieces!"

His anger surged so violently his hair bristled like an enraged monkey.

As if worried mere words weren't enough, Hiruzen gestured to Homura, who ordered several ANBU to bring out crates of documents.

"These were seized from ROOT. Inside are records of Danzō's collusion, and even evidence that he sold Konoha's military intelligence—troop numbers, battle formations—during the Thunder–Fire War."

He then looked toward the clan heads of the Ino–Shika–Chō trio.

"And we've confirmed this: to use Kumogakure's Six Paths tool, they needed the opponent's name. That intelligence was provided by Danzō. Meaning… our defeat in the war was entirely because Shimura Danzō betrayed us!"

The three clan heads examined the documents. Uchiha Shun also sent people to inspect them.

Rokuro didn't bother. For a ninja, forging documents was trivial—Transformation Technique could turn you into anyone or anything. Faking letters was child's play.

Instead, he observed the clan heads—especially the Ino–Shika–Chō trio.

Akimichi Chōza seemed furious, which matched his personality—honest and hot-blooded—hating underhanded schemes. But…

"…Why does this fat guy's hatred seem aimed at Hiruzen, not Danzō?"

Chōza kept glaring at Hiruzen. Once, he did it so obviously that Yamanaka Inoichi had to grab his arm.

Of the three, only Nara Shikaku remained unreadable—calm, expressionless, silently examining documents like a cold machine.

"Interesting… the ones who become clan heads are never fools."

Once everyone had seen enough, Hiruzen quickly stepped in before Rokuro could speak and handed him a list.

"Danzō is Konoha's sinner, and most of his crimes were against the Uchiha. So I've decided—his entire estate will compensate your clan. This is the full inventory of ROOT's assets. Additionally, the remaining ROOT personnel and researchers are detained by ANBU. The Uchiha may take control and dispose of them as you wish."

Rokuro skimmed the list—money, lab equipment, and several bases.

Decent—but the most valuable part of ROOT had always been its brainwashed shinobi, nearly all of whom Rokuro had already killed. The survivors were weak and useless.

As for researchers, the real genius had already defected to Otogakure. The rest were nobodies—not worth mentioning. And Hiruzen would never hand over anyone truly valuable anyway.

Rokuro didn't care.

Seeing Rokuro unfazed, unmoved, Hiruzen gritted his teeth and finally stepped onto the path of no return.

"The Shimura clan, though not directly involved, supported Danzō's actions. They must bear joint responsibility. I will summon their clan head immediately!"
