"Good choice Gary! Here is Charmander's Pokeball."
"Alright! Charmander, I choose you!"
"Char!"
"We are going to be partners from now on. Wanna explore the world with me?"
"Char! Char!"
Gary petted Charmander's head and returned her into her Pokeball.
He has been taking care of all the three starter Pokemons that arrived four days ago. Well, he didn't go near Pikachu after he shocked his grandpa once.
So he found the female Charmander to be the most suitable as his starter Pokemon.
Afterall, from the three Kanto starters, Charizard is the only one who has been relevant until the end.
And since his Charmander is female, if she can learn attract, she will become really powerful.
"Herr is your Pokedex, and your Pokeballs. Have a safe journey Gary!"
"Heh. I will come home a Champion."
"Hahaha! Confidence is good!"
Before heading out, he put his pet Magikarp in one of his Pokeball.
"Gary, be careful. After turning into Gyarados, many even attack their trainers."
"That's because they get bullied as Magikarp. I have been treating him quite well.
Nothing will go wrong."
"Well, if you say so."
"Alright, I am heading out!"
"Good luck!"
So, Gary officially started his Pokemon journey.
After falling from the 8th floor in his previous life, he reincarnated into the world of Pokemon.
As Gary Oak.
So being in Pokemon world, he obviously decided to become the best Pokemon trainer and win tournaments.
He is not going to be the 'Catch 'em all' style type of guy, nor is he going to abandon his Pokemons for years like Ash when he goes to another region.
He has already decided on the Pokemons he wants.
Charizard (Fire)
Gyarados (Water)
Jolteon (Electric)
Umbreon (Dark)
Lucario (Fighting/Steel)
The giant Pokepolis trio that are sealed near Pallet Town.
Giant Gengar (Ghost), Giant Alakazam( Psychic) and Giant Jigglypuff (Fairy).
Greninja (Water/Dark). The one who Ash released in the original. Since it will be a long time before Mega Evolution becomes a thing.
And a bunch of others from other types. Not just anything he comes across.
And he wants to catch atleast one Legendary.
And when it comes to Legendary, it's obviously Mewtwo. The most iconic legendary of all.
And well, Rayquaza is too important for the world to become some guy's Pokemon.
So, he must gain strength to infiltrate Team Rocket and get Mewtwo before Geovanni does him so dirty that he gets an identity crisis.
Well, it's fine even if he doesn't catch Mewtwo. He is not too obsessed with him.
Right now, his destination is Luminose City in Kalos. He doesn't know how the timeline works here, since it seems downright impossible for the entirety of Ash's journey to take just a year.
But he is still going to see if he can get the special Froakie which can have the Battle Bond.
The nearest airport is in Viridian City, so he is heading there while searching for any Pokemon he wants to catch for now and train Charmander.
Sadly, throughout the forest, all he saw was groups of Spearows.
Well, he did see some Caterpies as well, but they were in the Spearows' beaks.
He didn't want to useless provoke those rude and angry pricks. And Charmander is less than a month old. He doesn't want her to get badly hurt like Ash's Pikachu.
The few Caterpies he started seeing, he didn't catch them because Spearows might think that he is taking their food.
Thankfully, he reached Viridian City without any incident.
He isn't Ash who always gets in trouble.
Viridian City is the home turf of Team Rocket, with its Gym leader being Giovanni.
That guy really sent Mewtwo in a gym battle against canon Gary!
He took one look at the Gym, and left for the airport.
This Gym requires 7 badges to challenge it anyway.
But as he was about to reach, he saw a man shaking off a Joltik from himself.
"Ah! Get off!"
Joltik is supposed to be from Unova. A Bug/Electric type spider Pokemon. It can drain others' energy.
He wanted to have Scyther or Beedrill as his Bug type Pokemon, but catching Joltik from Unova is not a bad idea!
"Charmander! I chose you!"
"Char!"
"Uncle! Throw the Joltik in air!"
"I am trying for a while now!"
"Just take off your jacket!"
"Good idea!"
Is he an idiot that he didn't do it till now!?
"Charmander, as soon as the Joltik is off from that man and jacket, use Flamethrower!"
The scared guy threw off his jacket, and ran away.
Well... I guess he wouldn't mind if his jacket gets destroyed.
"Use Flamethrower!"
"Char!"
"Jol-tik!"
Joltik used Discharge!
The attacks cancelled each other, but Gary wasn't waiting around.
He has already whispered to her.
"Jump and use Flamethrower again."
As soon as the first round of attacks ended, a second Flamethrower came from above.
Joltik had already seen the attack with his compound eyes, and he used Discharge again!
"Jol-tik!"
The attacks cancelled each other again, but then, a rock hit Joltik.
Gary has thrown a stone!
Joltik is weak against Rock type, so Joltik got weakened.
"Pokeball Go!"
The Pokeball hit a weakend Joltik, he got enveloped in a red light and went inside the Pokeball.
And then, the Pokeball shook once.
The Pokeball shook twice.
The Pokeball's red light on its button stopped, followed by a sound.
"Joltik has been caught!"
"Char! Char!"
Gary had just blinked, but suddenly, he was somewhere else.
He was in a strange room. Sitting on a round table. With seven other equally confused people.
Some of whom he recognised.
