"No, wait, get closer slowly," Kakashi said.
He suspected the Hidden Mist Village Genin and the Third Hokage told him to test him. He wouldn't miss the chance.
They quietly approached the stream and saw the Hidden Mist Village Genin "Kuro," Uchiha Obito, standing there.
Uchiha Obito was facing the stream, not moving.
Kaoru thought Uchiha Obito knew they were there. Uchiha Obito was a slacker as a kid, but he got the Mangekyo Sharingan and was taught by Uchiha Madara. He was stronger than Kakashi.
"Good, stay here. I'll test him," Kakashi said to Kaoru and Pakkun and walked out of the shadows.
"Former teammates are testing each other. Fate is cruel. I wonder if they'll recognize each other," Kaoru thought and activated his Sharingan.
"Battle Mode!"
The real-time data of the two appeared in Kaoru's Sharingan.
Uchiha Obito, LV15, HP 2000, Chakra 1555.
Kakashi Hatake, LV13, HP 1850, Chakra 850.
"Wow, it's shocking!" Kaoru said. Kakashi was two levels lower than Obito and didn't have Kamui, but the HP difference was small. What was with the chakra?
Kakashi, an elite Jōnin, only had 850 chakra. Obito had almost twice as much. Kakashi always ran out of chakra. Did his Sharingan suppress his growth?
Uchiha Obito noticed the movement behind him and turned to look at Kakashi. His face was covered in bandages.
The former teammates met, but they were disguised. One wore an Anbu mask, and the other was covered in bandages.
Everything had changed. There was a gap between them.
"An Anbu ninja and two others in the bushes. They're here about the Forest of Death," Uchiha Obito thought.
Kakashi said, "You're a Hidden Mist Village Genin named 'Kuro,' right?"
"That's right," Uchiha Obito nodded.
"The Leaf Village suspects you're related to the sword that fell from the sky. The Third Hokage ordered your arrest!" Kakashi said.
"Oh?" Uchiha Obito frowned. "Can the Hokage accuse people without proof? You should know..."
"Enough talk!" Kakashi threw three shuriken at Uchiha Obito.
"So unreasonable?" Uchiha Obito snorted and jumped to the river, landing on the water.
"Not done yet!" Kakashi stepped on the water.
"Water Release: Water Severing Wave!"
Kakashi made hand seals and spat a high-pressure water jet. The water rippled under him, showing his chakra control.
"Water Release: Water Formation Wall!"
Obito made hand seals, and water formed a wall in front of him.
"Using Water Style to block Water Style? You're naive!" Kakashi mocked.
The water jet broke through Obito's water wall, even taking some of the water with it, increasing its power.
Uchiha Obito knew his water wall wouldn't stop Kakashi's water jet. He stood still, letting the water pass through him.
"Here it comes, Obito's special move: Intangibility!"
Kaoru thought, watching the fight. He knew Obito's plan. The water wall was to block Kakashi's vision, so Kakashi wouldn't know how he dodged.
"He didn't dodge my Water Style..." Kakashi saw Obito through the water wall, thinking he hit him.
But when the water wall disappeared, Uchiha Obito was unharmed.
"Are all Leaf Village ninjas as unreasonable as you?" Uchiha Obito asked coldly.
"He's fine..." Kakashi was confused. Did he dodge? Or wasn't his jutsu strong enough?
"I'll try again and find out why he wasn't hurt!" Kakashi took out three kunai.
"Go!" Kakashi threw the kunai. They went in different directions. Only the first one was aimed at Uchiha Obito.
"Again?" Uchiha Obito dodged the first kunai. The second kunai came at him.
"He predicted where I would move," Uchiha Obito thought and dodged again. The third kunai attacked where he was standing.
"Now! Water Style: Swift Water Movement!" Kakashi made hand seals, used chakra on his feet, and disappeared!
"What skillful shurikenjutsu," Uchiha Obito thought, impressed by Kakashi's ninjutsu. He leaned back and kicked the last kunai away.
"You're finished!" Kakashi appeared behind Obito, holding a kunai, stabbing at his head.
"Use that move again!" Kakashi thought, the kunai close to Obito's head.
Time seemed to stop.
"You win," Uchiha Obito said, smiling. He knew the Anbu ninja was testing him and didn't use Intangibility.
Kakashi stopped the kunai. He was testing the Hidden Mist Village Genin, not killing him.
Kakashi knew the Hidden Mist Village ninja's strength.
"Why didn't you dodge?" Kakashi asked.
"I couldn't," Uchiha Obito smiled. "You forced me into a corner."
"Hmph," Kakashi snorted and put away his kunai. He didn't believe the Hidden Mist Village Genin.
"Come out," Kakashi said to Kaoru and Pakkun.
Kaoru and Pakkun came out of the bushes.
