"Exactly. Back then, Gran was just as clueless and innocent!"
Beerus clenched his fists, his eyes burning with a rare, fiery intensity.
If this were the Beerus of the past, he would never have shown such an expression — but ever since meeting Gran, something in him had changed.
What if this little brat turns out to be just as terrifyingly gifted as Gran?
At this moment, the look in Beerus's eyes was eerily similar to Champa's expression the day he first saw Gran… as if he were about to snatch the boy away in a sack and run.
"It's a pure, childlike heart."
Whis tightened his grip around his staff ever so slightly, trying his best to sound calm:
"Just like Gran back then — he learned martial arts with unbelievable ease, and even our Angel techniques, such as Ultra Instinct, came naturally to him."
"Of course, I'm not saying everyone can reach Gran's monstrous level."
"I firmly believe no one else in this world could ever reach what Gran achieved, but…"
"What I am saying is: those who possess this kind of pure heart tend to have exceptionally high martial aptitude."
As he finished speaking, Whis turned his gaze toward Gran.
Gran was no longer wearing his usual easygoing smile — his expression had turned unnervingly calm.
As expected of Whis… his ability to read people is terrifying.
"What are we waiting for!!!"
No one knew where Beerus pulled it from, but he suddenly held up a large sack, looking exactly like a predatory old lady from a fairy tale. He looked moments away from kidnapping little Goku.
Bulma was startled. From the words of these two gods, she could tell Goku was extremely talented…
But wasn't this overreacting just a little?!
"Stop, stop, stop!"
Gran instantly appeared in front of young Goku, exasperated.
"Lord Beerus, what exactly are you trying to do?"
"What do you think? I'm taking him back to train!"
"And you plan to train him? Or Whis?"
"Of course I— I mean you— I mean…"
Beerus's voice broke as he muttered sheepishly, "Whis will train him…"
The corner of Whis's mouth twitched.
So that's how it is… using me like free labor again.
Gran rubbed his forehead. He knew it.
"Kakarot, what are you planning to do next?"
Ignoring Beerus, Gran crouched down and placed a hand on the little Saiyan's shoulder.
Ka…ka…rot? Is he talking to me?
Young Goku blinked in confusion, but still answered honestly:
"I promised Grandpa Turtle Hermit that after Bulma and I gather the seven Dragon Balls, I'll go look for him to start training~"
As expected.
Following the original timeline, Goku would head to Master Roshi soon… then he would meet Krillin and Launch.
Gran picked Goku up and looked toward Beerus.
"He's better off training here on Earth."
As he spoke, Gran glanced upward — toward the Heavenly Realm.
Noticing his gaze, Beerus and Whis also lifted their heads.
Right… there was another angel here — that dark-skinned attendant of Korin's.
Beerus suddenly remembered what Whis once said: as long as Earth had the Korin Tower and that "black-charcoal angel," it would remain a holy ground of martial arts.
Whis had also said Earth's martial foundation was growing deeper by the year — and one day, a truly remarkable individual would emerge.
BOOM
Beerus's heart trembled violently.
So… the one Whis predicted back then… was this child?!
Whis also remembered his old prophecy.
The prediction is about to come true. Interesting…
"This big brother… once I help Bulma collect the Dragon Balls, I'm going to find Grandpa Turtle Hermit to train!"
Little Goku looked up at Gran, who was still holding him.
"Then go."
Gran gently placed him back on the ground, ruffled his hair, and smiled.
"Train hard. The future of Universe Seven needs you."
"Mhm~!"
Goku didn't understand a word, but he nodded enthusiastically anyway.
"Kinto'un!"
With a shout, the little Saiyan summoned the yellow cloud. It zoomed toward him from the horizon. Goku hopped on, ready to leave.
Gran shouted:
"Kakarot! My name is Gran!"
"Big Brother Gran! My name is Son Goku!"
Goku turned and gave a silly grin, waving.
"Bye, Bulma! Bye everybody!"
A young Saiyan, Son Goku, rose into the sky on the Flying Nimbus.
A grown Saiyan, Gran, stood below, watching from Earth's busy food street.
The scene felt frozen in time.
You fool…
Gran sighed as he watched the tiny silhouette disappear.
Goku would go on to meet the "sacrifice king" Krillin, meet his wife Chi-Chi, and eventually be babysat by Piccolo…
So of course Gran couldn't take him away.
"Sigh…"
Beerus let out an exaggerated groan, his gaze mixed with frustration and longing.
"Can't you two help me train him properly?" Beerus snapped.
If he had another genius disciple, Champa would die of jealousy!
"And what about you, Lord Beerus?" Whis asked with a stiff smile.
"Beerus? What can he do besides sleep?" Gran said with a friendly smile — though anyone could hear the clear mockery beneath it.
"You two…"
Just imagining losing the chance to brag to Champa made Beerus grind his teeth.
He wanted to beat them both up.
He couldn't beat Whis…
So he'd beat Gran instead!
But noticing Beerus's expression turning dangerous, Gran took two steps back.
"Lord Beerus, must you really do this?"
"Aren't you both Saiyans? Shouldn't you want to guide the kid?"
"I'm not his babysitter. Why should I? Besides, Earth is where he's meant to be."
"...But then he won't be my disciple!"
"But he'll still be from Universe Seven, won't he?"
As soon as Gran said that
"THAT'S RIGHT!"
Beerus's eyes lit up.
This was his Universe Seven!
Even if Goku stayed on Earth, Beerus could still brag to Champa!
"Oh hohoho~"
Beerus suddenly mimicked Whis's laugh in excitement.
Whis: "..."
Gran: "..."
Bulma: "..."
Is this cat-god actually stupid?
After calming Beerus, Gran noticed the sky was growing dark.
"Lord Beerus, are we returning to the Realm of Destruction now, or…?"
"Why go back to that cold, boring place? Earth has tons of good food. Earth is my home now!"
Beerus looked down at Bulma, chin raised.
"You foolish mortal. Hurry and take us to rest!"
This girl seemed useful. She might even know more good restaurants. He needed her to help him eat his way across the planet.
"Yes, sir!"
Bulma sighed inwardly but didn't dare complain. She started leading the trio toward Capsule Corporation.
Gran and Whis exchanged a glance and shook their heads.
They knew this would happen.
The three of them walked slowly down the street behind Bulma.
They weren't in a hurry — a good walk after a full meal helped digestion.
Staying on Earth for a while didn't bother Gran.
He'd just had a major breakthrough yesterday. It was important to balance work and rest.
And besides, he could train on Earth.
Moonlight spilled over them, stretching their shadows long across the pavement.
Meanwhile, inside a palace at the absolute summit of the Multiverse…
"Grand Minister, has that boy broken through to the Divine Dimension?"
"Yes."
"Then let us convene a meeting of the Gods of Destruction."
"As you command, Lord Zeno."
