Chapter 101 - Chapter 101: Breaking the Rules

West City — the Brief family estate.

Early morning.

Gran awoke from meditation and made his way toward the dining hall.

This was his fifth day on Earth.

Even now…

Every time he stepped outside and looked at Bulma's home, he couldn't help sighing — it was ridiculously huge!

Gyms, swimming pools, museums, aquariums, amusement parks…

Every kind of recreational facility imaginable existed here.

And this was only the residential area. The technological research sector wasn't even included.

If you counted everything, an ordinary person would probably need a whole day of walking just to get from one end to the other.

Truly the family of Earth's richest!

"Good morning, Candidate God of Destruction."

A bright, pleasant voice sounded from behind.

Gran turned around and nodded. "Good morning, Miss Bulma."

Bulma jogged up to him with a grin. "Candidate God of Destruction, are you heading to the dining hall?"

"Yes. Is something wrong?"

"You can fly, right? Take me with you. Walking there is exhausting — this house is way too big!"

"Don't you have a hover-car?"

"I don't want to ride it. Flying is more fun!"

Gran: "..."

The next moment

Bulma was dangling like a little chick in his grasp as the two of them lifted into the sky, gliding toward the estate's dining hall.

He wasn't flying fast. A gentle breeze brushed past Bulma's ears.

Even though being carried like a chick wasn't exactly flattering…

…this sensation of freely soaring through the air was amazing!

She raised her head and Granced at the Candidate God of Destruction.

At first, she had doubted these three divine beings.

But after spending five days with them…

She finally understood why they called themselves gods.

In the days since returning home, Gran fought Beerus every day.

Those battles were truly world-shaking — once, they even blew up the entire North Galaxy!!!

And that wasn't even the craziest part.

The craziest was the gentle, refined Whis.

He merely waved his staff lightly, and the destroyed North Galaxy returned to its original state.

Clearly, Whis had used time-reversal.

"Miss Bulma, where are Lord Beerus and Whis? I haven't seen them."

"Ah?"

Bulma blinked, then giggled.

"I originally wanted to take them out for more food. But Lord Beerus said they wanted to explore themselves — apparently the anticipation makes it taste better."

"Oh? Aren't you afraid someone might provoke Lord Beerus? If he gets angry, the consequences would be… severe."

Gran landed with Bulma still in hand and began walking toward the dining hall.

"It should be fine… right?"

Bulma followed, looking uneasy. "Lord Beerus promised me — no matter how angry he gets, he won't blow up Earth."

Just as she finished speaking

BOOOOM!!!

A terrifying explosion erupted from the far west of the estate.

Bulma: "..."

"At least he didn't blow up Earth."

Gran chuckled as he entered the dining hall and instructed the servants to prepare four breakfasts.

Bulma sat down as well. "Huh? It's just the two of us. Why order four?"

"I'm ordering for Lord Beerus and Whis."

Bulma blinked in confusion.

The next second

A furious voice came from outside the hall.

"That damned mortal! His food tasted horrible, and he dared to scam me! Me is one thing — but he even dared to cheat Bulma's money!"

"Lord Beerus, please calm down!"

"Calm down my ass! If this planet didn't have so many delicious foods, I'd have destroyed him already!"

Beerus marched into the dining hall, with Whis following behind.

Whis exchanged a Grance with Gran, and both men smiled.

Beerus really was a big child.

"Lord Beerus, please calm down. I had a breakfast prepared for you." Gran pointed to a bowl of seafood ramen on the table.

Hand-pulled noodles, topped with thick layers of seafood — prawns, clams, baby octopus…

A few vegetables for color — truly appetite-awakening.

"More noodles?"

Beerus looked like he wanted to vomit.

Whis wasn't as dramatic. He took a sip of the broth, then his eyes sparkled.

"Lord Beerus, this one is different. It's very fragrant!"

"Really?!"

Beerus clearly didn't believe him. He Granced at Gran.

Gran smiled. "This aroma is natural — not from additives. You should try it."

Beerus frowned and cautiously took a sip.

His eyes instantly widened.

"It is different!!"

He grabbed the bowl and slurped away at top speed.

His anger was already mostly gone.

Gran gave Bulma a look that said:

See? I calmed Lord Beerus down. Your planet is safe again.

"..."

Both destruction gods were unbelievably childish. Bulma rolled her eyes.

After a while

Beerus put down his utensils and leaned back in his chair. "So, Gran — what's the plan for today? Want me to spar with you again?"

Gran had only recently broken through, so it was too early for his next major training phase.

But sparring with Beerus daily helped him grow familiar with divine energy.

"Not today."

Gran shook his head.

Beerus and Whis exchanged a puzzled Grance.

"Lord Beerus, tell me… what exactly is 'Destruction'?"

"You want to learn the Rules of Destruction already?"

Beerus's eyes widened.

Not that he was unwilling.

As a Candidate God of Destruction, Gran should indeed learn the Rules of Destruction.

Only then would he be truly qualified.

But

Gran had only recently broken through. It was too early for him to start training this level of technique.

"No, no, I just want to understand it first," Gran said helplessly.

"That's fine then."

Beerus let out a breath and Granced at Whis.

Whis set down his utensils, lifted a napkin, and elegantly dabbed the corner of his mouth.

"To learn Destruction, your mindset must be free of rage or agitation — and certainly not driven by strong emotions like revenge. You must be empty-minded, utterly focused."

"What does that mean?" Gran asked, confused.

Bulma, on the side, understood even less.

Beerus shot Whis a glare. "Why make it sound so complicated?"

He looked back at Gran.

"Just reach the first level of selflessness in mental cultivation. You've already surpassed that."

"As for the second point — Destruction isn't simply crushing something with your energy. It's turning something from one into zero…"

Beerus hadn't finished speaking

Suddenly, Whis's staff burst into a blinding flash of light!

Whis instantly shot up from his seat.

Beerus did as well — he recognized this glow.

Back when the Omni-King summoned all Gods of Destruction for a hide-and-seek game, Whis's staff emitted the same light!
