The figure hiding behind the steel wall had green skin and two antenna protruding from his head.
It was Piccolo.
After the Namek Saga ended, he and Goku's group had accidentally ended up on Planet Yardrat. During more than a year of training there, he had successfully learned Instant Transmission.
However, after mastering the technique, he did not return to Earth with Goku and the others.
Instead, he parted ways with them.
According to the Grand Elder, only by assimilating the other Super Namekian could he make up for the flaws in his being.
And so, he set out to find the one the Grand Elder had mentioned—
Slug.
Today, he had finally found him.
But to his surprise, Slug was already locked in battle with someone else.
"Have I been discovered?"
Feeling Merus's gaze sweep over him, Piccolo immediately pulled his head back behind the steel wall. Cold sweat covered his forehead.
He didn't know who Merus was.
Nor could he sense any aura from him.
The feeling reminded him of facing a god.
Yet unlike gods, Merus didn't possess that overwhelming divine pressure.
Which made things even stranger.
Could he be some hidden martial arts master wandering the universe?
Piccolo's eyes flickered as he analyzed the situation.
At the moment, that was the only explanation he could think of.
"Don't rush. Let them fight."
"Maybe I'll be able to reap the benefits when both sides are exhausted."
Determination once again filled Piccolo's eyes.
Before coming to find Slug, he had been confident that he could assimilate him.
But the moment he saw Slug, that confidence vanished.
The aura of the other Super Namekian had shocked him.
He had never imagined another Super Namekian could become so powerful.
Piccolo felt that if Slug weren't weakened by old age, he might even rival a Super Saiyan.
A monster like that was far beyond his ability to handle.
Which meant he had no chance of assimilating Slug through force.
Fortunately...
A powerful opponent had appeared today.
If both sides wounded each other, perhaps he could swoop in and claim the victory.
Suppressing the excitement in his heart, Piccolo patiently waited for the perfect opportunity.
Meanwhile...
"Interesting."
Merus had noticed Piccolo's arrival long ago.
In fact, he had seen Piccolo before.
Back when Gran had gone to Namek to watch the spectacle unfold, Merus had been observing the event through a projection.
He knew very well that Piccolo and Slug were not allies.
"I'll see what you're planning later."
Merus had no intention of dragging Piccolo out just yet.
Instead, he continued advancing toward Slug.
"Slug! Following judgment from Galactic Patrol Headquarters, the crimes you've committed throughout the universe have earned you a sentence of life imprisonment."
"Surrender peacefully!"
Whoosh!
Merus streaked across the starship like a bolt of lightning.
Slug continuously hurled energy blasts at him.
Yet every attack missed.
"Damn it!"
"How is this Galactic Patrolman different from all the others?!"
Slug's scalp tingled with alarm.
Normally, Galactic Patrol officers were no different from ants.
Whenever they encountered him, they would flee as far as possible.
But this one seemed completely broken.
His reactions were impossibly fast.
Nothing could hit him.
And most outrageous of all—
He dared fight while carrying nothing more than a tiny handgun!
It was absurd.
"Capture me?"
"We'll see if you have the ability!"
Wrapped in a dark-purple cloak, Slug let out a furious roar.
Bang!
The cloak exploded apart.
His old, withered body was exposed to the air.
With a powerful kick, Slug launched himself like a cannonball toward Merus.
One hundred meters.
Fifty meters.
Ten meters.
Five meters.
One meter.
Pouring all thirty million points of battle power into his fist, Slug unleashed a devastating punch at Merus.
However...
Bam!
Merus somehow produced a small white staff from nowhere.
With a single hand, he casually blocked Slug's fist in front of his chest.
"What?!"
Slug's pupils contracted violently.
"I may be old, but even Frieza wouldn't be able to take that punch so effortlessly!"
"You're definitely not an ordinary Galactic Patrolman!"
"Who exactly are you?!"
Merus showed no reaction.
Holding the staff in one hand to block Slug's attack, he calmly drew his handgun with the other.
Then he aimed it directly at Slug.
"..."
Seeing the gun pointed at him, Slug's teeth ground together.
"You're fighting me with this lousy little handgun?"
"Are you trying to humiliate me?!"
Enraged, Slug pulled back his fist and struck again.
BOOM!!
The force of the attack shattered part of the starship below.
Yet the punch was blocked once more.
"T-This... impossible!"
"I refuse to believe it!"
Slug completely lost his composure.
Like a madman, he unleashed a relentless barrage of attacks.
Merus's movements were even more terrifying.
He was clearly dodging, yet it looked as though he had never moved at all.
Countless energy blasts passed straight through where he stood.
The sight left the distant Piccolo completely dumbfounded.
Was this even humanly possible?
"Enjoy the rest of your life behind bars."
Merus had kept his handgun trained on Slug the entire time.
Without the slightest hesitation, he pulled the trigger.
Bang!
A silver bullet flashed through the air and instantly struck Slug between the eyebrows.
"N-No—"
Slug didn't even finish his cry.
His consciousness vanished instantly, and he collapsed onto the starship.
On the other side, Piccolo had witnessed everything.
And he was utterly stunned by Merus's strength.
Without releasing a single trace of ki, Merus had effortlessly blocked all of Slug's attacks using nothing but a small white staff.
But what shocked him even more was the final blow.
Merus had defeated Slug with a simple handgun.
"A handgun...?"
"Could that weapon contain some terrifying power?"
Piccolo muttered to himself.
Suddenly...
A voice sounded beside his ear.
"No. It's just an ordinary handgun."
Piccolo's scalp instantly went numb.
He spun around in alarm.
"Who's there?!"
At some point, another figure had appeared beside him.
He wore clothing with an ancient style.
His features were handsome and refined.
A faint yet unmistakable aura of authority surrounded him.
"Lord Gran!"
Piccolo exclaimed in surprise.
Gran nodded slightly before continuing:
"The reason he could defeat Slug so effortlessly is because he saw through every one of Slug's weaknesses."
"To him, Slug was nothing more than a fish laid out on a chopping board, waiting to be cut apart."
"So even an ordinary handgun could become a deadly threat in his hands."
