Chapter 5 - Chapter 5 : Acquiring the Kotoamatsukami ( Re Write)

"Shisui," Arata said quietly, his gaze unwavering,

"who do you intend to use this ocular power on? Tell me. I need to know whether your choice makes sense."

Shisui scratched the back of his head, looking almost embarrassed.

"I… I was planning to use Kotoamatsukami on Danzo Shimura and our clan head," he admitted.

"If I succeed, it should ease tensions, reduce conflict, and prevent unnecessary bloodshed."

Arata groaned, pressing a hand to his forehead in frustration.

"You're missing the real problem," he said bluntly.

"Danzo may look like the clan's greatest enemy, but the true authority deciding the Uchiha's fate lies with the Third Hokage."

"As for the clan head," Arata continued,

"he isn't the one driving the conflict either. His role has always been mediation—trying to smooth tensions between the clan and the village."

"The real agitators are the elders," he said coldly.

"They're the ones constantly fanning the flames of discord. Shisui… you've chosen the wrong targets."

Despite his extraordinary combat instincts, Shisui was surprisingly naïve when it came to political maneuvering.

Hearing Arata's words, he finally realized his own shortsightedness and asked hesitantly,

"So… the real targets of my Kotoamatsukami should be the Third Hokage and the elders?"

Arata shook his head.

"That alone won't work. Danzo is tightly bound to the Third Hokage. If you alter the Hokage's will but leave Danzo untouched, it won't take long for him to notice."

"And once that happens," Arata said grimly,

"we'll have no way out. Either you betray the clan—or the clan gets wiped out."

"To make this succeed," he concluded,

"you'd need to influence three minds at the same time."

Shisui clenched his fists in frustration and hurled a small stone into the river.

"Is there… no other way?"

Seeing Shisui's dejected expression, Arata hesitated. Then, after a moment of careful thought, he spoke.

"You're hoping I have a hidden plan, aren't you?" he said quietly.

"…I do."

"My Sharingan—Copying Eye—has another ability," Arata continued.

"It can replicate the powers of a Mangekyō Sharingan."

"I didn't mention it earlier because I didn't want you to think I was coveting your eyes."

Though guilt tugged at him for deceiving his honest friend, Arata knew he had no other choice.

For now, Shisui's Mangekyō was the easiest to replicate—and only by copying it could Arata's own eyes evolve fast enough.

More importantly, Arata genuinely wanted to help Shisui.

Without awakening the Mangekyō, he would be nothing more than a high-level pawn—

far from strong enough to save Shisui or change the Uchiha clan's doomed fate.

Shisui's initial shock quickly turned into delight.

"Really?" he exclaimed. "Then I'm glad to help! I'll gladly lend my strength for the survival of our clan!"

Though Shisui loved the village deeply, his clan came first. Even in death, he wished to protect both the Uchiha and Konoha.

The Uchiha bloodline was a peculiar one.

Those who sought power often failed to attain it.

Those who loved deeply—and then lost everything—were the ones who awakened strength beyond imagination.

That was why the Second Hokage had labeled the Uchiha a dangerous lineage—

most Mangekyō wielders were born from profound loss, their hearts scarred by grief.

Seeing Shisui agree so readily, Arata couldn't help but ask,

"Shisui… you don't suspect that I might be deceiving you?"

"How could I?" Shisui replied instantly, his smile bright and sincere.

"You're my closest friend—the one I'd trust with my life."

Arata's heart tightened at those words.

Don't worry, Shisui, he vowed silently.

You are my friend. I will save you—and our clan.

"Then let's begin," Arata said firmly.

"Activate your Mangekyō Sharingan. I need to copy your power. It'll be quick—and it won't harm you."

Shisui nodded and focused his chakra into his eyes.

The tomoe of his Mangekyō began spinning faster and faster, forming an intricate shuriken-like pattern.

Until now, Arata had only seen the Mangekyō Sharingan in anime. Witnessing it in reality was something else entirely—mysterious, mesmerizing, and overwhelmingly alive.

As Shisui's Mangekyō shimmered, Arata activated his own Sharingan, synchronizing it with Shisui's gaze.

Arata felt his eye spinning faster and faster, devouring chakra and mental energy at a terrifying rate.

Heat surged through his vision, as though his eye itself were about to melt.

Finally—after nearly exhausting all of his chakra and willpower—the rotation slowed.

The tomoe shifted, rearranging themselves.

Slowly… they formed a pattern identical to Shisui's Mangekyō.

Uchiha Arata's Mangekyō Sharingan—

was complete.
