Chapter 96 - Chapter 95 : Kakashi's Choice·

I knew you'd make that choice," he said, a hint of warmth in his tone. "And honestly, it isn't absolute.

This eye isn't a curse—it's a burden you can overcome.

As long as you stop wasting your potential and stand tall again, you can still surpass it."

Then Arata's face turned solemn once more.

"In that case, let me tell you the greatest secret of this eye.

If you can grasp it, you may yet find a path that's truly your own...and regain your strength."

Kakashi's expression hardened; he could feel the weight of Arata's words.

Arata took a slow breath and opened his own eyes.....the Mangekyō Sharingan, swirling with otherworldly brilliance.

He didn't use any jutsu; the gaze alone was enough to make the air tremble.

Kakashi flinched instinctively. The last time he had faced that eye, Arata's genjutsu had overwhelmed him in an instant.

His body tensed, and he turned his head sharply, avoiding eye contact as he raised a kunai in guarded reflex.

Seeing Kakashi's reaction, Arata couldn't help but chuckle softly. His voice turned calm and reassuring.

"Relax, Kakashi-senpai. If I meant you harm, you wouldn't still be standing here."

Kakashi knew he was right. And yet, the memory of being rendered helpless still stung.

He couldn't bear the feeling of being powerless before Arata's eyes.

Taking a slow breath, Kakashi lifted his forehead protector, revealing his own scarlet Sharingan.

He turned his head back toward Arata....but still avoided direct eye contact, fixing his gaze instead on Arata's feet.

Only then did he speak.

"Uchiha Arata, I know you're a genius of your clan.

You're younger than me, yet you've already awakened the Mangekyō Sharingan.

Even in Konoha, your strength ranks among the top.

I'm no match for you...but still, you shouldn't open those eyes without warning. It makes it hard not to question your intent."

Arata looked at Kakashi's wary posture and smiled faintly.

"So, you're that cautious of my Mangekyō Sharingan? Tell me then, Kakashi-senpai...how much do you actually know about it?"

Kakashi's gaze remained low, still fixed on the ground.

His shoulders eased slightly, though his wariness didn't fade.

"Not much before," he admitted. "I only knew the Sharingan evolved from one tomoe to three.

But after you used Susanoo outside the village.....that strike that obliterated Danzō and his men....Lord Third told me the Uchiha possess a higher form of Sharingan called the Mangekyō.

It's incredibly rare, even among your people. The Susanoo you used that day... it was a manifestation of that power."

Arata nodded slowly, impressed. He hadn't expected Kakashi to know this much already.

What he didn't realize was that the information came from the Second Hokage's notes, passed down to Hiruzen Sarutobi.

Since the Third had personally assigned Kakashi to work with Arata, it was only natural he'd brief him on what to expect.

"You know," Arata said, admiration flickering in his eyes, "you might understand the Sharingan better than most of my own clan.

Obito's eye hasn't gone to waste in your hands."

He paused, then smiled faintly.

"Now, do you know why I opened my Mangekyō just now?"

Kakashi blinked, puzzled. "I'm not sure," he admitted honestly.

"The Mangekyō is said to consume immense chakra when activated.

Since you don't intend to fight me, I can't imagine why you'd use it."

Even with his sharp mind, Kakashi couldn't have guessed the truth.....

That the Sharingan he carried wasn't an ordinary three-tomoe eye, but a Mangekyō Sharingan of his own.

A treasure so rare that even among the Uchiha, it was considered a once-in-a-generation gift.

Uchiha Arata watched the confusion flickering across Kakashi's face and decided not to keep him in the dark any longer.

His tone was steady, his words sharp as blades.

"Kakashi-senpai, after examining your eye, I've confirmed something remarkable.

The Sharingan you possess isn't an ordinary three-tomoe eye. It's the same as mine—a Mangekyō Sharingan.

However, because you lack Uchiha blood and haven't truly synchronized with it, its true power and innate ability have remained dormant."

Kakashi instinctively raised a hand to his left eye, his expression clouded with disbelief.

He had never imagined that the Sharingan Obito entrusted to him...the one that had accompanied him through countless battles....was actually a Mangekyō.

Part of him wanted to doubt Arata's words. Could this be a mistake? Or worse....a lie meant to deceive him? But what purpose would Arata have for that?

After all, Arata himself was a prodigy of the Uchiha clan, already awakened to the Mangekyō, and now serving as the clan's vice leader.

In both strength and authority, he was far beyond Kakashi's reach. There was no reason for deceit.

Sensing Kakashi's hesitation, Arata's gaze hardened, and he commanded firmly, "Kakashi, look at me. I'll use my Mangekyō to guide yours.

Once you see its true form, you'll understand everything."

Kakashi hesitated for only a moment before nodding. He had to know the truth.
