Chapter 24 - Wayne, The Freelance Reporter

"Huh, didn't they say Bullet would only reveal the pluton blueprints if no one stopped him? How come..."

Wayne closed the newspaper and shook his head. Sensational headlines, out-of-context quotes, fanning the flames...Morgans, that old bird, played it to perfection.

It seemed that no matter where, journalism could always show its captivating moments.

Today it was Morgans, but perhaps tomorrow it would be himself.

Because just now, Wayne had become an external reporter for the World Economic Journal, and in addition, he had received a 1 million Berries prize for his tip-off.

Wayne expressed great satisfaction with this and gladly accepted the World Economic Journal's invitation to become an external reporter.

In the world of One Piece, reporters could be said to be the most mysterious profession; they came and went without a trace, and no matter where pirates committed crimes, they could always capture photos at the first opportunity.

Now, Wayne also had the good fortune to become a member of the press, and his first mission was... to go to Enies Lobby and take as many valuable photos as possible while ensuring his own safety.

However, Wayne was not in a hurry.

Bullet himself had said that he would go to Enies Lobby in five days, and Wayne wasn't idle during these five days.

Wayne registered a company named "Golden Media Studio," spending nearly 100 million Berries to order the most top-tier full set of studio equipment, including a large number of printing presses.

Although the studio was currently just a one-man show, its hardware was armed to the teeth.

The purpose of doing this was also very simple: to make it easier for him to sign models and publish magazines, thereby fulfilling his unfulfilled dream from Earth.

After all, Luffy's birth was still several years away, so he had to do something to pass the time and, incidentally, consume his overly abundant energy...

Ahem! It was to pursue his artistic dreams!

In short, after initially setting up his studio, Wayne took his portable mansion and photography studio to the clouds above Enies Lobby, waiting for the show to begin.

Enies Lobby was a rather peculiar place; the main body of the island was built above a circular abyss, surrounded by a ring of iron fences. The entire island could be divided into four parts: the Front Island, the Main Island, the Tower of Justice, and the Bridge of Hesitation.

Additionally, the Gates of Justice were located behind Enies Lobby. Once the Gates of Justice opened, one could pass through the currents controlled by the World Government to reach Marineford and the deep-sea prison Impel Down, and vice versa.

To counter Bullet's threat, the Navy still mobilized all its forces.

A large number of Marine warships had surrounded Enies Lobby, but they maintained a certain distance from the island, seemingly afraid that Bullet would use his abilities to destroy the warships.

Dozens of huge Marine warships surrounded Enies Lobby, but they all tacitly maintained a distance from the island.

Clearly, the Marine high command had some understanding of Bullet's Devil Fruit ability; being too close could very likely make them expendable material for him to strengthen himself.

The Marine lineup for this Buster Call was very complete; there were many that Wayne recognized.

Sakazuki stood at the bow of a warship, arms crossed, his face grim.

Kuzan leaned against the railing of another warship, wearing his characteristic eye mask, seemingly dozing off but actually sleeping. (T/N: O'Hara hasn't happened yet so Kuzan should still be pretty passionate at this point)

Borsalino sat on a deck chair with his legs crossed, trimming his nails with nail clippers.

Marine Hero Garp himself was sprawled out on a chair, clutching a large bag of senbei, chewing loudly.

Admiral Sengoku: Dressed in a crisp black suit, he held binoculars, constantly scanning the distant horizon, his brow furrowed.

Further out on the sea, dozens of unidentified ships floated indistinctly. They flew no flags, but the people on board didn't look like good guys.

They dared not approach the Marine fleet, yet they didn't want to miss the great battle and the potentially revealed pluton blueprint.

The entire Enies Lobby sea area was like a giant powder keg; everyone was waiting for the fuse that would ignite everything—Douglas Bullet.

However, no one knew that the instigator was quietly staying in the clouds above, waiting for the show to begin.

"It's been three days... Bullet still hasn't appeared?"

"Hmph, I think he's scared!" A Marine soldier lowered his voice, "Look at this lineup! Admirals in command! The Hero holding the line! Three monstrous Vice Admirals gathered! Who wouldn't think twice?"

"Exactly! If it were me, I would have already made a run for it! Who would be foolish enough to jump into a trap?"

"Wait! Look over there! The sea!"

Suddenly, the calm distant sea arched upwards, and the next second!

A black submarine tore through the surface of the sea and shot into the sky, carrying a spray of water like a cannonball, it leaped over the towering iron fence surrounding Enies Lobby.

Bang!!!

The submarine crashed like a meteor into the center of the Front Island.

"Attention everyone, the target has appeared!"

Sengoku's voice echoed through the entire fleet via a Den Den Mushi. He didn't hesitate at all, decisively giving the order: "All cannons! Aim at the Front Island! Indiscriminate saturation strike!"

Just as the Marines adjusted their cannons, preparing to fire, Bullet's figure flashed, and the next second he appeared directly above a Marine warship.

Bullet raised his fist, wrapped in Armament Haki, and slammed it fiercely onto the warship's deck.

"Sink for me!"

Boom!!!!

Under Bullet's earth-shattering punch, that steel warship, like a fragile toy, was split in half from the middle, and the shockwave spread, completely tearing the warship into pieces.

Bullet leaped up and landed on top of the main gate of the Front Island. His gaze swept over the battle-ready Marine fleet, and a ferocious grin spread across his lips. His voice echoed across the entire sea:

"Marines!"

"I hope you can entertain me!"

"Otherwise..." He slowly raised his palm and clenched it tightly, "That pluton blueprint will scatter across the entire Grand Line like snowflakes tomorrow!"

"Arrogant scoundrel!" Sengoku was furious. He suddenly waved his hand and shouted sharply: "Sakazuki! Kuzan! Borsalino! Take him down!"

As soon as his voice fell, three figures shot out from their respective warships like arrows released from a bow.

Sakazuki's right arm transformed into a giant fist of boiling magma, and he growled in a low voice: "Hellhound!"

Kuzan's hands radiated cold air, and chilling blasts spewed forth: "Ice Age!"

Borsalino appeared in mid-air, golden light coalescing at his fingertips, even the sunlight paled in comparison to the dazzling radiance.

"Yata no Kagami!" Countless light Bullets poured down like a torrential rain, shooting towards Bullet on the Front Island.

Boom, boom, boom, the attacks of the three engulfed Bullet.

However...

"Not bad, not bad. As expected of the Marine's new generation of monsters, you have some strength, but it's still not enough!"
