Rushing into the scene, my heart stopped, my breath caught, my fist trembled.
First with rage and then with Karl insistence to be let out.
Perceiving the smell of blood… not just any blood but my mate's blood from the distance made all restraint vanish.
But then I felt my chest tight, my vein bulging as though an unseen force I couldn't name pressed down hard on me.
My gaze swept across the scene in one quick glance to understand the situation.
Phina was on her knees, her body trembling violently, blood streaming from her nose. I didn't need anyone to explain it. She was the villain, the fool who had provoked a sleeping dog.
And as an unawakened she-wolf she had felt the impact of Stella's anger more than anyone else.
And my beta, he was almost bent from his waist, standing between Stella and Phina, fine beads of sweat trailed down his face.
He must have endured much of the impact being so close to her.
