Blanche's POV
I hung up the phone and went to check on Amara.
Amara was caught in another nightmare, sobbing heartbreaking words while she slept.
I kept running my fingers through her hair, whispering comfort again and again.
It took forever, but Amara finally quieted down, her breathing evening out.
Once Amara slipped back into deep sleep, I finally grabbed my phone.
My eyes widened when I saw Zain's call was still active—the line hadn't disconnected, and the timer showed we'd been connected for quite some time.
I hesitated, barely breathing as I whispered, "Zain?"
Zain had kept his phone glued to his ear the entire time. The second he heard my voice, he responded instantly, "Yeah, I'm here."
I caught something soft in his voice that felt strange, almost unreal.
After a moment's pause, I said, "If that's all, I'm hanging up."
Zain seemed panicked I'd end the call, so he rushed to add, "It's been ages since we all sat down for a nice meal together."
