Blanche's POV
As the crowd pressed closer, I wrapped my arms around Camila, pulling her tight against me. Amber moved in beside us, and together we formed a protective wall around the trembling little girl.
Nathan lay crumpled on the floor, groaning twice before dragging himself together, his whole body still shaking from the impact.
Someone helped him to his feet. Once he was upright, I caught a glimpse of his face—soaked in sweat, pale as death. Those icy, unfathomable eyes made it impossible to read his thoughts.
He glared at me through clenched teeth. "You want to die, don't you?"
I didn't spare him a glance. Grabbing Amber's hand, we kept Camila safely between us and headed for the exit.
Several people blocked our path, but I was ready to bulldoze right through them.
That's when Nathan's cold voice cut through the air. "Stop them."
His men rushed forward, seizing Amber and me by the arms, their grips like iron clamps.
We were outnumbered, helpless as trapped animals.
