I'd never blown up at the Jacob family like that before.
It was my first time standing up to them directly, right to their faces.
Nobody in the house expected it, and my sudden outburst left them all speechless.
Ophelia, sitting right next to me, jumped so hard she almost fell off her chair.
But once Ophelia got over her shock, she slammed her bowl down and shot me a deadly glare. "Obviously! With Zain gone, why are you even bothering to stick around? Do you think you deserve to keep breathing?"
I didn't get mad—instead, I stared her down, too fed up to hide what I was thinking.
After a beat of silence, I let out a harsh laugh. "Ha, you're right. With Zain gone, there's no point wasting another second here."
I pushed back from the table and headed for the door.
Tia sat next to Ophelia, her face tight with anxiety, already sensing trouble brewing.
