She was sure she heard a voice call out her name.
Her instincts were as strong as they were very sensitive. She looked as far as her eyes could reach, and even searched the corners where the voice had echoed from...Nothing!
No one was insight.
She turned to Alfred. He too had heard a voice call out her name , but he couldn't tell whose it was.
The day was bright, and warm, and even though the park was fairly filled with cars, it wasn't crowded with people.
But she knew she heard something.
"Do you think it was Mr Marcus, Mom. He's the only one we've been expecting, and there's no reason for him to hide."
"Yeah! But what if he wasn't the one Alfred? Mr Frodd tracked us down here remember? So, l'm thinking anyone can."
Ava's face whitened.
Again, her heart fluttered so fast within her breast, it felt like a bird frantic to escape.
She chose to live on the island for reasons stronger than social status.
She wanted peace.
She wanted solitude and safety for her and Alfred.
