Chapter 14: High-Tier Yellow Rank Dou Weapon – (Tri-Core) Flameburst Armor-Cleaving Sword!
"Magic core firearms have no future… If people in the future want to study them, it won't affect me."
Jiang Lin understood well that the development of magic core firearms was inevitable. He had merely been the one to "open Pandora's box." But that wasn't really his concern. Aside from using them for emergency self-defense, he spent most of his energy pursuing his real goal: creating spiritual weapons.
It was said that pills refined from high-grade materials could develop intelligence. So weapons forged from high-grade materials should have the same potential! A weapon with powerful augmentations that gained sentience—wouldn't that be a proper magical treasure? (In the original novel, high-level alchemists basically handcraft sentient lifeforms—why not weapons too?)
"Thunderfire Plume was just a test project—always meant as a toy to give Xiao Yi Xian for self-defense. My real objective was to verify whether the combustion core design was viable."
In the forge, Jiang Lin glanced at the Thunderfire Plume, then set it aside on a shelf without another thought.
Instead, he began hauling large quantities of refined materials—metals, ores, and beast parts. Some items weighed over a kilo each, and the core weapon material, a Tier 2 violet-gold ingot, was the size of a basketball. Judging by the pace at which he was adding more, it was clear—this next weapon would be nothing like the toy-sized Thunderfire Plume.
With that prior experience under his belt, Jiang Lin swiftly drew up a mental blueprint. Thanks to his extraordinary memory and spiritual strength, he didn't even need to sketch—he simply adjusted the design in his mind until it was perfect and began forging each part.
This project took him nearly a full month—even with all the materials pre-prepared. Without that, it would've taken much longer.
"Mr. Yao, Xiao Linzi's been acting possessed lately. He hasn't rested properly in nearly two months… I even have to bring his meals to the door." During this time, Xiao Yi Xian frequently complained to Mr. Yao about how Jiang Lin hadn't argued—uh, played—with her in weeks.
"Just give him time… That rascal might surprise us yet," Mr. Yao replied, though he often found himself gazing out from the loft, distracted by the clanging from the rear courtyard.
Why is it that what others dream of—true enlightenment—comes to you as effortlessly as breathing? Mr. Yao could never quite understand how Jiang Lin reached a meditative state every time he picked up a hammer. Whenever he watched the boy, Jiang Lin looked tireless—his strikes growing sharper, never showing the slightest hint of fatigue.
Finally, two months after the infamous "boiler explosion," the rhythmic hammering from the backyard came to a halt one sunny afternoon.
Mr. Yao and Xiao Yi Xian put down their tasks and headed for the rear courtyard to check on him.
They weren't afraid of the noise—only of the silence. The last time Jiang Lin went quiet, he'd detonated half the estate.
So no, Mr. Yao's calm expression was a bit of an act.
As for Xiao Yi Xian, she was just eager to see what crazy thing Jiang Lin had forged this time.
Thankfully, this time there was no explosion. Jiang Lin had finished his forging project safely, even spending an extra day or two polishing and refining.
When they arrived, they saw a shirtless Jiang Lin holding a giant, cloth-wrapped sword taller than himself, moving gracefully through warm-up exercises.
"Xiao Linzi! Why are you always shirtless?!" Xiao Yi Xian immediately frowned, blushing slightly as she scolded him.
"Uhh… You've seen it before, haven't you? I'm in my own yard, and you barged in. What do you want me to do? Not charging you for the view is me being generous," Jiang Lin replied casually, caught off guard for a second after not speaking for so long.
He wasn't some elegant alchemist who just sat next to a pill furnace. He had to beat, purify, hammer, and carve inscriptions nonstop—especially next to a blazing forge! You'd sweat to death in robes.
Sure, he'd love to just toss ingredients into a furnace, shake it a little, and watch a weapon pop out. But come on. That wasn't realistic—at least not yet.
"You—!" Xiao Yi Xian puffed up her cheeks, about to argue again, but Jiang Lin cut her off by tossing the wrapped sword aside and heading inside. When he returned, he handed her a wooden box, his body still radiating heat.
"A self-defense weapon I spent two months crafting just for you, Boss Xian'er."
Though she frowned at the sweat and heat coming off him, Xiao Yi Xian couldn't hide the small swell of emotion. But then she raised an eyebrow. Seeing Mr. Yao crouched beside the cloth-wrapped sword, gently stroking it, she asked suspiciously, "That took two months? Then what's that?"
"That? Just something I made along the way." Jiang Lin replied honestly, glancing at the heavy sword.
"Hmph!" Xiao Yi Xian immediately narrowed her eyes and snapped, "Then stop talking if you can't speak properly!"
Jiang Lin chuckled, hands up. "Sweet words never work with you. You ask the hard questions, and I answer truthfully. You want me to lie?"
"Hmph!" Furious, she raised a fist to punch him, then noticed how sweaty he was and backed off in disgust. In the end, she huffed and stomped on his foot—but he dodged just in time.
"Hahaha! Alright, alright, I'll stop teasing you." Jiang Lin laughed, then walked over to Mr. Yao. Muscles taut, he lifted the massive sword overhead with both hands.
Boom!
Boom!
Boom!
Three explosive slashes fell from the greatsword, flames roaring in their wake!

(Jiang Lin's fighting style here bears a hint of Yun Li's heavy sword techniques.)
