Chapter 15: Dou Weapon Skill? Triple Blast Resonance!

"Th-this…"

Mr. Yao and Xiao Yi Xian both jumped when they saw the massive sword buried a full meter deep into the ground.

A Dou Weapon… with an active skill?!

In the echoing aftermath of its triple detonation, the Flameburst Armor-Cleaving Sword had shed its disguise. What appeared before their eyes was a mechanized heavy sword that shattered Mr. Yao's very understanding of weapon design.

The sword in Jiang Lin's hands measured 1.8 meters in length, over 20 centimeters wide, and was incredibly heavy. Even Jiang Lin could only barely manage to swing it. One of its intended purposes was to be used for physical training.

Its appearance was vastly different from traditional heavy swords in the Dou Qi Continent. Where most were forged in one solid piece, Jiang Lin's sword was modular. It was divided into four key parts: a blunt-edged blade, a violet-flame core body, a burst-enhancing spine, and a grip. The blade, forged from tough blue-gold alloy, shimmered pale blue in the sunlight. The body was forged from Tier 2 fire-type metal—Purple Flame Stone—which gave excellent fire-attribute Dou Qi conduction. On the blade's surface were three evenly spaced, glowing red crystal sockets.

The spine of the sword wasn't solid metal but designed with a honeycomb-like vent system, colored dark red. The grip was relatively plain in comparison.

At that moment, the white cloth that had disguised the weapon ignited and burned away in the heat, revealing lava-like crimson runes along the blade that gradually began to fade. Both Flame Fist and Burst Step, two Dou Techniques Mr. Yao had once given him, had been fully integrated into this weapon.

The blade and spine were notably thicker than the core, meaning the sword's surface was concave—not ideal for defense. Mr. Yao instantly realized this wasn't a defensive weapon. Despite its structural weaknesses, it was designed to deliver unmatched frontal killing power.

That earlier demonstration? The triple blast, the explosive momentum? Even a Nine-Star Battle Master standing in front of that slash would be either maimed or killed on the spot.

"Well? What do you think? Cool, right?" Jiang Lin grinned as he watched the fading molten glow from the blade's lava-like veins. The red cores embedded in the sword slowly dimmed.

"I named it the Flameburst Armor-Cleaving Sword. It's got a unique mechanism: during swings, it can trigger up to three fire-type magic cores, each activating a different strike mode—Armor Shatter, Swift Slash, or Heavy Blow."

"Armor Shatter? How does that work?" Mr. Yao crouched and touched the still-warm blade with a trembling hand. The weapon's strange, mechanical elegance felt surreal to him.

He understood Swift Slash and Heavy Blow. Activating a magic core mid-swing would naturally boost speed and force. But Armor Shatter? That part was unclear.

"Well… it's hard to explain," Jiang Lin muttered. He pulled the sword out of the ground, ran inside, and returned with a Grade 1 fire-attribute magic core worth about 500 gold coins. Under Mr. Yao and Xiao Yi Xian's stunned gazes, he slotted it into one of the sword's sockets.

"You… You just used three magic cores—for a demo?!" Xiao Yi Xian gawked at him, wide-eyed.

Jiang Lin scratched his head, embarrassed. "I mean… you wanted to hear it, right?"

Still, he didn't stop. He finished swapping in the core, raised the sword, and gently rested it on a hunk of discarded ore the size of a car tire.

Although considered scrap, the ore was as hard as standard iron weapons.

"Armor Shatter means that if your slash is blocked and the clash causes a stalemate, you can—"

BOOM!

The molten glow flared once more. In a flash of light, the ore split cleanly down the middle beneath the blade!

In stunned silence, Mr. Yao and Xiao Yi Xian watched Jiang Lin withdraw the sword from the dust and rubble.

Some concepts are too difficult to explain without context. The Flameburst Armor-Cleaving Sword was a mechanical weapon. Inside, it housed a spring-loaded impact mechanism. The moment the blade met resistance, it would release concentrated force in a burst. Against weaker materials, the result was total destruction.

"Three magic cores, three detonations—you can think of them as triple attack triggers."

"But Boss Xian'er's right about one thing… this thing burns through money." While Mr. Yao and Xiao Yi Xian were still dazed, Jiang Lin casually pulled out some rags and began rewrapping the sword.

Its mechanical design was too eye-catching. He didn't want to draw unnecessary attention.

"…The cost is secondary. As long as it's worth it, the returns can be incredible." After a long silence, Mr. Yao sighed as he watched Jiang Lin rewrap the weapon under the setting sun.

A Dou Weapon with active skills—at the right moment, it could absolutely save a life.

Analyzing its materials, Mr. Yao was certain: if a Great Battle Master wielded this sword, their opponent—unfamiliar with its mechanics—might be killed in a single clash.

"Still, best to keep this one hidden. I can see it—this sword was made to be your personal training weapon."

"Of course. Don't worry, Mr. Yao. I gained a lot from this seclusion. Now I can start forging some low-tier Yellow Rank weapons and use them to exchange for other resources." Jiang Lin nodded seriously. After several rare, precious epiphanies—well, that sounded a little exaggerated—he felt his forgemaster knowledge had reached a temporarily sufficient level. It was time to shift his focus to production.

He also sensed that he was close to breaking through to the Fourth Stage of Dou Qi. At his current pace, two to three months per advancement wasn't unusual.

With nine stages in total, if his progress remained steady, he could become a true Dou Fighter within two years. He'd still only be twelve years old then—having only trained for two years.

(For reference, Xiao Yan in the early story had similar speed only for a remote-region genius. His real advantage came in the later stages when he advanced like a cheat code.)
