Clank~ Clank~
The black metal door slowly slid open, as cold air brushed against Ethan's face. It wasn't the kind of air that felt like an AC, but more like the type that would sink in deep into your skin and make you uncomfortable.
" Gulp" fear clunged to his heart as a wave of dread ran down his spine. His hands were shaking, but he clenched them into a fist, showing his resolve.
* I'm getting to the bottom of this today, and nothing's gonna stop me*
He then stepped forward, not knowing that his life would change from here on out.

••••••••
As he stepped into the lab, his nose was immediately attacked by the pungent stink of blood and carcass.
" Ugh! It seems scientist aren't the best cleane-" his words stopped halfway through his throat as his eyes was revealed to what was inside.
Mangled bodies of animals lay bare on the ground, their guts and intestines rolling around everywhere.
Some were stuck on the ceiling, others far away from the actual body on the ground, a few now merged with the metallic furniture in the lab.
Broken test tubes and equipment were also not spared from this gruesome scene, as many of them was broken and laying on the ground, blood surrounding their sharp edges, causing him to wonder if these were human or animal blood.
Cages which once housed a multitude of beasts, now have their bars already broken off and pointing out with the intent to kill. And just like almost everything else in that room, it was covered in nothing but blood and gore.
Even acidic chemicals were still bubbling aroundin the metal tables trying to eat it away, but it seems like all the metals in this room were of a kind that he wasn't known to.
" God! What happened here? How many things died in here?!" He exclaimed with his hands still clutching his nose in disgust. If not for the fact that he had faced a lot of things due to Roen's bullying in school, he would have probably puked his brains out in such a scenario.
Looking around, he began to move through the chaos of glass, gut and sometimes eyeballs.
He would occasionally spot a book but once he picked it up and glanced through it, there seemed to have been some chemical that had eaten away the pages of the book, rendering it useless.
* What really happened here sixteen years ago?*
With everything he was looking at right now, he knew that whatever had gone down here, it was something really, really big.
As he continued exploring the lab, his hand mistakenly grazed upon the jagged edge of a test tube embedded into the wall.
" Sssshit!" he hissed at the pain, as he raised his hand to get a clearer view at the wound.
A crimson bead of blood slowly welled up from the injury in his hand, so he shook it off and placed the side of his palm in his mouth.
* I better hurry out of here before I get hurt again. I haven't been able to find anything useful, so this was probably all in vain* he was just about to turn around and leave when his eyes caught a cabinet at the far end corner of the lab.
It seemed to be out of place, as there was no trace of blood or any animal carcass near it. It looked clean and maybe even new, like it wasn't here when all this had happened.
* Strange* he thought, as he moved towards the metal cabinet.
There were about nineteen drawers in the cabinet after he had slowly counted them, then he decided to try to open one of it.
But no matter which he chose, all were sealed shut, it seemed that there was a need for a key—for each of them.
" How am I meant to get a key for these things? I'm sure not even my parents would be able to find those keys by now!" His frustration was already close to boiling point.
He had a feeling that whatever was in this cabinet, would give him the answer to what he was searching for.
But unfortunately, he doesn't have a key.
*Damn it!* Once again, he punched the cabinet with all his strength out if anger, but the moment he did, his hands imited a sound of cracking bones.
" Agg!" Ethan exclaimed as pain shot through his already injured hand, causing blood to unceasingly flow out.
* I better get out of here. Mom and Dad said they'd be back tonight* just as he was about to leave, a drawer in the cabinet suddenly slid open.
" What?! Is my first magical?" He began to wonder. First it was when he was on the stairway, he had punched the wall and the lights came on, now he had punched the cabinet and a drawer finally slid open. It seemed like something didn't want him to leave here with unanswered questions. {A/N: Or someone (◠‿◕)}
Looking into the drawer, he saw a vile of black liquid inside a container with a strange looking book by its side.
* Why would something like this be in here?* He thought, as he grabbed the book, ignoring the vile of liquid. He thought of it as some sciency thing that has no business with him.
As he grabbed the book, he turned it open.
[ Log Book]
" Yes!" Excitement bubbled within him as he saw those words. This was exactly what he came looking for.
It's time for answers.
Then he flipped to the next page, but what he was there puzzled him. A bunch of strange symbols which seemed to be words of a different language.
But Ethan had taken a fairly good amount of language classes, and this, was not one of them.
He continued flipping over and over to the next pages, but it was all the same.
Flip~ strange words.
Flip~ strange words.
Flip~ strange words.
Until he eventually arrived at the last page. But luckily, this time, there were words in Spanish that he could actually read.
It stated:
"Test subject has become a failure, black alteration of genes is too potent for human enhancement. Human subject dead, diagnosed with lycanthropy of a different species. Experiments failed. Shutting down all operations. Mysterious black blood, not for human absorbtion . Death imminent."
And that was it. That was all that was written on the last page of the log book.
Ethan was a little confused, or should I say shakened by the thoughts that are beginning to scare him.
_ Did my parents failed an experiment and killed someone?_
_what the fuck is lycanthropy_
_Black alteration genes? We're they trying to change someone into something?_
_ wait! Mysterious black blood!_
Ethan remembered that there was a black substance inside of the test tube that he found in the drawer. So he put the book in his pocket, and looked into the drawer. And there it was, the black blood.
If he was correct this must have been the main reason for the building of this secret lab.
As he brought it out from the drawer, he lifted it to eye level, as he stared at it curiously.
" What is this thing?" Ethan was confused as to how a substance could ever be so dark, it looked almost as if a piece of the dark endless space was put into a test tube! It was something Ethan never thought possible.
" Where did you come fr-"
Before Ethan could finish his sentence, the test tube slipped from his hand.
Crash!~
The test tube fell to the ground and broke, the black blood was immediately spilled on the ground.
" No, no , no, no, no!" Ethan Immediately dropped to the ground, and began trying to pack up the blood, as he reached out for another test tube, but before his hands could touch the other test tube, his whole body froze.
" What the heck?!" Ethan said, as he felt the control of his body dwindling by the second. His head began to feel heavy, as if someone dropped a mountain on it. He suddenly fell to the ground and fainted.
His body soon began convulsing rapidly, as a crimson trail of blood leaked from the side of his mouth.
Turns out that when Ethan knelt down to try and scoop up the black blood, some of it got into the open wound in his hand.
