Chapter 6 - The Awakening.

Are the lights off, why's everywhere so dark?*

Ethan found himself in a space of darkness. He was unsure if he was standing or sitting, but if he was to guess, it felt more like he was floating on nothing but air.

He couldn't remember much of what happened, the last thing he recalled was when the vile of blood had slipped from his hand and shattered unto the ground, from there—nothing, his memories after that felt blurry and distant, like something didn't want him to know what happened next.

He began wondering where he was and how he got here, but before he could think further, a large pair of eyes appeared in front of him, causing fear to tighten in his chest as his heart beat grew intensely.

The eyes were huge and black, distant, yet so close, cold but also...ever so chilling. They seemed not to stare at him, but at his soul, like it wanted to eat away his humanity.

" W-what are you?" He asked, his voice shaking under his breath, even his eyes seemed to hold fear that had never caught him before.

But even as he asked, there was no response, just the continuous stare of the darkness within those eyes, calm, structured, and maybe even a bit disdainful.

Sigh~

A voice, distant, sympathetic sighed in sorrow.

Shake~

Ethan paused as he heard the sigh, his entire being froze and began to shake involuntarily.

He didn't know why, but the profound amount of dread he felt as those massive eyes stared into him, was not even close to what he felt when he heard the voice sighing, he felt that if he spoke this time, he would probably die!

" Yo÷ £•| ®÷••|[√\π useless, ;÷√ [§√ worthless. For e:|[ the most worthless metals, can still be •|^×ned into the greatest ~|£∆§[ with the use of the right fire,"

" So I shall forge you into the greatest weapon and make all tremble before you. You shall be °§€!"

He was unable to understand the words if the voice, but for those he had made sense of, they seemed more like the spout of rubbish than actual words. So he wanted to ask. He wanted to query as to what the voice had said, but before he could, the eyes became colder— radiating a killing intent that froze his breath.

But being in such an environment, he wasn't even sure if where he was facing was front and not back or maybe up and not down. He wasn't sure on how to move his feet—He couldn't run away.

" W- What do y-you want?! Don't Kill me! Araaagghhh!" His heart pounded the walls of his ribs as he screamed, he hoped for someone, anyone to hear his cres, but it was all to a futile endeavor, as the darkness drowned out his screams.

Adrenaline tried to help, but it just proves futile, as no part of him would move.

" Your death is inevitable. But it shall not come now...for now, I must eat away what makes you human. For the finest of steel, has to be purified before becoming anything worthy of a master...And so...you must be purified,"

They grew bigger, colder, making him feel the level of how small he was compared to this entity. He was nothing but an ant in front of this giant.

A body slowly began emerging. A face filled with fur appeared, then a body, then the legs, revealing the eyes to belong to a wolf so big and black that even a star would pale in comparison.

The beast lowered its massive head.

"I am Amon, god of the night. And you, mortal, will serve as my vessel."

Its jaws opened — vast enough to devour stars. Ethan stared into that abyss as galaxies shimmered between its fangs.

"Your death is imminent."

Boom!

It swallowed him whole!

•••••

" Ahgh!" Ethan jolted up from his bed, his mind heazy with fear as he screamed at the top of his lungs, fear still clinging to his heart.

" Ethan! Ethan! Baby please stop!" A woman's voice was heard, she spoke with alarm and concern, but he didn't relent and kept on screaming, rolling around as she tried to pin him to the bed.

" Aaaahhg!"

" Doctor! Hurry up! DOCTOR!!" Her heart pounded as she watched her son thrash and scream — like a soul trapped in a bottle.

This was Ethan's mother, her auburn hair rolled down to the bottom of her waist with deep black eyes and a beautifully sculpted face. She seemed to be able to put many models to shame and still look good while doing it.

Immediately the doctor rushed inside. Seeing Ethan screaming out of control, he got some drugs and immediately injected them into his blood stream, and almost immediately, they took effect, causing the young man to fall back to sleep, his mind still carrying the fear he had felt in that place of darkness and death.

If Ethan hadn't woken up in such a manner, he would have realized that he was back in his room with a few medical equipments attached to him.

A few hours ago, Ethan's parents had arrived home, only to see their only son lying half dead on the ground, immediately they had called over their personal doctor to come and check up on him.

But the hospital was to far away for the doctor to arrive quickly, but lucky enough, they were scientist and were able to quickly stabilize his health before the doctor had arrived, since then his mother had been by his side not wanting to leave his side at all, and she didn't, she made sure that she didn't even move and inch away from his room for fear of something happening to him.

" Doctor what's wrong with my child?" His mother asked, concern laced with urgency in her voice.

" Don't worry ma'am, it just seems to be a slight shock from having fainted, once he wakes up again, I'm sure he would be alright and back to normal. Honestly, I don't know why he acted that way, his vitals seem to be stable and nothing seemed wrong, but I suppose he still needs a bit more rest then," The doctor said with a slight, reassuring smile.

" Oh thank God," Ethan's mother exclaimed with a sigh of relief.

Suddenly the door was pushed open and in came a fairly muscular man with a steady and stern gaze. His glasses seemed to be of a designer brand, and mostly everything about him spoke rich, but the moment he laid his eyes on Ethan's sleeping body, his gaze softened like one only a father could.

" Thank you for your help doctor, I really appreciate you coming down here for my son," the man said, taking the hands of the doctor and shaking it with a smile.

" There's no need to thank me Mr Carter, I'm just doing my job, besides, you will be paying me, so thank you isn't really necessary," The doctor spoke with a grin that only a man who had dabbled in many years if business could understand.

" Whatever you say doctor. Let's discuss on your feet as I walk you out," a conniving smile also grew on Mr Carter 's face, causing the man to think something was off, but for money, he would do whatever—that was the only reason he became a doctor anyways.

As soon as the men left, Ethan's mother took another glance at her son and walked out of the room, but just before she left, she turned her head to a corner in the room and spoke," watch and take care of him, he's your young boss from now on," she then turned the knob and opened the door, walking through it without a second glance.

From the corner, a lady with thick black hair and big brown eyes slowly walked out of the shadows and towards Ethan.

As she got to his side if the bed, she brushed her fingers against his face," of course I'll take care of him, he is my brother after all,"
