Chapter 23 - Unspoken Truths

Wali goes to his room and sits quietly on the floor. There is darkness in his room. He sits silently—no tears, no questions—only he and his loneliness. Zayan's words keep echoing in his mind.

Zayan: You spoiled everything, Wali. Our bond, our relationship—everything, Wali.

Wali looks at his reflection in the mirror and smiles.

Wali:

Am I really bad? I think Zayan is right. I just spoil everything. That's why nobody wants me in their life. I'm alone again. First Mom left me, then Zoya, and now my brother. Everyone leaves me, one by one.

Flashback

Servant: Wali… Wali sir, please eat something. You haven't eaten anything since morning.

Wali: No… I don't want anything. Just… call my Mom.

Servant: Wali sir, please…

Wali starts crying.

Wali: Mama… mama… I want to see my Mom. She called me yesterday and promised she would visit today.

Servant: Wali, my love, please don't cry, okay? We'll call your dad, alright?

Wali wipes his tears.

Wali: Promise?

The servant smiles faintly.

Servant: Yes.

A voice comes from the corner: "Wali."

Wali runs to his dad and hugs him.

Wali: Dad… where is Mom? Is she outside?

Dad: Nope… she's not here.

Wali: So… where is she?

Dad: I've told you a thousand times. Your Mom left you. She will never meet you again. She hates you.

Wali: No… no… you're lying! She loves me! She promised she would come today!

Dad (shouting): Don't you understand what I'm saying? She doesn't love you. She doesn't even care about you. If she did, she wouldn't have left.

Suddenly, a phone rings.

Faisal: Yes… I'm coming.

Faisal turns to the servant:

Faisal: Feed him his food. And you—eat your dinner and go to bed.

Present Time

That was the day I realized no one wanted me… until I met you, Zayan. But today, I feel the same again.

Wali grabs a vase and throws it at the mirror. It shatters into pieces.

Wali: Aah… AAAAH!

Why?

Why is it always me?

He bends down onto his knees, surrounded by broken glass.

Scene – Back at the Hospital

It's 4 AM.

Everyone waits outside the ICU. Silence fills the room—no whispers, no footsteps—only prayers on their lips. Their eyes stay locked on the ICU door.

Suddenly, the door opens, and a doctor comes out.

Everyone turns to him.

Uncle: How is she?

The doctor smiles.

Doctor: She's out of danger.

Uncle: Thank God!

Everyone exhales, relief flooding the room.

Zoya: Can we see her?

Doctor: Sure. We'll shift her to her room, then you can.

The doctor leaves.

Auntie: Thank God she's fine.

Scene – Hospital Room

Uncle kisses Zara on the head.

Uncle: Thank God, my kid is safe. You don't know how much I worried about you.

Auntie hugs her.

Auntie: Zara, my love, I'm so happy to see you.

Zara smiles.

Zara: Don't worry, I'm okay.

Zoya hugs Zara.

Zoya: I was so scared…

Zara gently removes her hand, her expression cold.

Zara: Don't be scared, my beloved sister.

Zoya: Hmm…

Zoya looks at Zara's face, trying to read her expression.

Sara: Are you okay?

Zara: Yes.

Auntie: Sara, where is your brother, Ali, and that other boy?

Ali comes in.

Ali: Hi Zara, how are you now?

Zara smiles.

Zara: I'm good.

Ali: You really scared us.

Uncle: Where is that boy… what's his name… Zayan?

Zara's smile fades as she hears his name. She holds her chest; her pulse slows slightly.

Ali: Are you okay?

Zara: Yeah… I just need rest.

Nurse: Okay, please you all go out. The patient needs some rest.

Uncle: Yeah… let's go outside.

Meanwhile, Zayan watches her silently from behind the mirror.

Zayan sat in the cafeteria.

Ali: You're here! I've been looking for you. Hey, take a chill pill—she's fine now. The doctor said they'll discharge her within a week, maybe a couple of weeks.

Zayan looks at Ali's face; his eyes are red.

Zayan: She… she doesn't want to see me, right?

Ali looks away, hiding his eyes.

Zayan smiles faintly, wiping his tears.

Zayan: I knew it… she hates me. Of course she would when she wakes up. Because I deserve that… I broke her trust.

Ali: No… you don't deserve that.

Zayan smiles and stands up.

Zayan: She's fine now. That's enough for me.

He walks away, muttering to himself:

Zayan: Let's go.

Scene – Shah Family

Zayan enters his house quietly. He walks toward his room when suddenly a voice echoes from the hallway.

Voice: Zayan!

Zayan turns around, shocked.

Zayan: Grandpa?

Grandpa: Yes, it's me. What are you doing there? Come and give your grandpa a hug.

Zayan runs toward his grandpa and hugs him tightly.

Zayan: I missed you so much.

Grandpa: I missed you too.

Grandpa notices the redness in Zayan's eyes.

Grandpa: What happened to your eyes? Are you okay?

Zayan rolls his eyes lightly.

Zayan: Come on, Grandpa. I'm your grandson. Do you really think something happened to me?

Grandpa: Yeah… I see.

From a distance, Faisal speaks.

Faisal: Oh… so you finally met your grandpa.

Grandpa turns toward him.

Grandpa: Why? Are you not happy to see me with my grandson?

Faisal: Come on, Mr. You're overreacting.

Grandpa: Hmm.

Servant: Sir, breakfast is ready.

Faisal: Okay, we're coming.

Faisal looks at Grandpa and Zayan and smiles.

Faisal: Let's go.

Everyone settles around the dining table.

Zayan: Grandpa, take that omelette. It tastes really good.

Grandpa smiles.

Grandpa: Sure.

Faisal: Yeah, eat well, father-in-law… ah—sorry, my bad. I mean my beloved ex father-in-law.

Grandpa: Hmm… don't forget, I'm only here for my grandsons. Otherwise, I would never come here.

Faisal smiles.

Faisal: Of course, I know that.

Grandpa looks at Zayan.

Grandpa: Zayan, where is your twin?

Zayan's smile fades.

Zayan: I don't know.

Suddenly, a loud singing voice comes from the hallway.

Faisal: Who is that jerk?

Servant: It's Wali, sir.

Grandpa: What?

Wali walks in. He can barely stand properly—he's completely drunk.

Wali smiles.

Wali: Wow… what a sweet moment. Father and son sitting together, having breakfast. What a loving morning.

Suddenly, Wali's eyes stop on Grandpa.

Wali: Who is that old man? What are you doing here, old man?

Zayan: Wali—

Grandpa cuts Zayan off.

Grandpa: I am your grandpa. You are my grandson.

Wali: Grandpa? Grandson?

Wali pauses for a moment.

Wali: Old man, you're mistaken. I don't have a grandpa. In fact, I don't have anyone. I live alone.

Wali lowers his voice; his expression changes.

Wali: Because my Dad steals every single person from me—everyone who comes close to me.

Faisal stands up, furious.

Faisal (shouting): Shut up! How dare you come to my house in this condition?

Wali smirks.

Wali: Why? Are you scared that someone might know your reality?

Faisal: Wali—

Zayan: Dad, he's not in his senses. He's drunk. Don't waste your time on him.

Wali laughs loudly and holds his brother's face in his hands.

Wali: Bro, you're so innocent… just like an angel.

Zayan removes his hand.

Zayan (coldly): Go to your room and rest.

Wali: Okay. Bye-bye, Grandpa. See you soon.

Wali leaves.

Grandpa looks at Faisal.

Grandpa: Wow. You raised Wali very well. Bravo.

Faisal: Zayan, take your grandpa to his room. He might be tired.

Excuse me, I have work to do.

Faisal leaves as well.

Zayan: Let's go. I'll show you the room.

Grandpa: Hmm.

Zayan shows the room to Grandpa.

Zayan (smiling): Look, Grandpa, this is your room. This is the best room in the house. And you know it's near my room—my room is just next to yours. I'm really happy you finally came back to me.

Suddenly, Grandpa hugs Zayan.

Grandpa: Don't try to hide your pain from me. I raised you. I know you very well. I was the one who taught you how to take your first step.

Zayan hugs his grandpa tightly. He tries his best, but he can't stop his tears.

Grandpa: Hey, look at me. What happened? Did your dad do something?

Zayan: No… he didn't. Actually, I just miss Mom too much today.

Zayan wipes his tears.

Zayan: Anyway… you're here for me. That's enough.

Grandpa kisses Zayan on the head.

Grandpa: Yeah, I miss your Mom too. But don't worry, I'm always here for you, my son.

Zayan: I know.

Grandpa: Okay… by the way, what about Wali? Is he always like that?

Zayan: I don't know. He's unpredictable. Anyway, you should rest.

Grandpa: Okay.

Zayan leaves the room.

While walking, Zayan stops in front of Wali's room. He goes inside.

Zayan opens the door and sees Wali sleeping on the floor instead of the bed.

Zayan: What an idiot… he didn't even realize he's sleeping on the floor. But how can you sleep so peacefully, Wali? What kind of person are you? You've destroyed so many people's lives, yet you sleep like nothing happened. Wow… what kind of person are you?

Suddenly, Zayan's phone rings.

Zayan: Hello, Zoya.

Zoya: Hello… can we meet?

Zayan: Sure.

Zoya: Okay. Just come to the park near the hospital.

Zayan: Okay.

Zoya: Bye.

Zayan cuts the call.

Scene – Hospital

Zara lies on the hospital bed.

Doctor: So, how are you feeling now?

Zara: I'm good.

Doctor: Well, that's good to hear.

Zara: Doctor, when will I be discharged?

Doctor: In just a few hours.

Zara: Okay, thank you.

Doctor: Get well soon.

The doctor leaves.

Uncle: So… are you happy now?

Zara: Hmm.

Uncle… who hit Mom and Dad's car?

Uncle raises his eyebrows and looks at Zara.

Uncle: Why are you asking that question so suddenly?

Zara: Please… tell me.

Uncle: Well… it was a man. I don't know him.

Zara: A man?

Uncle: Yes. In fact, the police arrested him.

Zara: Hmm…

Uncle: Dear, don't worry. Don't think too much. Just rest.

Zara looks away.

Zara (to herself): Of course… his dad saved him.

Ali is sitting in the room. Meanwhile, Sara comes from the kitchen.

Sara: Ali… Ali! Where are you?

Ali: I'm here.

Sara runs toward him and hugs her brother tightly.

Sara: Ali… Ali!

Ali: What happened, girl?

Sara: Guess what?

Ali looks at her, confused.

Ali: What?

Sara: I got admission to my dream university.

Ali: What? That's fantastic! I'm so happy for you.

Sara: Yeah…

Sara pauses. Her voice lowers.

Sara: But I have to move to another country. How can I leave without you?

Ali: Well… what if I say I'm also coming?

Sara: What? Seriously?

Ali: Yeah. For your kind information, Dad's company also has a branch there. We have to shift.

Sara: Yes! I'm so happy. Why didn't you tell me earlier?

Ali: Because I just remembered now.

Sara: Idiot. Anyway, I'm going to inform the others. Bye!

Ali smiles.

Ali: Be careful, crazy girl.

Sara leaves.

Ali's smile slowly fades.

Ali (to himself): Where is Wali? It's been four days, and he hasn't even shown his face. I have to meet him.

Scene – Zayan meets Zoya

Zayan is already sitting on the bench, waiting for her.

Zoya: Sorry, I'm a little bit late.

Zayan (smiling): It's okay. By the way, how are you?

Zoya (smiling faintly): I don't know.

Zayan: So… Zara is upset with you too?

Zoya: Hmm.

Zayan: I'm sorry. I think that day I should have listened to you.

Flashback:

Zoya: You are that boy.

Zayan: Yes, I am. But before taking any action, just listen to me… at least once.

Zoya pauses.

Zoya: Okay, tell me.

Zayan: I know you love your sister very much, but trust me… I don't want to hurt her. I just want to help her.

Zoya: Wow… first you destroy her, and now you want to build her?

Zayan: I know you don't want to trust me, but just give me one chance.

Zoya: How can I trust you?

Zayan smiles and looks at her.

Zayan: Zara… she means my world.

He turns away.

Present time:

Zoya: That day… I saw the truth in your eyes. You seemed different from the others.

Zayan: Thank you… for supporting me.

Zoya: Anyway, I just want to tell you something important. Actually, Zara moved to Skyline Vale City… to her Aunt's place.

Zayan: What?

Zoya: Zayan, I think you should talk to her before she leaves the country.

Zayan: Hmm.

Meanwhile, Faisal Shah watches them from a distance through his car window.

Faisal (to Manager): Who is that girl?

Manager: She's Zoya, Zara's sister. And she's also Zayan's classmate.

Faisal: Hmm… keep an eye on Zayan.

A phone rings.

Faisal: Now what, brother-in-law?

Brother-in-law: Wali knows everything.

Faisal: What do you mean?

Brother-in-law: He knows how you used him against his brother.

Faisal cut the call

Faisal with himself:

This was not the end—this was the beginning of the storm.
