Chapter 30 - Chapter 30 – The Empress Has Never Attended School

After Lin Fan repeatedly stressed that Zhou Yan was a financial backer who had lent them money, and that he was specifically called over to figure out a way for Longyue to get a job, Longyue finally gave up on the idea of killing and burying a body, and settled down on the living room sofa.

As soon as she sat down, Zhou Yan cheerfully called out again:

"Sister-in-law~ You and that kid, Lin Fan, truly make a matched pair!"

Longyue: "…!"

Longyue's forehead twitched slightly, and the murderous intent that had just been quelled in her heart flared up again.

Seeing this, Lin Fan quickly pressed down on her hand and switched the conversation to Zhou Yan:

"Right, Yan Zi, do you have any jobs you can introduce?"

"Oh! You're finally seeing the light? You're not planning to write novels anymore?" Zhou Yan asked gleefully.

Lin Fan shook his head.

"You misunderstood. This isn't for me, but I want you to help her find a suitable job."

As he spoke, Lin Fan turned his head to look at Longyue beside him.

Zhou Yan followed his gaze toward Longyue, an 'I see' expression appearing on his face.

He immediately patted his chest and guaranteed:

"So it's for sister-in-law. Don't worry, I have plenty of good jobs I can introduce."

Zhou Yan called her sister-in-law every time he spoke. Longyue was so angry that she clenched her delicate fists, but she restrained herself, constantly reminding herself in her heart:

This person is here specifically to introduce me to a job, I can't kill him… at least, I can't kill him for now…

"Mmm… sister-in-law, do you know how to use Office software? For example, making a few spreadsheets, compiling data, and such?" Zhou Yan asked.

"O-Office…?"

Longyue had a bewildered look and turned to look at Lin Fan, utterly baffled.

She thought she had grasped a lot about this world, but Zhou Yan stunned her with his very first words.

She had never heard of such advanced vocabulary before…

"Yan Zi, she has never touched a computer before. She doesn't understand these things,"

Lin Fan explained on Longyue's behalf.

Even many university students nowadays couldn't use Office software with ease, let alone her.

Currently, she only knew how to order food and shop online on her phone. She only had a partial understanding of the other software on her phone. Asking her to use a computer for office work was truly setting her up for failure.

"I see…"

Hearing that Longyue didn't understand computers, Zhou Yan wasn't too surprised.

Nowadays, there were indeed many girls who didn't have much contact with computers and were completely new to them. Some even touched a computer for the first time after entering university. He was used to seeing such things.

After thinking a little longer, Zhou Yan seemed to recall something else. His eyes lit up, and he introduced another opening:

"My uncle's company is short of a data manager. Sister-in-law, your duties are simply printing documents, distributing materials before meetings, turning on the projector in advance, and just handling the preparation before the meeting. How about that?"

"Printing documents… projector…?"

Longyue's delicate brows furrowed slightly, and she once again looked at Lin Fan with a blank expression.

Lin Fan felt desperate and had no choice but to explain to Zhou Yan again:

"Yan Zi, it's not just computers. She really doesn't know about other electronic products either. She only recently learned how to watch TV and use a mobile phone…"

"Is there a simpler job?"

"Huh…?"

Zhou Yan's expression showed his surprise, and he looked at Longyue with a face full of disbelief.

This was the 21st century. Even little kids knew how to use a mobile phone nowadays.

There was a human who was only learning to watch TV and use a mobile phone now?

What kind of primitive life has this sister-in-law been living!

Looking at the sister-in-law, she was a standard Oriental beauty, and she also spoke Mandarin. She didn't look like an illegal immigrant from a remote corner of the African continent…

Not understanding electronic products meant saying goodbye to many of the more relaxed office jobs. But since he was introducing a job to his own sister-in-law, he naturally couldn't give her a beast-of-burden type of job.

Mmm…

Zhou Yan knitted his brows and pondered. Then, as if he had thought of something, he spoke:

"In that case, sister-in-law, is your handwriting nice?"

"The mother over there sometimes can't handle everything herself and needs someone to help write some documents on her behalf. The requirements aren't high, as long as the handwriting is beautiful."

"I can do that!"

Longyue's eyes shone. She excitedly searched for a pen and a blank sheet of paper in the living room and skillfully began to write on the paper.

After waiting for so long, a question about a field she was proficient in was finally asked!

Zhou Yan craned his neck, his face full of anticipation.

However, as Longyue wrote stroke after stroke on the paper, the anticipation on his face immediately turned into shock.

It wasn't that her handwriting wasn't good. On the contrary, her writing was delicate and lively, as graceful as a flying dragon and dancing phoenix. But the problem was… the characters didn't look like Chinese characters!

As a university student, he was shocked to find that he couldn't understand a single character!

"How is it~?"

Longyue held up the paper with the writing to show him, her face full of confidence.

She couldn't speak for other things, but she was extremely confident in her own handwriting.

As the Empress of the Supreme Holy Palace, she often needed to review and approve official documents. Writing was simply not an issue for her at all.

Within the Immortal Realm, everyone who had ever seen her handwriting praised it without exception!

Zhou Yan leaned closer to observe it carefully and repeatedly, then awkwardly pointed to the characters on the paper.

"Er… sister-in-law, your handwriting is really good, but why can't I understand what you're writing?"

"I can make out some traces of Chinese characters, but it doesn't look like it. What kind of script is this?"

"Immortal Script~!"

Longyue raised her head and puffed out her chest, her expression proud.

The Immortal Script was originally based on the ancient written language of the humans.

Over time, it gradually incorporated the characteristics of the immortal race and was modified, evolving into the written language of the Immortal Realm, hence the name Immortal Script.

The Immortal Script was similar to ancient Chinese characters but more intricate and complex. Ordinary humans generally couldn't write it, which specifically highlighted the noble status of the immortal race.

"Immortal Script…?"

Zhou Yan had a stunned look on his face, momentarily unsure of what to say.

Since childhood, he had seen various scripts like Regular script, Song script, and Clerical script. This was the first time he had heard of Immortal Script…

Lin Fan sighed lightly, an 'I knew it would be like this' expression on his face.

He had long heard that the Immortal Realm had a unique Immortal Script system.

Longyue was born in the Immortal Realm, so naturally, what she learned was the Immortal Script.

She had only been on Blue Star for a month; it wasn't an exaggeration to say her understanding of this world was like that of a baby.

Even for the latest Pinyin she had learned, she followed the Xinhua Dictionary he bought her. Currently, just to type a single character, she had to slowly type the Pinyin one by one, taking a long time. How could she possibly write documents…

"Yan Zi, truth be told, your sister-in-law has never attended school. She can't really write and is still at a beginner stage…"

Lin Fan leaned into Zhou Yan's ear and whispered a helpless explanation.

"Huh??"

Zhou Yan's expression showed his surprise once again. He looked at Longyue again as if she were a rare species.

Sister-in-law not only completely didn't understand electronic products, but she had also never even attended school!?

He thought the online phrase 'fish that slipped through the net of nine-year compulsory education' was just a joke made by silly netizens. He never thought it was actually real…

And that person was his sister-in-law…

She hadn't attended school and completely didn't understand electronic products. What kind of job could she possibly do…?
