Chapter 232: Breaking the Door!
This iron gate is seriously tough.
Kenji marveled silently.
Against a normal iron door, that single jab would have punched clean through. But here, it only left a dent.
The prosecutors seemed to have expected this outcome. The one who spoke to Kenji earlier advised him again, "Alright, alright, save your energy. Let's just hold our position and wait here. Maybe someone will try to escape this way."
Kenji turned to look at the prosecutor. "I want to try again."
The prosecutor shrugged. Seeing Kenji's stubbornness, he didn't argue further.
Turning back, Kenji looked at the iron gate again.
Beedrill's crimson compound eyes also revealed a glint of seriousness as it stared at the obstacle.
In the next moment, Beedrill began to move its body in a rhythmic, somewhat eerie dance.
Swords Dance!!
As the dance completed, Beedrill's Attack stat skyrocketed.
THUD!!! —
Beedrill raised its lance. Instead of a thrust, it swung down in a heavy chop, slamming into the gate with a muffled thud.
Fury Cutter!!!
BANG!!! —
BANG!!!! —
BANG!!!!!! —
Beedrill struck again and again. With each consecutive hit, the power of Fury Cutter doubled.
Initially, it only deepened the dent. But soon, the entire gate began to warp and deform visibly.
"This..."
The prosecutors stared at the gate in shock.
To warp such a reinforced gate to this extent... the power behind Beedrill's Fury Cutter must have reached Champion-level potency!!
Ignoring their stunned expressions, Beedrill raised its arm high, charging up for the final, max-power strike.
Fury Cutter had a damage cap; it couldn't stack infinitely. But right now, it had reached its peak power.
BOOM!!! —
CRRRACK... SNAP!!! —
As Beedrill brought its lance down, the iron gate let out a screeching wail of metal being torn apart.
"This..."
Everyone's jaw dropped. They stared in disbelief at the massive breach Beedrill had carved into the gate.
The hole was large enough for a person to walk through.
It broke! It actually broke!!
This gate was made of materials that even Champion-level Pokémon found hard to scratch.
Yet, Beedrill had breached it!!
For a moment, the people who were waiting to see Kenji fail and laugh at him were stunned into silence.
"Beautifully done, Beedrill," Kenji praised at the right moment. He peered through the breach.
Beyond lay a long corridor, seemingly leading deep into the Team Rocket base.
"You guys guard this spot. I'm going in to check the situation," Kenji said to the prosecutors beside him.
One prosecutor nodded blankly. By the time he snapped out of it, Kenji had already slipped through the hole.
Kenji moved easily through the large gap Beedrill had created.
Once inside the corridor, Kenji threw a Poké Ball, releasing Ninetales.
With Ninetales—who possessed both Teleport and psychic detection—by his side, Kenji felt much safer.
Beedrill led the way, with Kenji and Ninetales following closely behind, ready for Ninetales to protect Kenji instantly if trouble arose.
Not long after entering, Kenji encountered a fork in the path. He looked at Ninetales.
Ninetales closed its eyes, spreading its psychic senses. But a moment later, it shook its head helplessly.
The structure of these tunnels seemed specially designed to block psychic detection to some degree.
With no other choice, Kenji picked a path based on intuition. But soon, he encountered another fork.
After winding through five or six intersections, Kenji found himself facing a door.
Next to the door were fingerprint and facial recognition scanners.
Just as Kenji was debating whether to let Beedrill use brute force again, faint voices drifted from the other side of the door.
Kenji leaned in, pressing his ear against the metal.
"Dr. Fang, I'm taking you out of here! If we don't leave now, it'll be too late!! Those damn Huaxia forces are about to break through the front defenses!"
In this world, language was unified, but based on the accent, Kenji could tell the speaker wasn't Huaxia; he was Burmese.
"No! This data cannot be lost! Or fall into the hands of the Huaxia League!!"
Another man's voice responded, anxious and panicked.
This "Dr. Fang" sounded distinctly Huaxia.
What kind of experimental data is so important that it absolutely cannot fall into the League's hands?
Kenji didn't know, but he knew he couldn't wait any longer. He stepped back behind Ninetales and signaled Beedrill.
Receiving the order, Beedrill didn't hesitate. One thrust of its lance, and BANG! The door shattered.
Compared to the outer gate, this door was much weaker.
"Who goes there!!! —"
The Burmese man inside shouted in alarm.
Kenji wasn't wearing a prosecutor's uniform, but a Huaxia person appearing here right now made his identity obvious.
Ignoring the meaningless question, Kenji stayed behind Ninetales and scanned the room.
It was a massive laboratory.
Lining the walls were countless cylindrical tanks.
Inside the transparent tanks, strange colored liquids bubbled.
When Kenji saw what was suspended in the liquid, his brows furrowed deeply.
Inside the tanks were Pokémon!
They were curled up, asleep in the fluid. Some had expressions of pain frozen on their faces; others had tubes and needles inserted all over their bodies.
The man called Dr. Fang was staring intently at a computer screen, his eyes bulging. He hadn't even looked up when Kenji burst in.
Only when the screen in front of him went black did Dr. Fang slowly raise his head. A relieved, sickly smile spread across his face.
"Seeking death!! —"
The Burmese man was wearing the uniform of a high-ranking Team Rocket Executive. Seeing Kenji ignore him, his face twisted in fury. He threw out eight Poké Balls at once, summoning eight Pokémon onto the battlefield.
